September 7, 1940 September 7, 1940September 7, 1940It was close to five o’clock when Hetty and Eva finished the last interview of the day and were finally able to take a moment of rest upstairs in the warm sunlight that reached the roof. It was a brief respite for them after the last few months, as the odds of an air-raid drill during the day had been steadily increasing. Business was growing, and since the RAF had been keeping most of the bombers at bay, Eva was now sharing duties with Miss Plumley at the Bond Street office every other week. The rotations between the country and London seemed to give Hetty, Eva and Elizabeth something to look forward to. Being busy, working and going back and forth between the city and the country was a welcome distraction from concerns about air-raids.
