A fresh start
I have met a lot of people in my life, some I have liked, some I have disliked and others I felt indifferent about. With every person I had met in my life, there was none quite like diasy. I just couldn’t comprehend the Aura she exuded, I couldn’t say I liked or disliked her, she was just plain mysterious. We were roommates, one of the most scary things a university student could face was having to deal with a wierd roommate, it was miserable. Daisy was a book to be studied, she was elegant in every single way. She was so beautiful and yet so conceited . I never saw her laugh, she barely said any words and acted like she would ruin her life with just a second of fun. I was not the kind of girl to have friends visit and make a nuisance to the detriment of her roommates, yet I always wondered why at least even if it was just once, why no friends came around to see her. She was one hell of a loner, All I saw her do was the same routine for the one year we shared the same room,,she prayed, read and went for lectures . She had zero tolerance for noise or chit chats, she was a team with herself and couldn’t afford any new members. It was unlike me to stay with someone I couldn’t hold a conversation with, I was a social butterfly, I was a natural in conversing yet, I had managed to live like a stranger with my roommate for close to an academic year. I hated everything about it, it wasn’t just my style to be distant with ppl I knew… "i would be off to the market, I could help you get some supplies” i had said to her, it was a Saturday morning. I genuinely was concerned, I had noticed she was out of groceries and had no meal in the small refrigerator we both shared. Saturday mornings were my shopping days, I had made it a ritual to shop, cook and clean at weekends. She was at her usual position on the study table, studying five different large text books at once…She looked so exhausted. I could tell she had been on that same spot for hours. “ I am fine Diane, I would be fine, you need not worry about me” she looked straight into her books, trying so hard to hide the pains in her voice the whole time we talked. My mum would say, “the world is full of a lot of angry and bitter ppl, some just need a little love and that’s it” . The words of my mum lingered in my head through out my stay in the market, I fought it hard to go away but I failed, my mothers words kept nudging me to not ignore the pains in her voice, there was just more to her that met the eyes. After a prolonged struggle with my conscience and batting with reason,I made up my mind to get her a few things and you should have seen how her face lightened up the moment i handed over the bag full of groceries . Her eyes were so heavy when she looked up at me and mouthed " thank you Diane..this means a lot to me „ I could hear the pain in her voice, it held an emotion that was close to the feeling of lack. I pulled her up from her study chair and embraced her, I could hear little sobs, I wanted to cry too. " we all need help diasy, no one is an inland, I am always ready to listen“ I meant every word I said, I couldn’t explain how I felt ,but it was peaceful.
