The Alphas Rogue Mate

Aurora Smoke fills the air and the sounds of screams from people desperately trying to escape echo through the night. "Run Cassidy! Take Aurora and go! I will find you both!" "DAD!" A young Aurora screams as her mom runs with her in her arms. They hear a deafening roar as soon as they make it to the darkened treeline. All she feels is a sharp pain and then a snap as the bond with her father breaks, her mom stumbles and lets out a piercing scream as her bond with her mate snaps as well. "He sacrificed himself for us..." I scream as I wake up soaked in sweat. 'Ugh, I feel like I was ran over. Why do I always have the same dreams over and over. Why must I relive my worst nightmares?' I ask Athena my wolf. 'You will understand in time Aurora. The Goddess has her reasons.' I sigh and look up at the ceiling. I should be excited since I turn 18 in a few days, not stressing about why I must relive my past over and over every night. I will finally be able to find my mate, that's every wolfs dream. But I doubt I will. Plus I don't know if he will want me when he finds out I'm a hybrid. Especially a witch hybrid. Witches and wolves don't tend to get along from what my mom explained to me. I roll out of bed and head to the shower to get cleaned up for the day. I let my mind wander as the hot water runs down my back. It's been a lonely few years ever since my mom was killed. I don't remember much of my father except for the night he sacrificed himself for me and mom. I was only four when everything changed for us, I was an early bloomer in the werewolf community as I had already received my wolf on my birthday that year. Mom and Dad were so excited. Flashback "Mommy! Mommy! I heard her! I heard my wolf!" I race in to tell my mom and see her standing there with my dad. I remember their shocked faces, but soon they both smiled at me. "Oh honey that's wonderful! You're going to be a force to be reckoned with when you're older" my dad proudly says. "What's her name sweetheart?" my mom asks. "Athena, she's really pretty! I can't wait until you can see her!" Mom and Dad's eyes suddenly glaze over and I know someone is linking them. I see the worried looks as soon as they are done. "What's wrong mommy?" "Take her and run Cassidy, we knew this day was coming. I just didn't think it would be this soon." Mom goes to refuse but dad links someone and we get rushed out of the room. Flashback Ends I jump. That's more than I've remembered before from the night my father was killed. "Athena, what was that? I don't remember that?" "It's not for me to say Aurora. Soon you'll see everything clearly." She answers me then retreats to the back of my mind to rest. I roll my eyes and get out of the shower and dry myself off. I get dressed and head to the kitchen to get my breakfast and some coffee before heading out to the garden to start my work for the day. Maybe I will get lucky and meet my mate. Only the Goddess knows though. I finish my breakfast (scrambled eggs, hash browns, toast, sausage and lots of bacon) then head out to the garden. Today I was going to be working on the roses, my moms favorite part of the garden. Working in this part of the garden always makes me feel close to her, any part of the garden really. The garden consists of roses, and many, many herbs that she taught me to use in potions so I make sure to take excellent care of the garden, but especially the roses. My mom hid her potion and spell books right before the men showed up here and killed her, it was like she already knew they had found us and it was only a matter of time until they would show up. I'm glad she hid them, I learned a lot from them and if I do find my mate and am lucky enough that he accepts me then I will pass these books on to my children and help them learn about their wonderful grandmother, and if I can remember more about my father then I will also make sure they learn about their wonderful grandfather who saved their moms life as well. But that's only if my mate does accept me. If not then I will just place an enchantment on the books so that only someone truly worthy of them will be able to find them after I'm gone. 'Athena, do you think our mate will accept us? Even though we are part witch?' 'The Goddess would not pair us with someone who won't accept us Aurora. I know she wouldn't hurt us like that after all that we have been through. Losing father at such a young age and then mother only a few years later was hard enough on us. She will pair us with someone perfect who will accept us, I just know it.' 'I hope you're right Athena...' I sigh, it's getting hotter, spring is almost over and it's turning into summer fast. I get up and stretch then go to get a glass of water and sit down in the old rocking chair on the porch. I start to think back about my mom and dad, I want to remember more about when I was younger, I want to be able to remember more about my dad. I know he loved me and mom or he would never have sacrificed himself to save us, so maybe not all wolves are prejudice against witches. Maybe Athena is right, 'Damn right I'm right' Athena huffs. I just roll my eyes and smile. I think I'm done in the garden for today, I just want to lay down and try to remember more so I head into the house to get cleaned up from the garden and go lay down for a bit. Aurora's Dreams I wake up in a beautiful meadow surrounded by a luscious forest. 'Huh, I don't think I have ever been here before. Maybe this is another memory? Athena?' She doesn't respond so I get up and start wandering around and come across a little pond under a silvery willow tree. I hear a twig snap nearby and spin around and almost faint. My father is standing on the other side of the pond with my mom. I tear up, "Daddy? Mommy? Is that really you?" "Aurora, I am so proud of the woman you are becoming, I wish I could still be with you and that I didn't leave you at such a young age. People are cruel and have hate for things they do not understand. And some people just crave power and control. Be wary of people who are interested in you only for your power princess. Remember me and your mother love you and we are always with you even if you don't see us." My father smiles at me and I see the pride shining in his eyes, I look over at my mom and she smiles at me as well, "sweetheart I know we left you too soon but you have grown so much and I know you will do amazing things with your life. The Goddess has allowed us to come visit you in your dreams, I love you so much Aurora. Trust your mate when you meet him. He is a good man. But as your father said, be wary of others who only want you for your power. You are very special Aurora. You and Athena have a very powerful bond that not many humans share with their wolves, and you have the power of a witch as well. You will be a very powerful force when you are fully trained. After you meet your mate we will visit you again. There are people you must meet and ask for help with your training. Be strong sweetheart, we will see you soon" End of Dream I bolt upright in my bed. It's dark outside now, I must have been asleep for a few hours. I realize my face is wet, I must have been crying. 'Athena, was that really mom and dad?' 'Yes Aurora, the Goddess allowed them to visit us. We must be meeting mate soon.' She yawns and curls back up in my mind. I lay back in bed and look at the ceiling, my mind wandering and thinking about what just happened. I'm so happy I got to see my parents again, even if it's only in my dreams, they look so happy and I am so glad they get to be together again through eternity. I wonder when I will meet my mate though, Athena says soon, hopefully he likes me...
