Jane I stood there, ready for her to fight back, but she didn’t. Instead, she stormed off, her face red with fury and embarrassment. “Wow, Jane,” June whispered admiringly. “You’re so brave. I wish I could be like you.” After breakfast, Priscilla gathered all the maids to assign the daily chores.
