Part 1: Chapter 2: Alpha King

“How can you be so sure? She married a hunter today,” Luis says.

“I’m sure because I can feel connected to her,” Ethan says.

“You met her once and just found out what her name meant, how does that make it enough for her to be your mate?” the second asks.

“I’m not sure, but I’ll test it, and only then will I know for sure,” he explains thinking of a plan.

“For now, let’s focus on keeping the pack alive,” he continued.

Luis nodded before leaving the room and now Ethan was alone. He was thinking of the beauty he saw in Rieka, of how she could be his mate yet married to his enemy. He thought of all the years he was waiting for his Luna and she could be her.

The crescent pack is the only werewolf pack in the country but they are one of the biggest in the world lead by Alpha Ethan but since there were hunters everywhere, they decided to hide under one of the land names, Selene after their goddess of the moon Selene.

And of course, to keep the pack safe, Alpha Ethan and every leader before him, kept Selene a secret and no one knows what it looks like except for the one who lives there.

There was a legend that said that a woman got pregnant from the strongest most powerful Alpha, alpha Kai, and gave birth to the Alpha King. This alpha has the power to resist any type of bullet or poison that might be used against him, he will be able to heal his pack members when injured and give them immunity during the full moon where their transformation becomes forced and ten times more painful than it usually is.

However, for this wolf to gain such power, he must find his Luna. For centuries, they said this was just a myth until Ethan was born. His father was known to be one of the strongest leaders out there and is the descendant of Alpha Kai.

Ethan’s powers remain dormant until he finds his Luna which is why Rieka’s form is his top priority for now and waited for her to come back.

And that didn’t take long, soon, Rieka and Malik were back from their honeymoon and their parents had already begun with the preparations for the royal ceremony.

“Welcome back,” queen Helena greeted them as they walked inside the gates to the palace.

“What is all of this?” Rieka asks looking around.

“This is the decoration for your coronation in a few days,” her mother said.

“This early, we just got married,” she says.

“Remember what we talked about? The faster you take the crown, the faster your people will learn to trust you,” she speaks referring to what she said on their wedding day.

“You two can go rest after your long flight, everything here is almost ready,” she says and allows the couple to go to their shared room.

“Can you believe we just got married and they already want to make us Duke and Duchess?” Rieka asks while taking off her clothes.

“I agree with them, the sooner the better, we have duties to get to,” Malik explains.

“Sweetheart I have a little bit of work to get to, I will come back to you soon, alright?” he kissed her temple and she nodded watching him leave the room.

Rieka walked to the window and looked outside of it to enjoy nature. She closed her eyes to listen to the birds and feel the breeze but suddenly, she opens her eyes scared. The noises she heard were much louder than how they were supposed to be and that made Rieka think there was a creature right next to her but she was wrong.

She then looked in front of her and was able to detect every single movement but she has zero clue what was happening to her. The young woman backed away from the window and everything went back to normal and she calmed down.

“What just happened?” she asked herself.

A few days later, it was already the day of the ceremony and just like everyone, the future Duke and Duchess were getting ready,

“Rieka, Rieka!” her little sister Josey came rushing inside their room and wouldn’t rest until she found her sister.

“What is it, Josey?” she asked hugging her.

“I dreamt you were lost and taken so I got scared,” she said her arms still wrapped around her.

“Josey, they’re just dreams, don’t worry. Look at me, I’m safe,” she told her sister how dreams aren’t real but Malik narrowed his eyes for a second to listen to what Josette just said.

“What else did you see in your dream, Josette?” Malik asked her getting curious.

“Malik!” Rieka glared at him.

“I don’t know, all I saw was Rieka and darkness,” she said and hugged her older sister again.

“You had to ask?” she raised an eyebrow still looking at Malik.

“It’s okay, her memory won’t affect her,” he said.

“Dream, it was a dream,” Rieka said still comforting her sibling.

“Sure,” Malik nodded and walked into the bathroom.

A few hours later, it was time for the coronation, and Rieka and Malik were ready to take on the responsibility.

They stepped up on the podium and both kings and queens swore them in announcing them as the new duke and duchess and Artemis and Kratos. Everyone cheered for them as well as the other royals who attended the ceremony.

It was dance time and everyone was with a partner while the duke was on the phone busy as usual.

“Would you like a dance?” she turned around to find King Ethan offering her his hand and after a little thought, she took it and let him lead her to the dance floor.

He gently placed one hand on her waist and the other intertwined with Rieka’s hand and her other was resting on his shoulder.

They started moving with the pace of the song and then their eyes met for a second but for them it felt like an eternity like everyone else was slowed down and it was them alone. They looked at each other for a while and they felt like they were connecting like she could feel what he felt and him what she felt.

They directly broke their contact and it was already time for them to go eat.

“I’m sorry, this wasn’t mean to happen,” Rieka apologizes and Ethan nods his head.

Ethan planned to find out if Rieka is truly his mate but after the dance, he isn't sure he needs more confirmation. He puts drops of wolfsbane in the drink, he already notified the pack members about it so it was just so Rieka could drink it and make sure if she’s truly a wolf, or if he was mistaken.

The maiden filled the glasses next to everyone and as soon as they started sipping it, everything was normal, but he only cared about one specific person who hasn’t touched their glass yet.

Later, she grabs the cup and swallows a lot of it. Ethan waited for a reaction but nothing, she moved a little but that’s not enough, wolfsbane is supposed to eat her inside out for a couple of minutes and she should feel pain, but that didn’t happen.

Ethan turned to his second and sighed then continued eating like it was nothing but deep down he was disappointed, and Rieka could feel it but didn’t know from where. She looked at the man and as soon as her eyes fell on him, it’s like her instincts told her it was him.

Ethan looks up for a second and caught Rieka looking straight and him, she turned away really fast hoping he does not think I don’t like him.

Rieka felt very connected to the stranger and had no idea why, but it made her feel relaxed. Like she would feel safe with him.

First the sounds, then Josey’s dreams, now this…

What was happening to her…?
