Chapter 3

Hannah suddenly showed up from nowhere although that’s expected since they both have to wait for David to pick them up in the park together.

“Listen, if you think I’ll condone any form or insult directed towards me then you’re wrong. I will rip the hair off your head strand by strand and enjoy the screams you let out in the process” Elizabeth threatened her in a brave attempt to defend Bella. It’s no news that Bella has been constantly insulted and abused by her own step sister since they first arrived in college, Eli used to just pretend things like that were not her business but as time went by she’s come to realize she can’t keep watching her friend suffer while she’s just expected to keep quiet about it.

“Oh so you now gossip about me to your friend huh? You’re both hopeless” Hannah said directing her words to Bella and paying no attention to Eli at all, she scoffs and hisses before walking out on the both of them.

“Thank you for defending me like that” Isabella confessed because honestly she’s growing tired of having to put up with all the struggles everyday of her life.

They talked some more for less than a minute before Bella’s father finally showed up as usual and left with both Hannah and Bella.

Eli on the other hand has a personal vehicle of her own and does not need to catch a bus or wait up for her parents.

That night in the Austin’s house was just the usual, Isabella was the outcast everything went normal until the following morning.

“Isabella!!!” A loud cry was heard from down the stairs but this time it wasn’t her step mother it was her own father who called out for her violently. “Yes father?” She says meekly as she rushes down to attend to her father. On getting to him a huge slap landed on her face and she fell to the ground, her father stood above her panting heavily and with eyes that looked like he was having a blood lust.

“Explain what happened Hannah” David said to Hannah who had been hiding behind the walls all these while, she walked towards them boldly and cleared her throat “I said, I saw Bella sneak out with your Mazda car last night but I didn’t think I should alert you…. Sometimes people can go rogue, this morning the car packed in the compound is badly dented and I wouldn’t want to be implicated for it” she finally relaxes her tone and watches Bella cower in pain and cowardice.

“I swear, I didn’t do it…. Father listen to me-me- I didn’t do it I swear” she struggled to get away from David’s wrath as she crawled backwards and away from him he approached her slowly and draws out his belt dramatically.

“You’ll learn to respect my stuffs” these are the last words he said before he unleashed all hell upon her, he wiped and flogged her mercilessly and she wished that she had just died a long time ago. Suffering so much for something she did not do she went straight to her room and locked herself in weeping silently.

In less than five minutes her door was kicked open by her father and he drags her down to the basement “you don’t deserve the luxury of even having a bed or a roof under your head, consider this your punishment….” He spat at her and kicked her before finally leaving her alone in the dark and rodent infested basement.

At this point she had no choice, she looked around and found a first aid kit luckily. Crying bitterly as she covered up her wounds all on her own “I wish everyone died!!” She yells at the top of her voice before finally sleeping off on the cold and bare floor.

After witnessing the torture and suffering her step sister went through Hannah felt fulfilled and left for school alone with David since she’s already been grounded.

Arriving in school Hannah meets up with her boyfriend Derek Miller, the captain of the senior football team of the school.. his parents are multi millionaires, his sportsmanship and wealth made him the most popular student to both students and staffs.

“Hey babe, what’s up? I hope your father wasn’t too angry about the damage done to the vehicle?” He asked with some worry in his voice but he managed to keep his composure and cool. “Ha ha ha…. You don’t trust me do you? She said as she laughed maniacally and clapped her hands, “I shifted the blame to my lazy ass weakling step sister and made her father punish her for something she didn’t do” without a hint of emotions in her voice she remarked and they both laughed about it before finally heading into their different lecture rooms.

Apparently it was Hannah who snuck out of the house the other night and attended a party with her popular boyfriend, he got drunk and asked to give her a ride home in her father’s car but on their way they had a slight accident here by leaving a major dent on the car, it was David’s favourite car.

“Where is Bella?” Mr Smith the professor asks the class and no one gave him an answer. “Everyone here appears to be dumb enough to actually conceal her whereabouts for me, I will find her and- and I will make sure that everyone here gets punished when I do” he angrily addressed the class because Bella refused to show up in his office the previous day.

“She’s home, locked away like an animal in a cage” Hannah gave a sharp but evil response making the whole class look in her direction, most soon averted their gazes from her except Eli…

Knowing how evil Hannah is and with the stories she’s heard from Bella there’s a chance that she’s really locked up in their home. “Once you get a hold of her you ask her to see me as soon as possible or she’s going to have to retake the entire course the next semester- class dismissed!” The class was dismissed angrily and they all scattered looking for the next lecture room for their next class.

“Hey witch what- what’s that nonsense about Isabella being locked away you said?” Elizabeth said as she approached Hannah bravely. “Oh so you’ve grown wings and now you want to pick fights for someone else?” Hannah said as she turns back to face Eli with an evil grin curved up her cheeks, “oh well she’s gotten what she deserved for being stupid and wreckless with dad’s properties.. you can ask her yourself when you see her” she added and turned back immediately walking away from Eli gracefully and slowly.

Eli looked at her scornfully and hissed “I’ve been calling her number all day with no response, I hope nothing serious has happened to her” She picks her phone and stares at it for some prolonged period of time “maybe I should just text instead of calling without an answer, when she sees it she should give me a reply” she said and immediately opened her message box and started typing to Bella.

“Hey dear, I wonder what’s wrong but I’ve been calling you all day without response I hope you’re fine. I’m also hoping that you reply me or call me whenever you get this, I’ll be attending a party this weekend which is next tomorrow and I think you should come along. It’ll be fun and I think you need a drink or two to unwind, I wouldn’t take no for an answer this time. Please be fine and do call me back when you get this. I love you best friend” she smiled and a hopeful smile curves up her lips she clicks send.
