Riley The night was rough. I couldn’t escape my memories and only kept reliving them. Sometimes it was games with Bentley, sometimes it was Garrett’s beatings, and sometimes it was nights Maverick. I remained in the bathroom in the tub, hiding from my thoughts, muffling my screams or waking from another nightmare. I couldn’t escape. I thought running away would be the end of it. I would be free from them, from all the pain, ridicule, from the emotional and physical abuse. It was daylight when I got out of the tube. I was sore, my ribs aching, my body stiff and crusty with sweat. I crawled slowly out of the tub before looking at myself in the mirror. My eyes were sunken, the bruise no longer as bright on my cheek as the purple faded from that to under my eyes instead, leaving huge bags. I
