A 25 MILLION DOLLAR DEAL
CHAPTER ONE
“What insolence!. What do you take me for?” Mr. Harrison bellowed, his voice reverberating through the office.
“We’re sorry sir” Mr. Wilson stammered, his voice laced with panic.
“Save your insincere apologies. I have no use for them”
“I’m calling off the contract. I refuse to associate with a company like yours” Mr. Harrison declared vehemently. With that, he stormed out, his bodyguards swiftly following in his wake.
“Mr. Harrison... Mr. Harrison!” Mr. Wilson’s voice trailed off as he watched helplessly. His frustration boiled over as he slammed his hand onto the table, the sharp sound echoing in the room. “Damn it!” he muttered under his breath.
“Calm down dear” his wife said soothingly.
At that moment, a sharp knock echoed through the office. “Come in” Mr. Wilson called out, his voice tight with frustration.
His secretary entered promptly. “Good day sir. A man in his mid-fifties is here to see you. He claims to have a proposal to offer" She stated.
Mr. Wilson adjusted his glasses slowly. “Let him in” He ordered, trying to mask his irritation.
“Yes, right away” The secretary replied, nodding briskly before exiting the office.
“What could this deal possibly entail? I hope it’s something substantial” Mrs. Wilson mused, her eyes glinting with hope.
“It should be" Mr. Wilson responded with cautious optimism.
The door swung open, and a distinguished man stepped inside, taking a seat directly opposite Mr. Wilson. “Good day”.
“Good day” They exchanged formal greetings.
“Let’s cut to the chase and get guwn to business Mr. Wilson. You know I would really love us to become business partners, but first, I wish to propose a deal” The man said, a sly smile curling at the corners of his lips.
“A deal worth fifty million naira” He added. Mr. Wilson’s eyes lit up with interest immediately.
Mrs. Wilson’s eyes widened in astonishment. “Fifty million naira?!” She exclaimed, unable to hide her excitement.
“We already have a deal” She announced, advancing toward the man with a stride.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name" Mr. Wilson interjected, his voice more lively that before.
“Taylor" the man replied smoothly.
“Please disregard my wife’s reaction; she’s simply very enthusiastic” He said with a smile that failed to reach his eyes.
“Oh no, I appreciate her enthusiasm” Taylor said with a wry smile.
“So, Mr. Wilson, my proposition is this: I seek a one-night stand with one of your daughters tonight in exchange for fifty million naira. Do we have a deal?”
Mr. Wilson’s eyes widened in shock. “A one-night stand with my daughter?” His voice rose, the anger in his voice was evident.
“We have a deal" Mrs. Wilson asserted, shaking hands with Taylor firmly. “Let me see you out" She added, guiding him toward the door.
“May I have your ID? I’ll need to contact you” She requested as he approached the threshold.
“Certainly" Mr. Taylor replied with an affable smile and handed her a card before making his way out.
“What was that about? Why didn’t you let me give him a piece of my mind?” Mr. Wilson fumed once the door closed behind Taylor.
“What piece of your mind?” Mrs. Wilson countered, her voice calm but firm. “You nearly jeopardized everything for us" she added.
“What do you mean by that?” Mr. Wilson’s anger was palpable as he glared at her.
“I mean, let’s consider our situation. We’re facing a severe financial loss in the company. We’re teetering on the edge of bankruptcy” she explained, her tone growing more serious.
“Fifty million…have you considered the extent to which that could alleviate our problems?” She pressed.
“So, you propose using Mia as collateral?” He asked incredulously.
“Of course not. Mia is too fragile for that” She retorted firmly. “I’m referring to Eleanor" She said almost in a whisper.
Mr. Wilson’s gaze shifted to her abruptly, and she could see a flash of rage in his eyes. “Eleanor” He repeated and then a sly smile formed on his lips. “Deal”
“Excellent choice” Mrs. Wilson chuckled.
She picked up the ID card and dialed Mr. Taylor’s number. “So we’ve come to a decision. Where should she be sent?” She asked.
“Paradise Hotel. 9 PM” Taylor instructed.
“And the payment?” She inquired.
“I’ll transfer the funds immediately, provided you agree to give the girl fifty percent of the sum” his voice was firm and assured.
Mrs. Wilson glanced at her husband, who nodded in agreement. ‘Why does she always get so lucky?’ she cursed silently.
“Of course, Mr. Taylor" Her voice was sweet and accommodating.
“I suppose we have a deal then?” He confirmed.
“Yes, deal” She replied decisively.
**
“Good day sir!”
“Welcome, sir!”
“Good morning sir!”
The employees bowed as he walked past them, but he just ignored them all, their greetings going unnoticed.
His secretary hurried to his side. “Good day, sir” She greeted, though she knew her efforts were likely to be ignored.
“What’s on my agenda today?” He asked, his voice clipped and professional.
“A contract with the G&L company, a review of last week’s work, and a contract signing with the FYB company at Paradise Hotel at exactly 9 PM” She read from her notebook.
“Good. Get me my coffee” He ordered.
“Yes, sir" she replied, bowing before hurrying away.
A bodyguard opened the door for him as he approached. “Good day, sir" he greeted, but like the others, his salutation went unacknowledged.
He walked into his office and settled into his chair. Almost immediately, he picked up a file from his desk. It was time to focus on his work.
**
8 PM
“Welcome back, Mom!. Welcome back, Dad!” Mia clapped her hands with enthusiasm.
“How have you been, sweetheart?” Mr. Wilson patted her head affectionately.
“Good” She responded brightly.
“Where is your sister?” He inquired, his tone shifting to one of concern.
Mia’s expression fell. “Why are you looking for that girl, Dad?” She asked, plain irritation in her voice.
“I need to attend to something” He said, brushing past Mia and headed upstairs.
“Dad!” Mia called out, trailing after him.
“Calm down, sweetheart, your father needs to get to work. He has important matters to handle for us" Mrs. Wilson interjected with a knowing smile.
**
A gentle knock sounded at the door. “Come in” Eleanor’s voice replied, soft and inviting. Mr. Wilson pushed the door open and walked inside.
“Good evening, Dad" Eleanor greeted, bowing her head respectfully.
“Bless you child" Mr. Wilson said with a warm smile.
“How have you been?” He asked, genuine concern in his tone.
“I’m well Dad" Eleanor responded with a radiant smile.
“It’s your birthday in five days, so I decided to visit and bring you something" He began.
“Thank you, Dad" she beamed.
“You know Eleanor, your mother asked me to give you a special gift for your birthday" He continued, pulling out his phone and entering some digits. Soon, Eleanor’s phone beeped with a notification.
She glanced at her phone, her eyes widening in disbelief. “Twenty-five million dollars?” She mouthed, stunned by the amount.
“Where did you get such a large sum? And why are you giving this to me?” She asked, her voice trembling with emotion.
“Your mother requested it. She wanted you to have this on your twenty-fifth birthday" He explained. “She won’t be around to see it, and I must honor your late mother’s last wish" He said solemnly.
Eleanor looked at her father, tears welling in her eyes. She embraced him tightly, overwhelmed with gratitude.
“Thank you, Dad" she said, her voice choked with emotion.
“No…remember…no tears" He said with a comforting smile. “There’s no crying when Dad’s around.” Eleanor nodded, wiping her tears and returning his smile with warmth.
Mr. Wilson spun sideways and pulled out a bottle of wine from his bag. “Let’s celebrate!” He exclaimed with excitement.
Eleanor’s smile grew. Mr. Wilson placed the wine on the floor and retrieved two glasses, pouring the wine carefully.
Noticing Eleanor’s distraction, he surreptitiously added the contents of a small bottle into her glass, then discreetly set it aside.
“Cheers!” he said, lifting his glass. They clinked their glasses together. Mr. Wilson observed as Eleanor brought her glass to her lips, his smirk widening with satisfaction.
With a final glance at her cup, Eleanor drank it all in one go.
A moment later, she felt a sudden wave of dizziness, her head spinning uncontrollably.
“What’s wrong, dear?” Mr. Wilson asked, concern feigned in his voice as he watched her struggle to sit up.
“Nothing Father" She replied trying to get up. But immediately she did, she lost her balance and fell flat on the bed unconscious.
The door swung open immediately, Mrs. Wilson walking, Mia and one other guy walking in.
“The deed is about to go down", Mrs. Wilson sounded.
" Now that she's down, how do we get her to the hotel?”, Ethan asked.
" Through teleporting “, Mr. Wilson demonstrated. " Are you getting dummer and dummer each and every second?”, He half-yelled.
“I'm sorry father", He bowed his head. " Come on “, Mrs. Wilson waved off. " You shouldn't be so harsh on him, he was probably confused, he might be as smart as Mia but, trust me darling, he is one of the best “, She smiled.
" Aren't you my little bunny? “, She asked sweetly. " I am, Thanks mom”, Ethan flashed her a smile.
Mr. Wilson sighed briefly. " Raise her up and carry her to the car, then You drive off to the hotel ofcourse”, He said.
Ethan bent slowly to carry her up, he slowly lifted her up grunting loudly, suddenly his leg slipped, he landed right on the floor with a loud thud, Eleanor's head slowly resting on his tigh.
“Haaaaa!!", He screamed loudly. “Shut the f**k up!!", Mr. Wilson yelled.
“ That's how he goes to prove how smart he is", He was referring to Mrs. Wilson.
He bent down and in a swift motion he lifted Eleanor up in a bridal style.
“Go open the car door", He said walking out.
Mia stared at Ethan, he was in so much pain and didn't seem like anyone that would get up any soon, with no other thought, she rushed after her father.
She slowly opened the door. Mr. Wilson laid her on the seat slowly. He shut the door to see Mrs. Wilson standing right next to him.
“I will be taking her", She said. “ Mo… ", Mia eyes widened.
“Are you sure?", He asked. “Are you worries about me or doubting me".
“Dear hubby we both know u get the work perfectly done with no stains", She smiled collecting the car keys.
“Ok, be careful", Mr. Wilson gave a not- so- happy smile.
“Don't worry about me", She said sliding into the driver seat. She ignited the key in the ignition, twisting it sideways a bit which turned on the engine and soon the car zoomed off.
