Chapter 1
"Abby!" James called out his wife's name as he rushed into his house. He was looking very agitated and panicked right now. The young woman was busy cooking dinner in the kitchen when he came in. "Abby, where are the kids?" James asked as he entered the kitchen, almost frightening Abby.
"What's going on?" she turned around and asked, a look of confusion plastered onto her face.
"It's Cornelius, where are the kids?!" he asked again in a yell, moving around the house in haste. Heading her husband to call that name, Abby asked no more questions but instead dashed into her son's room.
"Xander, Xavier wake up, we have to go!" she said as she began to pack the children's clothes into their luggage box.
Little Xavier wakes up, stretching like a cat. He asks while scratching his eyes. "Mom, what's going on?"
Abby went over to him and kneels before him, his brother Xander was also awake now. She placed her hands on their faces tenderly, looking into their eyes. "My boys everything is going to be okay alright, just let us go–"
"Abby!" the sudden yell from James cut her off. She stood up and made to leave.
"Mom, what's going on?" Xander asked with tears now streaming down his face.
In a whisper, Abby replied "Be brave!" and she left the kid's room.
"What's your brother up to?" she asked immediately as she entered the living room.
"Why don't you find out yourself?" a voice which Abby knew was not her husband's. She looked up to see Cornelius himself, James' brother. He was present with some rough looking men who wielded dangerous weapons. Her eyes immediately scanned around for her dear husband, and she saw him kneeling with his face slightly bruised.
"James!" she cried and dashed towards him, kneeling by his side. "What is the meaning of this, Cornelius?" she asked her brother-in-law with a dreadful scowl. But the latter just began to laugh maniacally.
"What's the meaning of this?" he asked back. "Well, I'll tell you, you're about to get killed by me" he blurted with an emotionless grin. Abby couldn't help but widen her eyes absent-mindedly. He burst into another round of maniacal laughter.
"Why are you doing this Cornelius?" James asked his brother weakly. But instead, Cornelius hit the bottom of his boot on his head. Abby immediately held on to her husband to care for him.
"You don't get to ask that question, Brother."
"Cornelius stop!!!" springing to her feet, Abby yelled at Cornelius.
"Abby", James called softly, weakly holding his wife's hand, but Abby was all but listening at the moment. She glared horridly at Cornelius, who just chuckled slightly and walked back.
"You know, because of this you will die FIRST!" Cornelius yelled loudly before dashing towards Abby in a flash, digging his shaped claws into her abdomen. A sharp gasp escaped Abby's lips.
"No!!! " James shouted at the top of his voice as he watched crimson blood drip from his wife's abdomen and blood spurt out of her mouth. Cornelius withdrew his hand, causing Abby to drop, now obviously lifeless.
"Abby no" James crawled towards Abby's lifeless body whilst tears flowed down his face, a load of sorrow hammering upon him. Cornelius just stared at him with a wicked grin, displaying his pointy set of teeth arranged in his mouth. Facial hair had already grown on his face, indicating he had transformed halfway into his wolf form.
"She would have been better off with me," he said casually. James remained silent but he was boiling within. His eyes slowly transformed into a fiery red colour and facial hair began to grow on his face.
ROAR!
He suddenly roared angrily and lunged towards Cornelius with his equally pointy set of teeth glinting from the light. As he clawed at him, one of the other men jumped on him. His heavy weight brought James back to the ground.
But James still fought and tried to get up. That was when the man unearthed a blue glowing substance from his pants pocket.
It is a wolf bane!
That inevitably weakens James. It felt as though a thousand boulders had been placed upon him, causing him to fall weakly to the ground.
"You want to avenge her, uhn?" Cornelius said as he laughed mockingly at his brother.
Just along the corridor, the door to the children's room was opened slightly and Xavier was seen peeping through. He had just witnessed how his mother got killed by this maniac.
With a sharp frown, he dashed back into his room and went to his twin brother. "We have to go Xander," he told his brother.
"But why, what's all that noise about?" his brother asked with a confused look. He was confused about everything. First his mother came telling them everything would be okay and now here was his twin brother, telling him they had to go. Where exactly?
"Xander we don't have time, let's go" Xavier replied and pulled his brother along as they both climbed through the window and leaped out of the room.
Xander had no choice than to follow. This didn't look like a time to argue with his twin.
Back at where Cornelius was doing his madness, James was still pinned to the ground. "It's your turn brother," said Cornelius. "But I won't kill you with my claws", he said, and removed a silver gun from the holster on his side and pointed it at James.
"Remember this? That's the right silver bullet" he grinned widely and c****d his gun at James. "Goodbye brother" was the final word he said before pulling the trigger. A loud echo of the gunshot reverberated through the walls of the house, sipping out to the streets and the woods behind where Xander and Xavier were running.
They both gasped in awe as they paused and looked back at their house, which was now a few miles back. Despair and horror filled their gazes.
As the gunshot echoes through the night, Xander and Xavier freeze in their tracks, their hearts pounding with fear and uncertainty. They exchange a tense glance, realizing that their peaceful life has been shattered forever. Without a word, they continue running, their minds racing with questions and dread. Little do they know, their journey is just beginning, and the se
The crets of their past are about to unravel in ways they never imagined.
