- Malik’s P.O.V -
The king died a few days later and the kingdom was going through h*ll. I mean, of course, they had no king and the only one in power was the queen.
The next kind would be one of their oldest son but he is very very young. So Helena will remain in power until someone else takes the throne or the people choose a new leader.
Luckily, this was one of the many plans Aaron and I created.
I had Artemis on my side but Kratos is way more resourceful with a much bigger army.
If I became in power, I could lead a massive army and end Crescent Moon.
Yes, at first King Ethan and I were friends, but that was all before I learned the truth.
*flashback*
Josette threw the cup Ethan was supposed to drink and all the wolves and got on the floor.
She knew exactly what she was doing, that little girl.
I turned to Ethan to see his reaction and he tried to stay as calm as he could. He pretended to be confused as to why Josette didn’t let him drink but he knew the exact reason.
Yes, I didn’t have an actual reaction from him to the poison, but I also knew Josie.
Almost immediately, Ethan gets up and leaves the palace, and heads back to wherever his kingdom is.
*end of flashback*
I sat in the warehouse with a glass of wine in my hand thinking of all the times Reika came back late or happened to meet Ethan at the same time.
I’m a hunter. I learn to notice even the tiniest of things.
I was tonight how not to react or pretend.
Why would the king allow me to marry Reika? For one, she’s not his daughter, for two, she’s the key to ending Crescent Moon.
All I need to know is who’s the wolf with the black fur.
Her? Or Ethan?
After a couple of hours, I decided to execute the plan earlier than we decided. So I got up and went back to the palace.
Everyone was gathered around the dinner table wearing black as if they were mourning the king. Helena included.
I smiled at the sight then sat down next to my wife.
“I see you’re still wearing dark colors,” I ask.
“Malik, do you need anything?” She asks.
“Hmm? No why?” I look at her.
“No nothing, it just seemed to me that you want to start a fight,” she responds and I smile.
“No, I just want to enjoy the food,” I answer.
I looked to my right and found Reika doing nothing but eat her food.
Usually, she would tug on my sleeve or do anything to stop me from involving myself in conflicts but not anymore.
“Josie how was your day?” I ask the younger girl and she looks up at me with interest in her eyes.
“Why do you ask?” She answers.
“I can’t be curious about my sister-in-law?” I ask.
“Not when I’m me and you’re you. What do want Malik?” She speaks going back to eating.
She not only was a psychic, but she was also extremely smart.
I wonder what Reika would do if something happened to Josie.
“Nothing, Josie, enjoy your meal,” I say lastly and eat my dinner quietly.
******
After dinner, I went to my bedroom and waited for everyone to go to bed so I could follow my plan.
Soon, Reika walks in and goes straight to bed. I laugh to myself seeing the situation my wife and I are in but I couldn’t care less.
I waited a little more and then left the room. I walked down the hall as quietly as possible until I reached the little girl’s room.
I open the door and see she’s sleeping so I opened the door a little more allowing me to enter. Everything I needed was already prepared so all I had to do was get her quietly.
I took the tranquilizer and approached her a little more. The needle pointed to her neck, she hears movements and opens her eyes, and sees me above her.
She tried to scream but I put my hand on her mouth before a sound got out and stared into her eyes.
“If you don’t want your killer mother and wolf sister to die, you shut up and let me finish my work. Am I clear?” I threaten.
Of course, a teenager her age would usually scream for their life and be too scared to know what’s right or wrong, but not in Josie’s case. She remained silent and I pierced the needle in her neck and soon, she was completely out.
My job is done.
- Reika’s P.O.V -
In the morning, I wake up with a lot of sounds around the palace. Usually, we wouldn’t hear the maiden at work but today was different.
After my father’s death, everything was chaotic, however, today was even more.
I got out of bed and for the first time in weeks, Malik was still next to me sleeping.
I walked down the hall then down the stairs and found my mother running around feeling nervous.
“Mom? What’s wrong?” I ask.
“Josie, she’s missing,” She answered.
“She might be in the garden or walking around the palace, don’t worry,” I tried to calm her.
“I already made the guards check and they couldn’t find her,” she said.
“I even checked her room to see if she was back but nothing,” she panicked.
“Mom, we’ll find her don’t worry,” I said putting my ha fa on her shoulders.
“Reika,” she started.
“I should’ve told you this before but….” She continued but stops mid-sentence.
“But what?” I ask.
“Malik,” she sighs.
“He threatened me with Josie the day Aaron's situation happened.
“What?” I back away.
“He threatened me indirectly but I knew who he was talking about. The only thing is… I don’t know why or what he needs from her,” she explained.
“All I know is he’s the reason my daughter is in danger,” she says.
I knew Malik was treating me like sh*t these past few weeks but I wasn’t going to allow him to come near my family and especially not Josie.
I ran back to my room and woke him up.
“Where’s my sister?” I ask.
“What?” He answers with his raspy morning voice.
“Don’t mess around Malik, where is Josie?!” I ask again.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about?” He answers.
“Josie is not in her room or the palace, where is she? Where did you take her?” I ask again.
“Wait? Josie is kidn*pped?” He’s still pretending.
“I know you threatened my mother with Josie so stop the act and tell me where she is,” I grabbed him by his color and looked straight into his eyes.
“Do you even know why I threatened Helena?” He asks as if he didn’t care.
“Your mom isn’t so innocent herself so if anything, she’s might be the reason your little sister is missing,” he says making my blood boil even more so I threw him back and went out.
******
It’s been two days since we last saw Josie and Malik still pretended like he knew nothing and I was starting to get very annoyed.
I told Ethan everything that same day and even though I expected him to turn his back on me, he had his betas out searching for my sister but still nothing.
Of course, they couldn’t find a trace. They weren’t at their strongest capacity, but at least they tried.
“What does Malik want with her?! What?!” I scream in the middle of the woods.
“Calm down, we’ll find her,” Ethan tries to calm me down.
“Ethan, she’s my little sister, she’s like my therapy or the person I go to when I want to escape from reality. I swear if something happens to her I will make sure that whoever hurt her wishes they were de*d instead,” I make a promise to myself.
- Malik’s P.O.V -
I was in the cloaked area where I put Josette in as I stared at her sitting in her chair.
“What else do you want from me?” She asked not scared one bit.
“You’re pretty courageous for your age,” I tilt my head.
“Too bad you won’t get to experience your full potential,” I tell her.
“If you are going to kill me, do it now,” she said.
I laughed for a second and sat down in front of her.
“But I need you,” I tease her.
“Alright listen, I’ve kept you here for two days so I’m sure you already know you can’t mind control me,” I start not wanting to waste more time.
“Know that thing I’m using so you can’t control me? Werewolves have that in their blood,” I explain to her.
“So you might also know in that pretty brain of yours that the only way a human can get that sort of power, they need to have werewolf blood. Want to know how I got my vile?” I ask staring at her.
“I got it from your sister without her even knowing,” I say finally getting a reaction from her.
“So if you don’t want your sister's body to run out of that red liquid the next time I go back to the palace, you’re going to do whatever I tell you to. Deal?” I continue but she doesn’t say a word.
“I’d rather stay here forever than help you,” she spots poison while saying those words.
“You choose. Your family’s life is in your hands. It’s either your mother and Reika and useless brothers, or Kratos. What do you choose?” I ask.
“Or actually… let’s make this more fun. This blue pill is for one of the two and the red pill is also for one of the two,” I say.
“So whichever one I chose you are going to pretend like it’s whatever you want it to be so you get what you want. Yes, Malik, I get your game,” she filled in the blanks.
“Smart girl. Now choose,” I spoke.
“What do want Malik,” she says after a short silence.
“I want you to mind control Kratos into thinking your sister and mother killed the king. I want you to make them believe they’re traitors and have them burn down the palace with them inside. If they make it out, good for them but if they don’t…” I explain.
“No,” she stops me.
“Great, then I’ll kill all three of you,” I stand up and go grab my gun.
“Wait, stop,” finally her teenage mind started working.
“I’ll mind control the people, but my family will live,” she negotiated.
I stand still for a second and nod.
“Okay,” I tell her.
I’m from Artemis, my job is to lie and break the rules, those things also apply to not listening to a little girl.
“You think I’m stupid?” She says.
“You wouldn’t in a million years agree to such a deal this fast,” she said.
“Alright look, you have my word,” I start.
“I’m not promising you that they stay alive, but all I want is for Kratos to be mine, I don’t care if they live or not. After you make Kratos mine, I’ll let the witch that cast the cloaking spell on this cave release you and you’ll meet your family,” I tell her.
“Deal?”
