The Contract Marriage

A soft knock was heard on the door. Ella strutted in as soon as she got the news. She was at Amanda's apartment. “Honestly Amanda, I saw this coming; I knew it, and that was why I tried to let you know.” “Honestly Ella, I feel really disappointed; my parents would be highly disintegrated with this,” she sobbed. “It's fine, I have to accept my fate," she shrugged. “Help me dial my secretary's number; tell him to prepare the cab. I'm leaving my apartment; it's high time I revive the death project I left behind.” She stood up, her right hand vehemently drying her face, and she dived into the shower, trying to get over everything. As the evening approached, Amanda had just completed the initial phase of her project at her father's company. "Hello, please take me home; I've completed my day. Please make it quick." Kelly, the cab driver, replaced her previous driver. After a few minutes, Kelly arrived and signaled Amanda to get in before they drove off. “Take your left; we are heading to my apartment; I'm not back to the family mansion yet,” Amanda announced, taking off her huge sunglasses and letting out a loud yawn. "Alright, ma'am,” Kelly stared at the front mirror. He soliloquized, "She's wasted; she must be having a very rough day." He would occasionally turn backwards just to see if she was okay. Amanda lowered herself to the seat, her eyes bulgy. “Ma'am, are you okay? I'm afraid and curious, please permit me to quickly get you something to eat. I do not want to lose my job; I value your family so much, and I know my place,” he defended. "Thank you, Kelly, please kindly help me with my bag; take them upstairs, including the provisions in the boot." She stepped out of the car, her vision blurring as she staggered her way through. She was on the verge of opening the sitting room door when she bumped into Kelly. “Oh no! Ma'am Amanda, I'm so sorry, I didn't see you; please forgive me; here, you should sit.” He begged as he guided her to the seat. Amanda took a deep breath, her eyes rolling in circles, her heart still pounding. The events of yesterday with her ex-husband, Jason, were still fresh in her mind. “Ma'am, I just sorted out the provisions you bought; I guess you bought them for your dinner, so I get to start going.” Amanda pulled him back, her eyes flashing open. Pulling him even closer. “Don't go, please stay with me, please...” Tears trickled down her cheek, Kelly stood frozen in shock, her eyelids parted—something was definitely wrong. He swallowed hard, his mind running in circles. “Ma'am, you need... to calm down.” He paused, staring closely at her. "Kelly, if you leave me here, something bad might happen," she whispered even louder. "Help me, take me to my room," she pleaded. He swallowed hard again, his feet trembling; even though he sensed her vulnerability, he remained rooted in shock. “Could this be happening?” he muttered before letting out a loud gasp.” He reached out to her, cupping her from behind; she could barely stand on her feet. He lifted her up, one step at a time, as they climbed the staircase—his heart racing in fear. “How do I break free from this? But then again, she needs my help.” Kelly muttered again, confusion laced at the edge of his expression. He dropped her on the bed; their eyes lurked together, her vision blurry, Jason's face card displaying on Kelly's face. “Make me happy,” the word finally escaped. Kelly paused, her beauty overwhelming; his eyes darted around as if he wasn't getting the message. “Forget about everything; you're in safe hands; just make me feel like a woman,” she said, her eyes teary—her pain was defeating. She yanked off her bra from within, her gown losing its grip on her body. Kelly's gaze deepens as he hesitates to proceed further. She pulled him towards her, his hand perfectly cupped around her waist. She removed his clothing and locked her lips with him. The fragments from her lips tickled him; their heat was evident on the bedsheet. "Even if this is all I get today, I'm okay," she said, her eyes closed, savoring the moment before the light faded. The next morning, Amanda and Kelly were seen on bed cuddling each other. “Thank you so much, Kelly; you are a genius on bed.” He smiled, already flattered by her words. “I'm glad I could ease your stress; I never wanted you to do anything drastic to yourself.” “Very thoughtful; you really are a nice man. She paused then resumed, Can we do this again? "He frowned, twisting his lips to the other side." "Alright, I understand the situation. Are you still unclear about what happened last night? He nodded in agreement. I know you never expected this, but you honestly deserve it.” Kelly's jaw dropped as he tried to stiffen the air within. “Thank you so much, ma'am.” “Enough already; call me Amanda, and one more thing, this is for you.” She brought out a white envelope. "That's a contract marriage agreement; please don't say no; marry me and act as my husband," she disclosed. “What! He exclaimed as he jerked off the bed, trying so hard to interpret the entire ordeal. "Relax, Kelly, you have nothing to worry about or even lose here; I needed someone to fall back on because if my parents should find out that the marriage they once were against three years ago was no more. I don't want this to happen, as it would truly break their hearts. I want them to continue believing that I am still married. Can you do this for me? He let out a loud gasp, his eyebrows raised in astonishment. He paused, then resumed. "I will, but I just hope that nothing goes wrong at the end of the day." "Okay, leave that to me, alright, so deal?" "Deal." “Alright, it's fine.” He shrugged. Light fades.
