After an hour in which nothing had changed Drake was starting to get impatient. But he was still wary of making the jump and finding themselves trapped by a large pirate fleet, especially during the period of disorientation immediately after jumping. He found himself staring at the jump point, wishing he could see what lay on the far side. Wishing he could sense it somehow. ‘Would you like me to help you see what lies on the other side of the jump point?’ the Azimuth asked in Drake’s mind, its voice making his skin crawl as it always did. ‘You can do that?’ he replied.
