"I'll divert the Shadow's attention. Get ready, Yari!" Apo shouted.
He rushed towards the enemy dragon and hurled his spear, but the dragon lashed out his tail and countered the attack. He roared in anger.
Saldang morphed back into a human, and I help her move to a safe spot. Anan rushed towards her to give her medicines. The miasma was still around her. As a countermeasure, Anan was wrapped around with enchantment from Ester, stopping the adverse effects. I believe in the skills of Anan.
Apo was still fighting the enemy. I moved to the path going to the heart of the Lagoon and, I waited for his signal. Apo shifted his attacks and started moving towards me. Luckily, the Shadow did not notice our plan. Baku is waiting at the heart of the Lagoon.
Apo continued his barrage of attacks, making the enemy angrier. The distance between them and me was getting closer. I need to get ready. I cast a spell and stayed on standby while Apo is getting nearer.
"Now! Yari." Apo shouted.
Moon's Call!
Ripples of light energy blasted towards the Shadow, causing him to growl in pain. He was affected by my attacks. The enemy's attention went to me, and Apo hid behind the trees.
"Over here!" I shouted.
Due to its rage, the dragon rushed towards me. I started to run towards the heart of the Lagoon. I need to run as fast as I can. The distance between the Shadow and me is getting shorter.
Wind's Delight! Ani shouted.
I can feel the breeze gather around me, making my movements lighter.
Excellent job, Ani!
I focused on reaching the heart because I don't want to fail those people. I ran straight on the path. The dragon keeps on lashing out its tail to prevent my movements. I ducked and rolled forward to evade its rampage.
Oh, goodness! A breath attack.
A barrier appeared in front of me that serves as a platform. I jumped on it avoided the attack. The path that got hit by the enemy started to wither. I continued jumping from one platform to another, serving as a step. I can see the heart of the Lagoon now.
Baku was standing there and was casting a spell to get ready. I continued moving forward and jumped from the platform to make my movements faster. The enemy cannot fly because of the damage that he took from Saldang. I felt the sudden rise of the ominous aura. I looked behind me, and the miasma around the Shadow was getting bigger.
Hurry, Ayari!
I can feel that I am running out of breath because of the miasma's intensity as the enemy approaches. It's draining my energy so fast. I saw Apo was following us and signaled me to continue running. He pointed his finger on the ground, and I understood what he was trying to do. I stopped in my tracks to cut the distance between the Shadow and me.
"Now!" Apo shouted.
The ground started to shake, and lava exploded in from of the enemy. That's my cue. I started to run again while the Shadow struggled from the continuous explosion at the ground, stopping on his tracks.
"Baku, I'm here!"
"Thank you, Master!" Baku shouted.
I saw that the Lagoon's heart was a giant platform with ancient scriptures written on the ground. It was surrounded by five gigantic crystals, the shade of each element.
"Master, listen to what I say. I know you can cast this spell since most of your spiritual energy is from the light attribute." Baku explained.
"But how?"
"Kurdapya, teach Yari how ancient incantation for the renewal of life," Baku said.
Kurdapya appeared behind me and told me to move to the middle of the platform. I followed their instructions.
"I'll hold off the Shadow while you get ready. I can only give you five minutes since half of my spiritual energy was sealed somewhere in Orient Seas." Baku said.
"Okay, understood."
"Now, Ayari. Summon Night's Fall and place it on the slot in front of you." Kurdapya said.
She started to teach me the incantation. All I need to do is focus on this spell.
The Shadow appeared in front of us, but Baku was ready. He morphed into his dragon form, and to my surprise, his size was different than before. It was as big as Saldang, and the spiritual pressure was intense. Baku's appearance was different in his petite form. The scales that covered him were made from diamonds. His wings were the same as Saldang, but it has the color of winter. When he flapped his wings, snowdrops formed. It was too majestic. I cant' believe that Baku's appearance was like this.
Baku lashed out his tail to stop the enemy in his tracks. The Shadow was caught off guard and move backward. He roared in anger.
"Ayari, focus! And let Baku handle the enemy." Kurdapya said.
I focused on chanting the ancient text that Kurdaya taught me.
"Aim at my heart, aim at the seed, the red core." The voice said.
The two dragons kept on fighting, and they were of equal strength. The ripples of spiritual energy were so great that they kept me from losing my focus. The ground shook as they fought.
"One more minute," Baku shouted.
I closed my eyes and started to chant the spell.
"I am the Luminary, creator of the stars,
Herald of the moon, rider of the sun.
Thy morning and evening follow my will,
All shall bow at my presence.
Judge those who go against my command,
As I am the ruler of the cosmos."
Eye of Celestia!
The surrounding fell silent after casting the spell. It appeared that time has stopped. The crystals and the scriptures started to glow and accumulate, causing the rise of spiritual energy at Lagoon's heart. I felt the surge of power on my whole body, causing ancient texts to appear. The moon sigil appeared on my head, and I slowly ascended to air. The time started to move again, and Baku saw that I was ready. He summoned five ice pillars and pinned down the Shadow.
The enemy kept on struggling to get away from the pillar, but it was no use. Baku morphed back to his human form and continued to hold off the enemy.
"Master, now!"
Polaris!
The sky grew dark as the evening, and a gigantic magic circle appeared in the night sky. The wind vibrated with the pressure coming from the spell. After that, arrays of light fell from the sky like shootings stars and struck the enemy.
The Shadow was resisting, and the miasma around him got intense, trying to block the barrage of light. It was no use because the thick dark aura started to disappear at the dragon.
"How dare you defy the will of the Evil Lord! You will never succeed, Luminary!"
Everyone heard the menacing voice, threatening us.
I gathered up my energy and shouted as loud as I can.
"As long as I am here, I will not allow you to do what you want!"
Then a menacing laugh was heard all over the Lagoon.
I have to end this now and save the people of the Pines.
I closed my eyes again and focused all my spiritual energy on my attacks. The dragon screamed in pain, and the miasma was disappearing, revealing the actual appearance of the Shadow. After a few seconds, the aura completely disappeared, and the red core at his broke.
Success!
The magic circle in the sky disappeared, and the sky went back to normal. I can hear the people cheering from the other side. I felt relieved that everything was over.
I jumped down from the air and moved towards Baku and Kurdapya. The dragon lying on the ground started to mutate and transformed back into its human form. He looks like the Pine Lagoon citizen, and he is the same man I saw in my dreams.
I saw Saldang appeared and was carrying some clothes. He gave it to Baku and started to put it on the man.
"Thank you for saving Lagas, Ayari," Saldang said.
"No problem, it's my duty as the chosen successor," I said and bowed my head at her.
"Raise your head, Ayari. Don't do that. I was ready to end the life of Lagas, and I thought that was the only option. But since you came, I observed your behavior and noticed that I know something to help us. I'm sorry if I doubted you." Saldang said.
I did not know that she felt like that. I kept thinking that she was weird since we arrived here in the Lagoon because of her actions towards me. Now that explains everything.
"It's okay, I understand. I'm glad that we can save Lagas." I said.
"Again, thank you for saving my brother and the Pine Lagoon," Saldang said and bowed her head.
"What? He is your brother?" I asked, confused.
"Yes, he is. Now, let's return to my house. Oh, wait, before that."
Saldang raised her hand and cast a spell. Her hands glowed bright, then a rainbow appeared from there. Little by little, it went up on the sky. The path infected with the miasma returned to its original state as if nothing happened.
The greyish color of the millennium tree changed. It was more lively than before. It's like spring has come again at the Pine Lagoon. Baku carried Lagas, and we headed back to the house. The Dalaketnons also returned to their own place.
I was surprised when someone placed his arms around my shoulders and rubbed my head. It was Apo, smiling widely.
"Thank you so much for your help, Apo," I said.
"No worries, as long as I can help you."
I saw the others running towards us. Everyone was happy and smiling widely. I'm so glad that I was able to help others.
"You're so cool big brother," Anan said.
"Excellent job, guys," Ani said.
"You too, you improved a lot. Thank you, Ani and Ester." I said and smiled.
"So what are we waiting for? Let's head home now and rest."
"Let's go!" Everyone shouted.
