Tomorrow is the First Day of School (Kambrely Hart)
Kambrely Hart
Hi, I’m Kambrely Hart. I’m 15 years old, and tomorrow is my first day of high school, Freshman year, but most of my classes are going to be Sophomore classes, because they said "I'm above grade level and so most of your classes are going to have to be Sophomore classes."
Most people would be “happy, excited, glad, joyful”. You see where I’m going with this, but me… I don’t really know what to feel at this point.
I mean, yeah there’s going to be new people to meet or whatever, but I’ve been living in this same town my whole life. So, most likely it’s the same people that I already know from last school year.
It was just my birthday before school started, on the 7th of August. That's why I'm 15 in the 9th grade.
Auntie Lee, forgot to get me a new backpack for this school year, so we had to go shopping for one today, at the last minute.
There were only ugly olive drab, green ones left, so I took matters into my own hands.
Before we went home, I asked Auntie Lee if we could stop at the store down the street.
When we got to the store, I got some things, so I could customize my backpack, so it looks new even though it’s not. I got some tie-dye, bleach, ice, hot glue g*n sticks, and these little charms I found at the shop. They kinda give me old school, 90s vibes, so that's my inspiration.
We just got home and I started right away. I got a bucket of hot water, mixed the water with bleach, put the backpack inside, and then I poured more bleach on top. I kept it there for fifteen-twenty minutes.
After I drained all the water out, then I put it in the dryer so when I put the tie-dye on it didn't get super lighter.
When I went outside, I saw this boy from across the street, who looked about my age looking at me. I had never seen him around before, so he must have just moved here. I just turned around and act like I didn't see him and went along with my day.
I put some ice at the bottom of the bucket. Then I put the rubber bands around the backpack, and grabbed the powered tie-dye.
I sat the backpack inside the bucket, put the tie-dye powder all around the backpack and sat some ice on top.
I waited for about an hour, then I put it in the dryer.
When it came out, the colors looked so cute together.
I plugged up the hot glue g*n, then I started gluing the charms on.
After about five-ten minutes, I was done gluing the charms on, but it looked like something was missing.
I went into my crafting bucket, to see what I could add that feels like me. But there isn’t really too much to me.
Yeah, I like crafting stuff and drawing-, that it I can just draw a picture or add some paint spots around it or something.
So, I just did both of those things.
I drew on some 90s cartoons, like Spongbob, Dexter, Powerpuff Girls, Mr. Krabs, Johnny Bravo, Catdog, Arnold, Helga, Sandy, Tommy, Susie, Chuckie, Angelica, Sonic, Eliza and Darwin Thornberry.
I colored them in.
Then I got paint and put it on the backpack handle, the straps, and the pockets on the side.
The paint was the same color as the 90s cartoons, so it would match and look nice together.
