A way back home

Burning Town

It has been a couple of days since Noah and Hope departed from Leich town, Angeline and Teo took the siblings that night and, went to the carriage, and hasn't stopped since. They only stopped a few times to eat. 

As for why were they are in such a hurry? well, that was because there hasn't been even the shadow of Leonardo since then. He was a pity person and he would take revenge even for the slightest 'insult' , not talk about defeating him in a match. 

However, if it was just that, they wouldn't be in such a hurry, they had Angeline after all, the real problem was that Leonardo saw that Noah could use spells at such a young age, and that was not all, he could use more than one spell and a third level one. If this gets to the ears of those who were really dangerous, it wouldn't a surprise that a group of mercenaries were already on their way to kill them or worse, a group of magicians.

It was the fourth night and Noah was currently sleeping in the lap of April. This constant travel exhausted the young siblings so they went to sleep really early. 

April smiled while she caressed the hair of Noah.

"Why are you so obsessed with that little boy?" Asked Angeline, who was in front of April.

"Obsessed? that's rude, if one is obsessed with him is that little freak over there" Said April.

Angeline looked in the direction of April and saw Hope hugging half of the body of Noah.

"That little freak follows Noah even when he goes to the bathroom" Said April.

"You can't blame her, he is her world, she hasn't known anything except for her brother, is natural that she is close to him" Said Angeline.

"But still, she almost bites me the last time I hugged him!" Said April.

"You shouldn't hug him in the first place, whatever the case is, you are still a noble" Said Angeline.

"What noble? Where are magicians before nobles" Said April.

"You always said that went its convenient to you" Said Angeline with a bitter smile.

"Hey guys" 

Angeline and April looked up, Teo was calling for them.

"What is it?" Shouted Angeline.

"You guys better see this" Said Teo.

The carriage stopped, April and Angeline went down leaving the sleeping siblings on the carriage.

Teo didn't say anything, in fact, there wasn't a need to.

A scarlet scenery was contrasted with the night sky.

"What the..." Said April.

"Why is Leviar town in flames?" Said Angeline.

"This was the connection to the Magic Academy, we will need to take the long way" Said Teo.

April clutched her fist.

"We will need to pass the black forest" Said April.

"I can't believe that asshole would kill more than 100 people just to lure us to the black forest" Said April with rage.

Angeline's eyes became blue as she lifted her hand to the skies.

She chanted for a few seconds and, from the skies, water began to fall in the form of rain.

"Let's see if there is someone alive" Said Angeline with a sad voice.

The trio walked into the town, as they suspected only the smell of burnt and dead.

They walked for a few hours but...

They didn't found anyone alive.

The portal towards the magic academy was destroyed.

And, in the ground, there was a message writing in weird magic.

"I am waiting in the dark forest"

April bite her lips until she bled.

"You will pay for this" She said.

Angeline sighed, it was quite sad that, even if this town is destroyed, it was just the dead of civils, as far as magicians concerned, it will be an investigation, yes, but with the influence of Leonardo's family, it will end in just another blank investigation without guilty.

"This is the dark side of this world" Said Teo.

"This is not gonna end like this" Said April.

"Don't be in such a hurry, April, we better call for help" Said Angeline.

"That could take months, we won't be able to last with the food and water we have" Said Teo.

"Entering the dark forest is suicide" Said Angeline.

"I don't think we have that much choice" Said April.

"It's either die here from hunger or try our luck" Said Teo.

"Sigh~" Sighed Angeline.

April, Teo, and Angeline got out of the town and waited until the eve when Noah and Hope woke up.

April explained to the siblings what was going on.

"Can they really get that far?" Asked Noah.

"The Luckters family is really influent in this part of the country, although they are at the same level as the Ravenhood, the Ravenhood don't have that much influence here" Said Angeline.

"Basically, this is their territory right?" Asked Noah.

"That's right" Said April.

"Brothesh?" Asked Hope.

"Don't worry princess, we are going to take a detour but everything is fine" Said Noah.

He went with Hope back to the carriage and told her to stay put.

"So what's the plan?" Asked Noah.

"We will go with the utmost care, I will contact another teacher that is a friend of mine, he will come as fast as he can, if we are lucky, we will meet him in the way" Said Angeline.

"Good, good" said Noah.

"Anyway, let's get going, the food is about to run out" Said Angeline.

Noah took a look at the burned town, he was still shocked when he found out that more than one hundred people die last night, all of that just to get some revenge.

"This world is far more dangerous than I thought" Murmured Noah.

He went back to the carriage and hugged Hope.

"What is it Brothesh~" Said Hope happily.

"Nothing, nothing, don't worry princess" Said Noah.

After a short break, everyone parted and went on their way towards the dark forest.

"Of course I am" Said Leonardo with a smile.

The man in front of him smiled.

"Finally, a specimen worthy of investigation" He said.
