Vestuvious' Recounting and Reveal

1529 Words
Vestuvious took a deep breath, looked over at Laurel, and spoke gently. "Laurel... darling, I think our daughter deserves to know, so I'm going to start a bit further back." Vestuvious said aloud. "I agree, Ves." Head High Priestess Laurel took a deep breath, briefly closing her eyes and continued. "Go ahead." At her blessing, Vestuvious stood up and walked around the ornate table full of simple foods, snacks, and drinks to Laurel. Sitting down beside her, He couldn't resist turning his head to face her... only to become faced with her vibrant green eyes and gentle loving smile...mesmerizing him instantly. 'MATE! MATE! We have a mate, Vestuvious!' His wolf exclaimed excitedly as he danced around in his head. 'Best part about our mate is it's our first love!!' At this, Vestuvious smiled and responded to him. 'I agree, Drako. It's the best thing that we could've hoped for.' Vestuvious smiled lovingly back at Laurel and eagerly grabbed her hand... sparks instantly traveling up his arm and throughout the rest of his body. His smile widened even more as he watched his beloved Laurel's eyes widen in surprise and smile joyously. "MATE! My second chance!" Laurel whispers. Vestuvious smiles and nods his head. "Yes, baby. We're mates. The Moon Goddess granted our wish after all these years." They quickly embraced each other. "I love you, baby. Now and forever." they said together before embracing again and sharing a long-overdue kiss. Karrah smiled as she snuggled into Maxius and watched her parents, still a little shocked. After a few minutes, Karrah cleared her throat and spoke, glancing quickly at Sable... now sleeping soundly. "Ummm... mom... dad... as happy as I am that I now know you dad and that you've got your second chance mate, mom, shouldn't we get back to the matter at hand?" They chuckled as they quickly pulled apart. "She's right, Ves. It's time for your recounting." Laurel settled back and quickly waved her right hand in a clockwise circular motion. Instantly, honey, tea, and a dash of milk was put in a beautiful teacup. Once more, in the same circular motion, her cup was steaming. Finally, with the third circle motion of her hand, her teacup floated quickly but carefully into her hands. Vestuvious looked over at Karrah and started talking. "First off, I'm so sorry that I wasn't there. I didn't know that your mother was pregnant before I went on assignment. If I knew, I would've found a way to have been there." Karrah scrunched her eyebrows in confusion. "Assignment? What assignment?" Karrah asked. "Our King kept receiving reports about rogues gathering in vast numbers close to large packs, temples, and covens of both witches and vampires. Vampires even visited him regarding the unusually large groups of rogues scattered throughout all the Kingdoms. All of us were losing more and more members, but none of our single efforts were successful. So, the leaders of these four factions came together on neutral territory to try and decide on joint missions. They decided that they'd all place a select few into the mists of these rogues to try and figure out what's been causing them to band together in these vast numbers." Vestuvious glanced over to Sable and smiled before continuing. "I attended this meeting as our King's head Beta. When they had all agreed, he mind-linked me to tell me that I was going to be one of the first to leave out on this mission. I was to prepare as soon as we got back to the castle. Once we got back, I went to my quarters and packed, leaving my bag on my bed. About three days passed before Pack Alphas started coming to the castle. We all gathered in the ballroom. After all the Alphas arrived, our King announced the plan. All the Alphas appeared to be on board, so we started to get assigned. Each Alpha was instructed to accept the assigned into their packs, adding a mind link to those of us assigned." Vestuvious paused long enough to take a drink of strong coffee before continuing. "Alpha Jax was in attendance with his father. I was originally going to be assigned to the Blood Rise pack, but I was pulled toward Alpha Jax and his father. I told our King, so my assignment was changed. Your mother was one of the Royal Healers and Communicators with the Moon Goddess. We've been dating for about three years at this point, so she was granted permission to come on assignment with me. We became intimate on a regular basis roughly three and a half months before we went to the Midnight Sky pack. After about six months of us being there, your mother started feeling sick, and I was instructed to live like a rogue. The goal was to discover what and who was behind the massive rogue organization and find out what they were seeking " Karrah's parents shared a look with a light hand squeeze before he continued. "Your mother went to the pack Dr while I met with Alpha Jax. He was just starting to take over Alpha duties. The pack Dr was new, so I was worried and asked about him as soon as I opened the Alpha Office door. Jax looked a little taken aback, but he answered me. Then we went into details about my assignment. I had to act like I was breaking my pack bond and that I was bitter with Alpha Jax... and it had to be believable." Vestuvious took a deep breath and continued. "Soon after Jax and I started planning the bait, his father walked in. I was supposed to spar with his dad, appear to black out, and continue hitting him after he fell, hit Jax when he tried to pull me off his father, then run away from the pack. I wasn't even allowed to say goodbye to your mother. Our plot had to start as soon as we left his office. Scouts told us we were being watched by rogues at multiple points. I only had enough time to mind link your mother and tell her 'It's time. Love you.' We started our show by arguing just behind the front door of the pack house so loud that it could be heard all the way to the pack's closest woods to the pack house, and continued it outside. His dad hit me in the back of the head to start it off. The whole scene lasted about five minutes." "We had to go all out to make it believable, so I had some massive wounds. They watched me for about a year before they approached me. To the rogues, I was a fresh rogue unable to be trusted immediately, and was apparently at odds with my pack. We even staged periodic meetings where Jax would find me, hand me a package, and audibly try to get me to return to the pack for the first month, saying things like he was wrong, and that his father wanted to apologize. Eventually, some of the rogues started to come to see me. I was slowly gaining intel that our King as well as the Alphas needed. They didn't trust me with everything yet." Vestuvious took a drink at the same time as Maxius and continued. "When the news of the attack reached me, I was on my way back from the castle. I just got past the temple when Jax howled and I sped up as much as I could. Alpha mind linked me and begged me to help get Sable here to the temple. Laurel always talked about coming here, and I missed her... so I didn't hesitate. Especially because Sable is an innocent newborn meant for great things. I prayed to the Moon Goddess for her to be here. Alpha Jax mind linked your trio to me." Vestuvious quietly looked over to Karrah and spoke softly. "You look so much like your mother. I just didn't realize at that time that you're my daughter. I do have to say, I'm glad you are... and I'm so proud of you." Vestuvious looked over at Laurel, then asked her a question. "Just out of curiosity, who rejected you so that I can thank them?" Laurel smiled before responding. "It was the Dr. The day you left when I went to the office was when I found him and was told I was pregnant. He rejected me right after he gave me the results. I moved here to the Temple three days later. I found out roughly four years later that he had taken a chosen mate, had a pup, and then got killed when they were on the way to her pack to visit her parents. Last I knew, it was just their pup that survived the attack." They were all quiet for a few minutes before starting to talk again. "So that's why I grew up here at Mt. Seeker's Temple?" Karrah asked quietly. "Yes, sweetheart. I wasn't sure if I'd ever see your father again, and the Moon Goddess told me that it was time to come here."
