OUR STORY

Brie’s POV It’s been 2 years since she left us, we promised to grow old together, have a peaceful life, raise our kids, and travel the world but It all turned into ashes with one single incident. I knew there was something that night. I knew “care to share?” I was startled by the voice behind me I turned around and looked “you came early” I replied with a smile “I wanted to help decorate the place,” he said and walked towards me “lendy you know you don’t have to” I leaned on the balcony and looked at him “where do we start?” Lendon asked I walked towards the boxes and pulled every item that was in it then explained what I want the decorations to be where it should be placed and what it should look like. As I finished giving directions we started decorating “so what were you thinking a moment ago,” he asked while hanging the letters that spelled happy birthday “it’s nothing” I answered and smiled weakly “I know you were thinking of her” he looked at me in the eye and continued “I can see it in your eyes” I just stood there playing with the spiderman party hats I was holding. “Ohh brie” my best friend Kathy said and rushed to hug me “I'm fine,” I said as I free myself from the hug “if you need someone to talk to we are always here,” Lendon said I sigh, this two are my crying shoulders when she left. They along with my mom and mother in law helped me pull myself together for my children. they were there when I mourned for her death. They never left my side checking on us every single day just to make sure that my children and I are doing ok. I owe them big time “good morning mommy, good morning aunt Kathy, good morning uncle Lendon” my birthday boy greeted as he walks down the stairs still rubbing his eyes “good morning birthday boy” I replied walking towards him and hugged him then kissed both his cheeks and headed to the kitchen “How was your sleep? Where’s your twin brother?” I asked while taking the cereal box out of the cabinet “it was awesome, I dreamt of mama again. he’s still asleep” he said smiling That statement broke my heart   Adriane is our eldest even if he and Arian are twins and just turn 9 today he doesn’t act like one especially when we talk about her mama. They are very close and I know it broke him too when his mama passed but he never showed anyone. one time I was crying my eyes out at 3 in the morning he came into my room and hugged me and told me everything is going to be ok and her mama wouldn’t want to see me in that state. I remembered crying myself to sleep hugging him. I even dreamt of Kendra that she was there hugging both of us but the next morning I woke up with only Adriane in my arms.  “really? What happened in your dream?” I asked and gave him the bowl of cereal “We were playing at the beach and she wished me happy birthday and gave me kisses all over my face” he replied and dug on his cereal “That was nice, finish your breakfast now and brush your teeth after. I’ll go continue decorating the house” I said as I walk out of the kitchen As I was walking he faintly whispered “she said she loves you so much” I turned around and hug him tight “I love her too sweetheart” I replied I finally let go of him and headed to the living room. Kathy walked towards me and hugged me tight soon after London joined the hug. “you don’t have to say anything; I know you need this,” she said After a while, they let go of me and we continued decorating the house. It is now full of spiderman themed items. From the front yard to the back garden that took us almost 2 hours decorating and it's now 9:30. Guests are arriving anytime soon. “can you take care of the rest? I’ll have to wake the little twins up” I said walking up the stairs Yes, we have two sets of twin boys Adriane Heleon and Arian john then our little monsters Pierre Andy and Zack Andrei who turned four a few months ago “sure no problem” Kathy replied I entered the twin's bedroom and found them soundly sleeping. I sat on andy’s bed and lightly pat his stomach  he opened his eyes and stretched his arms “good morning mommy,” he said as a yawn escape his tiny mouth I smiled at him and replied  “good morning bud” I gave him kisses that made him laugh “come on let’s wake Andrei because we need to get ready for your brothers birthday” Andy jumped off his bed and run towards his brother’s bed “Drei! drei! wake up, we gonna have a party ” he said and started shaking his brother “gently now buddy” Slowly Andrei opened his eyes and yawned “morning mommy,” he said and looked at his brother “good morning” I replied and scooped him out of his bed I grabbed Andy’s little hands and headed to the bathroom I place Andrei down then handed them their toothbrush “brush your teeth and I’ll get the shower ready” After they brushed their teeth I gave them a bath that took almost half an hour which is a world record by the way usually it takes about an hour to bath these little rascals. they are both wearing a black shirt, jeans, and black slip-on convers. I like making them wear dark colors in events like this because I know how messy they can be. “ok all done, go downstairs. aunt Kathy and uncle Lendon are there” before I can even finish my sentence they sprinted to the stairs “no running!!”  I shouted, the loud footsteps faded and when I peeked they are slowly walking towards the stairs I just can’t help but laugh. I entered the older twins' room and found them all dressed and ready. Even when they can pick different outfit they still love dressing alike  They are wearing a white shirt, black short sleeve polo black jeans and gray shoes “aww my boys have all grown up already,” I said and leaned on the door frame “Can I get a hug?” I spread my hands and they came to hug me “I know your mama is so proud of you. I just wish she could celebrate with us” I told them and hugged them tight “mom,” Adriane said and free himself from the hug “yes baby” I replied “guests are arriving already are you not going to get ready?” he replied “Yeah, you look like a disaster“ Arian agreed and gave me a look I just laughed and playfully pinched their cheeks “you brats think you’re old enough, even making fun of your mom,” I said as I shuffle their hair which made them sign and said at the same time “mom, my hair” I just shook my head and headed to my room I entered my bathroom and took a bath put some clothes on and light make up. I’m looking at my reflection in the mirror. Then saw our wedding photo on the background my eyes are starting to water when I heard a light knock on my door “brie a lot of guests are looking for you the boys are already downstairs,” Kathy said poking her head between the door I stood up and walk towards her then we headed downstairs “Iana” ken’s mom said and hugged me as I reached the last step “hey mom, glad you made it,” I said and smiled at her ken’s mother is a very nice and wonderful woman. When ken died she offered to help look after the kids. my mom and she took turns helping me. it was the hardest 2 years of my life. I swear if it weren’t because of their help I wouldn’t survive. “where do I put these presents?” she asked smiling “mom you know you don’t have to” I replied She just gave me a playful smile and said “They are my grandbabies, it’s nothing”  I shook my head and showed her where she could put the presents “I’ll leave you now, I have to look for my grandbabies” She said and left. More and more guests started to show up. ken’s family members showed up soon after her mom arrived. I’ve been running around the house checking if everything is in order. Not to mention I have to keep the little monsters out of trouble. The birthday party started with some games for the kids and of course a few for the adults. My mother was late and decided to come while the happy birthday song was going on. It’s now 5 pm and most of the twin’s guest has left. “did you enjoy your day?” I asked as I sat between them They moved closer to me and leaned “thank you, mommy” Adriane while smiling at me “yeah, it was awesome thanks mom” Arian replied and snuggled closer “glad you enjoyed, I just wish your mama was here” I whispered and hugged them closer “she’s always here” Arian whispered looking out the window "what are you looking at sweetie?" I asked looking out the window "uhm nothing I just realize it's already dark  outside" he replied  "ok... I have to prepare for dinner  When Kendra died what the police told us was they didn’t find a body or even remains at the scene they said the explosion must have burned everything. It felt odd but made sense so after talking to Kendra’s family they decided not to put her grave at the cemetery with an empty casket rather they suggested having dinner at our house every year for her death anniversary. Which I gladly agreed not thinking how much work it would be, having a birthday party in the morning and hosting a dinner at night. but I don’t mind, to be honest, because doing this makes me feel closer to her. Having her family and close friends around feels like having her around too.  I went to the kitchen and saw my mom and mother in law preparing the foods already  "ma you don't have to do this. I hosted this dinner I should be the one doing that" I said and looked at both of them "you did a lot hon. it's ok. where are your maides anyway?" my mother asked "I gave them the day off. they'll be here tomorrow. I just want to do this on my own today. I've been depending on others too much since she left. I just want to start being independent again" I told them which made them leave what the were doing and hugged me "it's ok to be fragile sometimes iana. we need it to be strong again" my mother in law said while patting my back "Mommy, can zack and Pierre play with us in the backyard? " we parted and looked where to voice was coming. I turned around and saw Adriane standing behind me  "ok... just be where we can see you and ask uncle lendon to switch the light outside" I replied smiling and kissed his cheek  he smiled back and left  "we should bring the food out" my mom said to my mother in law and left me alone in the kitchen *sigh*  I took a moment to compose myself before grabbing the last dish on the counter and headed to the dinning
