Chapter 3

It has been a week since Natalia and Ramos had arrived to Boston and they started to get settled in their new apartment provided by the bureau, it has three bedrooms, wooden floors, two bathrooms a beautiful kitchen. Both Natalia and Ramos were at awe with their new apartment. Natalia has been studying her case. Learning about The Company and making a profile for a resume for when she would attend her interview. Natalia learned that The Company has had problems with their network security and programming, which is perfect since that's what she has been doing for the past four years.

Apart from their computer problems, she had learned that The Company has changed CEO, the daughter of owner of the Company has taken charge at a very young age of twenty-eight, which she found it interesting the sudden change and the company was rising in stocks and in popularity. After all the research she started to think how to get dressed and go see Michelle, today was the deadline that She assigned to herself to see Michelle so close to the interview. Natalia got up and headed towards the living room looking for Ramos and found him sitting on the couch reading some files, as she sat down next to him.

"I have to go see a friend of mine who works near The Company to let her know of my work" Natalia said.

"Where does she work?" asked Ramos curiously.

"She works at a Bar and grill type club place, I really haven't seen it" Natalia said nervously, thinking about her meeting with Michelle.

"I'm going" Ramos said excited as he got up.

"Where are you going, why?" Natalia said now worried.

"To get ready, and start getting ready I'm hungry" Ramos yelled as he stepped in his room.

Natalia groaned to herself and got up and went in her room to start getting ready.

About one hour and half later they were both in the car parking outside of Mitch's Bar and Grill which was in big letters above the place. Before Ramos got out of the car Natalia stopped him by grabbing his arm slightly.

"I haven't seen my friend in four years and I didn't leave it in a good note" Natalia sighed and continued. "Just letting you know in case we get kicked out" Natalia lightly smiled and looked at him.

"Well was it your fault?" Ramos said. Natalia nodded.

"Well we have to let her know, she knows you and works close to The Company and plus she might know people ok?" She nodded again.

They both got out of the car and walked in the place and Wow! The floors were all wooden, there was a section to the left where there were about 6 metallic tables with their metallic seats in the back of the place was a huge bar stretched horizontally and towards the right of the place was a medium size stage with a dance floor. As Ramos and me were looking around, a waitress came up to us.

"Table for two?" They both nodded.

They followed her and she sat us down in one of the tables handing us the menus.

"What would you like to drink?" the waitress said.

"Two Heinekens please" Ramos replied.

"Two Heinekens coming up" she said. Before she left Natalia stopped her.

"Excuse me I'm looking for Michelle she is the owner, Is she in?" I said

"Yes she is, do you have an appointment?" The waitress said.

"No but I'm a close friend and need to speak some business with her?" Natalia said getting aggravated.

"Sure that's what they all say?" She said with and sarcastic look. At this point I was getting angry. What does she mean that's what they all say. I'm not all... Also she was going to see Michelle today no question. So she cheated and pulled out her FBI badge and smugly looked at her and grinned.

Natalia loved seeing the change on her face from conceited to scare and she nodded.

"This way please" she said as she gestured to follow her.

Natalia got up slowly now realizing that she was going to see Michelle and that's where she started panicking internally she felt her mouth dry up and was getting hard to swallow and palms were already sweaty. Ramos pulled her arm to look at him.

"Calm down and be honest with her, I don't know what has happened to you two but honesty always works" he said partly smiling.

She nodded once again and began walking behind the waitress. She followed her towards the back of the establishment where the bar was and towards the right side was a door. We went through and passed the kitchen and towards the back was a door the waitress stopped and turned towards me.

"Wait here a moment while I tell her" she said and Natalia nodded.

About 4 minutes later the waitress came out and told her to go in. In her mind she told herself this is it, suck it up and go in and face the past. She walked in the office and it was beautiful, light grey walls with a lot of art painting, posters and pictures a big oak wood desk with wooden chairs all around. Then her eyes wondered to the person sitting behind the desk and her eyes looked at her beautiful dark brown eyes, their gaze met and it was like time froze without one word from neither of them. “I swear about 5 minutes passed in my mind but in reality maybe 1 minute passes and she turned her gaze down and sighed”.

"What are you doing here?" she whispered as she got up from her desk towards the side of the room where a window was she faced it while looking out and having her back towards Natalia.

This is where she starts to panic and start to think of what to say but she can't, nothing comes to mind as I finally take her in completely and gazed at her she was wearing black leggings with black biker boots and had and oversized I heart NY shirt with a white tank top and her black straight her almost reaching her waist, her tanned Latina skin. She then turned around to face Natalia and Natalia started to stare at her gorgeous plump lips and they opened.

"What are you doing here?" Michelle said this time louder with a hint of anger.

"I need to talk to you about my job it's important" I managed to say as I dropped my gaze.

She then walked towards her desk and sat down looking at Natalia and gestured for her to sit. She complied and sat in front of her.

"I was expecting an FBI agent at least that's what I was told" she said looking at her sad but most of, all anger.

"Well I am an FBI agent that is true, is part of the reason why I'm here" Natalia said.

"And the other part?" Michelle said.

"I needed to see you" Natalia said honestly. "I didn't know how, in the past, how to come to you after what I did and well my job gave me the push I needed all these past years. First of all I'm sorry for leaving without saying anything, I was not a sane person at that point of my life and for a while I was damaged. It's still not an excuse for what I have done to you. I don't expect you to forgive me, but I need to tell you some things." She said truthfully.

Natalia observed Michelle as she took in all Natalia said to her, she looked up at the ceiling impatiently as if trying to calm herself and then her face changed completely and anger took over as she looked at Natalia straight into her eyes.

"So let me get this straight, you came here because you need to talk to me about your job which has given you a 'little push' to come see me because if it wasn't for your job, I still wouldn't know anything about you" Michelle shouted.

"Yes...No I have wanted to see you I guess I was scared" Natalia said stuttering.

"You left without any contact, no email, phone call, a f*****g letter if you want to go old school. s**t! A f*****g text I don't know, something! I have thought you might even be dead!" She shouted.

"I'm sorry" was all Natalia could shout back.

Michelle closed her eyes and breathed slowly calming herself down, opened her eyes and looked at me. This time it was more serene, calm like she just realize a big weight was lifted from her shoulders and slightly smiled to herself. “This is where my guilt came in, noticing how selfish I was and how much hurt and worry I caused Michelle” Natalia thought.

"What do you need or want to tell me?" Michelle said serious.

"I missed you" Natalia whispered surprising herself.

"What do you need me to know" she said ignoring Natalia.

"I'm working an undercover case" Natalia said sighing and continued to tell her about her job and if she were to see her not to talk to her unless Natalia came over to her. Explained overall, not going into details of course. She did tell her she would be working at The Company and in the computer department. Basic things she needed to know. As she finished she looked at her.

"I need to introduce my partner Ramos he is in your restaurant eating and probably drinking." Natalia said.

"Is that all I need to know" Michelle said, still serious treating this as a business meeting. Making her feel a little degraded.

"I need your number for any emergency and I'll give you mine" Natalia said she just nodded and gave me her business card with her cell phone on the back of the card Natalia did the same.

Michelle got up from her desk and looked at Natalia as our time was up, Natalia slowly got up and as she passed by he grabbed her arm and stopped her.

"Don't" she whispered cutting Natalia from what she was going to say "Let's go meet your partner and get this over with" Michelle finish saying as she walked out of her office leaving me behind alone and frustrated.

All Natalia kept thinking to herself was “what have I done, ruining such a wonderful relationship, how could I end such a positive, happy, beautiful person from my life and as time passed continued to hurt her so much. I realized I didn't deserve her. I realized that Michelle and I could never be the same as before, she was always the one who had helped me and talked to me and now I notice she can’t even look at me and I'm the cause of it. My heart slightly broke at finally realizing what my actions have caused.
