Alpha Alexander POV I arrive early in case my father arrived early. I didn’t want to waste the precious time that my mate has. The sooner I get answers, the better. I could smell him before I could hear him. He was walking up wind of me, although I suspect it to alert me of his presence. It wasn’t long before he stepped out of the forests dark cover and into the clearing that the abandoned mine was located. He looked a lot worse for wear, he had a lot more scars on his face and arms than he had before his banishment. He now has a long beard and I would see the wrinkles that had accumulated of his face over the last six years. “Ah, my son! You look like a man now!”. He said as came closer. “I apologize, but I’m not here to reminisce father.” I growled at him. “Now why do you have to ruin a happy reunion?” he asked with a sadistic smile. “Did my brother tell you why I asked to meet?” I asked him. “All he said it was a personal matter and it wasn’t his place to share.” He said. Ha-ha, the one time Jacob could keep his mouth shut instead of blabbing to father. “I was told you have access to a Fae?” I questioned him and his expression became dark. “How do you know about that? I only told a very limited about of people.” He said with his voice dropping low. “Never mind that, I don’t have much time. My mate is dying and she needs a Fae Healer. So, father, you can either help me or let me go on with finding someone who can.” I said trying to keep my emotions in check. Just then my father got a mischievous look in his eye. “I’m sure we can come to an agreement.” He said with a sly grin. “What do you want?” I growled out. “In exchange for giving you the whereabouts of the Fae Deserter, I will take a position of high elder of your pack.” He said while smiling. “So you can strip me of my place as Alpha, take my mate and abuse my pack? I don’t think so father.” I bit out at him, feeling rage build up in my veins. “Well then, I guess we have no more to discuss.” My father said as he turned around and paused. “What position is your mate among the Fae?” he asked before turning around to face me. “What difference would that make? It’s clear you only want one thing. I will take my leave.” I said as I turned on my heel and walked away. I wasn’t in the mood to deal with his mind games. If he wasn’t going to help, then I would have to find a Fae Healer myself. On the walk back to my car, I pulled out my phone and started dialing numbers of packs I was allied with. Every answered was the same. The Fae haven’t left their realm in centuries. They decided were the most powerful supernatural race and the rest of us were too far gone and full of sin. They stay in their own realm now. It’s rare to even get a glimpse of a Fae. Needless to say, I was frustrated. Why did the Moon Goddess pair me with a Fae? It makes no sense. Why did my mate have to be the one species that doesn’t have a healer or doctor that is easily accessible? Why couldn’t I have been mates to a wolf just live every other wolf. Did the Moon Goddess make a mistake? By the time I reached the pack mansion, I walked with urgency to my bedroom where my mate was. I was thankful that I wasn’t stopped by anyone, not yet anyways. I took 2 steps at a time up the stairs and made a beeline for door. I opened the door to see my mate in the same condition she was in when I left. Jasmine was still with her, taking her vitals as she did on an hourly basis. “Any updates?” I asked her. “I’m afraid she’s worse Alpha.” At those words my heart plummeted and I fell to my knees at my mate’s bedside. “How long?” I asked her in a stained whisper without taking my eyes off of my beautiful mate. “If we are lucky, 24 hours. I am so sorry Alpha.” Jasmine said while tears filled her eyes. “Thank you. You are dismissed.” I said in a horse voice. I was trying to keep it together, but when Jasmine left the room, I let all my emotions go. I roared as it all came crashing down, the grief and the anger I felt consumed my body. I picked up a chair and flung it against the wall and it broke into pieces. Just then Johnathan came in. “Alpha!” Johnathan exclaimed at the scene before me. “What happened?” he asked me. “My mate has at most, twenty four hours left and the only person that knows a Fae is my father.” I said to him in a gruff voice. “May I suggest we try to look in the pack library?” he asked me. “Okay, but I’m not leaving my mate again. I need to be near her.” I said to him and he nodded. “I know Alpha. I will have a stack of books sent to you.” He said before bowing in submission and leaving. I would feel guilty for taking him away from his mate, especially since we just rescued her from the vampires the same time that we found my mate. I just could shake the thought that he had his mate and I was going to loose mine. I walked over to my unconscious mate and bent down to inhale her scent. I couldn’t stop the urge to kiss her where my mark would go. As my lips made contact with her skin, I heard her heart rate pick up. I smiled at the fact that even though she’s unconscious she still could respond to me. I grabbed her hand in mine and I enjoyed the tingling sensation that came with the mate bond. Just then there was a knock at the door. I stood up in front of my mate and answered. “Enter.” The door opened to reveal Johnathan and his mate with some books. She seemed a lot more fragile than when I last seen her. I looked at Johnathan and motioned for them to enter. “We just came to drop off the books, Alpha. We will be researching in the library.” Johnathan said as he put his hand on his mates back. “Thank you both.” I said to them as I took both stacks of books. “We also want you to know, we have the whole pack looking.” Johnathan’s mate said. I nodded and they both left mine and my mate’s room. Now, it was time to do some research. I just hope we can find an answered in time. After several hours it turned to dark and I stood to stretch when I felt panic through the pack bond. Then there was a knock at the door and a voice on the other side that I recognized. “Alpha, we are being attacked by vampires!” my Gamma Samuel yelled through the door. I immediately opened the door and looked at my Gamma. “Stay with your Luna. If anything happens to her while I am gone, you will pay for it!” I growled before marching out the door.
