Travis POV
“Would you go on a date with me? Tonight?” I asked, hoping she would say yes. She stood there and stared at me with a surprised look on her face. She stood there completely silent, making me anxious.
“Yes, I would love to” she finally said after a few minutes. I let out a breath that I didn’t realize I was holding.
“Great!” I said. I’ll pick you up around 8.” I gave her a kiss on the cheek before she opened her door and walked inside.
“See you tonight Travis” she said with a grin. With that, she shut the door behind her.
As I was walking down the hall to my apartment, I couldn’t stop smiling. Now I just need to decide where to take her. It needs to be special. I got into my apartment and immediately did some research on what we could do tonight. After about an hour I finally decided. I looked at my phone to see what time it was. Two in the afternoon. What would I do before I need get ready for our date? I ended up watching a movie on Netflix. I glanced at my phone. Ugh, I still had a few hours left. I laid back on my couch thinking about Kenzie. I eventually dozed off and woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I looked at the screen. “Cory, what’s up?”
“Hey man. What are your plans for tonight?” he asked.
I paused for a few seconds before answering, “I’ve got a date tonight.”
“Oh really? With whom?” Cory asked with a hint of surprise in his voice.
“Kenzie” I replied sighing.
“Kenzie? That’s awesome dude. Ok, well I will call Bristol and see if she wants to do something. Later Travis.”
I hung up the phone and saw that it was 7. Time to get ready. I jumped in the shower and then went to my closet to find some clothes. I heard the ping of a text message from my phone. I grabbed it and saw that the message was from Kenzie.
Hey. I forgot to ask you what I should wear tonight.
Wear something comfortable. I replied. I set my phone down and pulled on a pair of jeans and black tee. Ping! Another text.
Ok. I will see you soon!
I gelled my hair and started to make my way to the front door. I grabbed my keys from the table and walked out the door, shutting it closed behind me and locking it. My heart started to race with every step as I made my way down the hall to Kenzie’s apartment. Why am I so nervous? When I got to her door, I took a deep breath and knocked. A minute later, she opened it and there she stood biting her lower lip. She wore a dark blue sundress with a pair of sneakers. Her hair was cascading down over her shoulders. This is the first time I have seen her with her hair down. She looked perfect.
I cleared my throat before speaking. “Kenzie, you look gorgeous.”
“Thank you. You look pretty great yourself” she said, blushing.
“Are you ready to go?” I asked. She nodded.
We walked silently toward the elevator. Once we were inside, she reached for my hand. I smiled down at our hands seeing our fingers intertwined. Tonight is going to be perfect.
