The Company

Chapter 1 Natalia started walking down a green pathway in line waiting for her name to be called. She looked at her surroundings towards the crowd searching for her mother and girlfriend but could not seem to find them, panic starts to set in, "I don't want them to miss me walking down the aisle", Natalia said to herself. "Natalia Allen" the announcer said. She started going up the stairs and walked on the stage gracefully towards her University's Dean and he gives her diploma, the feeling is indescribable, the feeling of accomplishment, finally she stepped of the stage towards her assigned chairs. "Well congratulations this concludes this year's graduates, Congratulations class of 2012 may all of your dreams come true" the dean praised. Everybody grabbed their caps and threw them in the air, all you hear is screaming and laughing. Natalia starts to look around the crowd to see if she sees her mother or Michelle (Natalia's girlfriend) and just can't seem to find them. She started to worry that something happened, it's not like them, not to be with her. After a good 15 minutes she sees Michelle walking towards her with tears in her eyes. "Michelle where have you been and where is mom?" Michelle just looked at Natalia trying to figure out what to say. "Natalia your phone began to ring while waiting for you to be called and I picked it up, it was the hospital... umm your mom, she was in a car accident on her way here. A car ran a red light and crashed into her, she is in surgery", Michelle said sadly. All Natalia could think of at the moment was the worse, what kind of surgery? Is it serious? Will she be ok? Tears began to build up in her eyes. "What hospital is she in? " Natalia asked shakily. "St Clair's Hospital" Michelle answered. Natalia started running towards her car, put the key to open door, gets in and starts the car and starts to drive towards the hospital, not even realizing she didn't even wait for Michelle. Natalia arrives at the hospital about 10 minutes later. She started to walk towards the hospital doors realizing she is too nervous and anxious for whatever news to come, Natalia arrived at the front desk. "I'm looking for my mother Erica Allen she was in a car accident" Secretary nods and starts to type in the computer after a couple of seconds she looks up. "She is in surgery in the 5th floor go there, they should be able to give you more information", Natalia quickly nodded. "Thank you" Natalia said. Natalia started to run towards the elevator doors, She goes in and presses the number 5. A couple of seconds pass by and the elevator opens its doors at the 5th floor and she steps out and looks around for a desk, towards her left She sees a desk and another nurse, Natalia walks towards her. "I'm Erica Allen's daughter they told me she is in surgery in this floor, she was in a car accident" Natalia said worriedly. "Your mom was in a car accident where she suffered internal bleeding and her organs are very weak the doctors are doing all they can in surgery the waiting room is over there", pointing at couple of seats and a desk. "I'll inform the doctors working with her to start to give you updates, ok?" She said. Natalia nods and start to walk towards the waiting area as she sits down She looks at the hospital pail grey walls and notices that She is still in her graduation gown and starts to take it off and place it in the seat next to her. Natalia starts to analyze today's events where just this morning she was enjoying coffee at her home with her mother planning out their day together. Natalia closed her eyes and felt the numbness cloud over her mind, waiting impatiently for more news about her mother. About 30 minutes later She feels someone tapping her shoulder she opens her eyes and looks up And sees Michelle sits next to Natalia. "What did they tell you?" Michelle asked concerned. Natalia looks at her as she was about to answer, as she sees two doctors coming towards them. Michelle and Natalia stand up. I just look at their faces and no expression is set and my hands start to shake, Michelle grabs them as they arrive. "Natalia Allen?" I nod. "I'm sorry to inform you that your mother didn't make it she had internal bleeding caused by the accident we tried everything but it was too late I'm sorry" he concluded. All of the sudden Natalia felt her knees weak and giving up on her, Michelle grabbed her and took her over to the chairs all She felt were the tears running down her cheek, not comprehending the events of today, my graduation is supposed to be one of the happiest moments in someone's life and here I am in a hospital with my girlfriend, motherless". *** A week has passed and Natalia is in Michelle's car on their way home from the funeral and Michelle grabs Natalia's hand and intertwines their fingers together trying to comfort Natalia. She just let her know that she wasn't feeling anything. "Natalia I'm getting worried you haven't said a full sentence since the hospital and you need to grieve and talk, you can't hold everything in, you are guarded up and you keep pushing me away, I just want to know what you are thinking" Michelle said. As they arrived at Natalia's house she parked the car in the drive way, staring into Natalia's eyes She sees her eyes glistening and Natalia just couldn't deal with her right now and just looked at her lap in the car. The next few words will forever be hurting her heart. "I need to be left alone, I don't want you to come and look for me. I can't continue to be with you right now, I don't know if i can be with you in the future. Right now you are not needed in my life so please respect my wishes" Natalie said coldly. While getting out of the car, Michelle grabbed her arm trying to stop Natalia. She looked at her with tears streaming down her cheeks. "I'm sorry" Natalia whispered as She yanked her arm from her hold and left her car and went in her house. Natalia ran upstairs to her room grabbed some of her bags and started taking her clothes and personal items. As She finished packing and about to walk out of her childhood house with memories of her mom and of Michelle She looked around, sighed and walked out of her house. 4 years later... Natalie was walking down a line of agents for the first time in a long time she was excited and somewhat happy as she hears names being called by the announcer. "Agent Natalie Allen" he said. She walked up the stage and a certificate with a badge was handed to her and placed the badge on her blazer. "I would also like to commend Agent Allen on her extraordinary work in our computer labs where she helped to create a new safe program for our bureau" said the announcer while placing a golden pin with the FBI logo. "That's right, I'm graduating again but from the FBI top of my class".
