The start of a new hope.
As I am standing here on the bus stop of the busy road of Sheikh Zayed waiting for the bus to arrive, I keep checking my appearance. My hair is tied in a bun style while my makeup looks natural and fresh. I put on my fave shade of coral peach lipstick to match my business casual clothes for my first interview. I feel nervous yet excited. Mix emotion keeps spreading on my face as i keep on thinking of what to say infront of the interviewer. I woke up very early for me to have enough time to retouch when I reach my destination. When the bus arrive, i hurriedly went inside and tap my NOL card while my eyes search for a vacant seat. The trip will only take 30 minutes from Zayed road gojng to Zabeel area. When i arrived at the said place, i went to the front desk to show my appointment and she handed me an Applicant's ID pass with number 25 printed on it. I suddenly feel anxious thinking if will i be able to meet their standard or will i be able to answer their questions? All these thoughts keep puffing out my head. When it was my turn, i went inside the room and saw two men wearing a Lab Coat. I sat on the chair infront and greeted them with a smile.
"Good day Miss Samira. my name is Doctor Oliver and he's Doctor Noah. Are you ready for your interview?" he asked.
"Yes Doc." i replied
" We evaluated your resume and i noticed that you majored in Business Management. Why choose to work in a hospital?
"To be honest i applied to other company where i can use my knowledge but none of them answered back. Only your hospital sent an email to me for the interview." i replied
"Are you competent enough to do your task?" doc. noah asked.
"Yes. I am very competent." i said
"Tell us what is it in you that the other applicants waiting outside this room don't have?" doc oliver asked.
"The traits i am proud about myelf are being flexible, efficient, and hospitable which is what the hospital needed. I may not a graduate of any medical fields but i can assure you that i can easily adopt to my environment." i answered.
The interview went on. After some question and answer portion, they told me to wIt for their call within this week for the result. I stand up and say thank you then find my way out. As i was walking, i feel my knees and hands tremble. Hoping that they did not notice my body shaking during the interview. I sat for a while to compose myself then after awhile, i decided to go home. It's a very long day for me and i feel exhausted. I lay down on the sofa in the living room facing the ceiling. I thought my family in the Philippines. My parent named me Samira Montes and i am the second of the 5 siblings. The eldest is Shana. She graduated BS. Commerce and currently w.orking in a bank. The 3rd is Scarlet. She graduated BS. Hotel and Restaurant Management. The 4th is Selen. She is a Teacher and the youngest is Stela who is still in college taking up BS. Education. My family was once well-off. My parent owned a fishery, rattan export/import business, and a banana plantation. My sisters and I went to a prestigious school and had everything we need until one day, my dad got sick. He had a Cancer and he needs to undergo chemotherapy. My Mom did everything to save his life to the point that we sell all the properties we have just to pay the hospital bills. To make my life story short, my dad did not survive. He passed away. We moved in a smaller house which my mom bought from the money that was left. We survived but not the same as before. We manage to cope up and continue living starting from scratch.
Now that i finished the interview, my thoughts was will i get the job? If i can't get a proper job within this month, i can't pay my bills. I need to have a job as soon as possible. Feeling pressured makes me feel drained. I just hope that i can get a proper work now.
"Hey Sam, how was your interview? July asked. She is my flatmate/bff.
" I don't k ow yet. They said to wIt for them to call me within this week."i said. "Do you think they will contact me? Do i need to look for another job incase they will not send a beep? " i asked July.
"Don't be silly Sam. Be optimistic! Who knows they might call you tomorrow."she replied.
