CHAPTER 2

1943 Words
My eyes travel from his beautiful eyes to his shoulders and I suck in a sharp breathe. Gawking can’t describe my state right now. I’m mesmerized by his physique. His body is drool-worthy. His massive chest and shoulders make me gasp. How can one be this handsome? I look back at his eyes and he is smirking at me. I clear my throat and turn away in embarrassment. “I know I’m handsome but you don’t have to keep ogling me.” He says smugly and I snort. I don’t like arrogant men. Men who are so full of themselves. One mark out. I remain silent and look at nothing in particular ignoring him. He can speak to himself. “I don’t share my space.” This is the second time he is saying this. Which space? I turn to glare at him and he glares back. “Excuse me, what did you say?” “I SAID I DON’T SHARE MY SPACE.” He shouts and few students turn to look at us. “Which space specifically?” “This space. This bench.” What the hell! Is he kidding me right now? Who does he think he is. “Does this bench belong to you?” “No but I came here first so just look for some other space.” Asshole He is such an asshole. “Does it have your name on it?” I ask glaring at him. “Are you a freshman? Everyone in campus knows that I don’t share my space. Apart from you maybe. I'm bad news young girl. Look for some other space.” “I’m not going anywhere.” “What did you just say?” “I said I’m not going anywhere. You know what, quit nagging me.” “A freshman with some guts! We will see where that takes you.” “Yeah, we will.” “It’s embarrassing to sit next to an unappealing girl. Total embarrassment.” Did he just call me unappealing? I feel like crushing his balls. I look for a weapon nearby and don’t find any. I look back at him and he is glaring at me. I hate this guy. Honestly, I hate him. I know it’s the first time we are meeting but I don’t like him. Guys like him are a complete turn off. I choose to ignore him completely. “Are you surprised? You are unappealing sweetheart.” Ugh! Why is Raph taking so long? Maybe I should look for somewhere else but again no. I'm not going anywhere. I won’t give him that satisfaction. I ignore him and start browsing. “So you are going to ignore me?” “was I supposed to answer that? So sorry master. I didn’t know.” I take a sharp breathe trying to control my anger. “I know I’m unappealing, so what? If that makes you sleep at night then good.” There. He can go hang. He laughs and it pisses me more. “Matt!” a lady shouts and walks towards us swinging her hips seductively. It makes me want to puke. So this is campus life! She is in a skirt that barely covers her essentials. Slut. It’s the first thing that comes to my mind. The guy pouts and smiles at her warmly as she nears us. What the f**k! He is pretending by smiling at her and it’s clear he doesn’t like her. I don’t like him at all. Reasons? First, he is so arrogant. Second, he is so full of himself. Third, he is so rude. Fourth, he is a pretender. Fifth. He sucks! f*****g sucks. Sixth, he is an asshole! Yeah, an asshole. A big one for that matter. The girl reaches where we are and throws herself at him. “Ooh Matt. I missed you so much.” “Hey Ellaine? Nice seeing you here.” He says in a disinterested manner and I chuckle. The girl sneers at me and clicks. “What’s funny?” she asks still sneering at me. “Something in my phone.” I raise my eyebrows at her and focus on my phone chuckling more. “Who is she Matt? We all know you don’t share your space.” “Just a nobody. We are not together.” He says smirking at her. “I have a party tomorrow. Will you come?” “I will be a bit busy but I will try Ellaine. I will confirm by tomorrow. “Munchkinl” Raph calls from a distance and runs towards us. Finally. I can get out of here. “Raph.” He opens his arms to me and I run into them hugging him tightly. He raises me and I just giggle running my fingers in his hair. I always do that. I like it and it feels nice. He grins and sets me on the ground gazing at Ellaine and Matt. Matt? Is that his name? As in Matthew? This is funny. What a bad choice of a name! “Hey Matt? Hey Ellaine?” he asks and shifts his gaze at me. “Hey too Raph. I'm holding a party tomorrow. Please come.” She says seductively and I feel like throwing up. Raph is handsome. So handsome. I won’t be surprised if girls follow him everywhere. “That is if Mel will come with me.” He says smiling at me. “Mel? Who is Mel?” “She is. If she comes then I will come.” “Fine. Bring her along.” She looks at me with contempt. I know Ellaine. You don’t like me and the feeling is mutual. I feel like saying the words aloud but I don’t. “Will see you later.” He says smiling at her. “Let’s go sweetheart.” He takes my hand and we walk away from there chatting happily. “What were you doing with them Mel?” “Don’t tell me you are jealous Raph.” I say grinning and he pinches me. “Ouch! What was that for?” “Saying I’m jealous.” He says faking seriousness and I burst out laughing. “Maybe we should date Raph.” “Me and you on the same sentence? We will kill each other.” He chuckles and I join in. “So sweetheart, what’s up with Matt and Ellaine?” “Nothing Raph. I sat on that bench and that Matt guy started complaining. Saying that he doesn’t share his space.” “True. He is like that.” “I don’t like him. He is so full of himself. Can you imagine him saying I should look for somewhere else to sit. Ugh! He is so irritating.” He notices my expression and laughs. “And knowing you well you didn’t move.” “Why would I? It’s not like he owns the place.” I snort and he laughs. “He has finally met his match. He is bad news sis. Girls are all over him and he is so full of himself. He is a fuckboy. I think he has slept with almost every girl in campus.” “Even Ellaine?” “Yap! She booty licks him. Be careful around him. If anyone tries to hurt you, you know I won’t take it. I will hurt them back.” Yes, I know. He is so protective of me. “He is cute but I don’t like him. Don’t worry Raph. I won’t be near him again. For the next four years.” He smiles and leads me to a room with the tag “admissions” on it. The lady there smiles warmly at us. “How may I help you?” “She is a new student. We are here for the room number.” “Name please.” “Melanie Brown.” “Here.” She gives me some keys. “All the best Melanie.” “Thanks.” I whisper as we walk to the parking lot to take my bags. “That’s room number?” “318.” “318? That must be a two bedroom.” “huh! I thought we have single rooms.” “Some are two bedrooms. I hope your roommate will be nice.” He says as we drag the bags towards the boarding block. “I hope so Raph. I just hope so.” We reach the room and I open the door letting Raph in. The house is quiet and it feels like there is no one in yet. There is a laptop and some headphones on the table. Some jackets are sprawled on the floor. Ooh God! I have a weirdo for a roommate. A tomboy! How will I survive this? “I will leave you to unpack Mel. In case of anything don’t hesitate to call me. You know you are my responsibility. Your dad said so.” “Thanks bff. I will. Let me unpack and freshen up.” He smiles and leaves me alone in the dirty house. I slump on the sofa and switch on the telly. I will do the unpacking later. I'm too tired to unpack and arrange clothes in the room. I don’t know which room I will be using. I have to wait for my roommate to come and I can know which room I should take. I can’t go snooping on the rooms to see which one is unoccupied. I hear someone opening the door and gasp at who it is. You have to be kidding me. What is he doing here? He walks towards me and I can tell he is surprised too. “What the f**k are you doing here Mel? Is that your name? I heard your boyfriend call you that.” “I should be asking the same question? Are you following me?” “Why would I follow you? It’s a shame to be seen with you.” Ouch! That hurts. Am I that unappealing? I gulp loudly and glare at him. He glares back at me and switches off the telly. “ f**k you Matthew! I'm watching that show.” “It’s Matt. Not Matthew.” “Matt! Matthew. It’s one and the same thing.” He glares at me and I smile with satisfaction. I now know how to get back at him for saying I’m unappealing. “It’s Matt. Don’t dare call me Matthew.” “Fine then Matt.” I say pulling the name sarcastically. “Give me the remote. I have a show to catch up with.” “Not until you tell me what you are doing here.” “It’s my room, duh! What are you doing here?” “This is unbelievable. It’s my room too.” “What the hell! So you are my roommate?” “Yeah, more of housemates.” We glare at each other and I feel like throwing something at him. “Roommates?” we both voice unbelievably.
