CHAPTER 1
I wake from a sharp, stinging pain in my shoulder, ribs and arm, slowly sitting up from the hard basement floor, examining the bruises and cuts the from last nights beating. I stumble to my bathroom staring at my self in the mirror, my dirty blond hair was always knotted and sometimes would show dried blood from a smashed beer bottle or beetroot can, my pale skin hold bruise overlapping bruises, my twig like body barely holding my self up, my dull, green eyes hold so much hurt and pain.
"MARIA YOU STUPID b***h, GET HERE NOW!!!" spat my father. Pulling my oversized hoodie over my head I ran as fast as I could up the stairs ignoring the agonising pain in my ribs. Rushing into the kitchen, colliding with a flabby chest, I fall to the ground and cry out in pain as I'm yanked to my feet by my hair.
"Leave now, I don't want anyone getting suspicious, not like anyone cares about you," he cackle e, "don't snitch or you know ill hurt you so bad you, will wish you were dead." he warned pushing me out the door.
Its a 10 minute walk to Lake City High from my house, reaching the front steps I wince as 2 tanned arms rap around my bruised ribs from behind, peeking over my shoulder I spot Mia, my only friend. "Maria, how are you, omg I missed you plenty." she giggled, she's the only one that has made me smile in 11 years.
Making our way to our lockers, I'm starting to become wheezy and a little light headed, closing my eyes to regain whatever strength I have left to make it to class, but I accidently bump into someone, a strong, ripped someone, stumbling back tripping on my own ankle I brace my self for my weak body to collide with the cold, school floor instead I feel a pair of warm arms wrap around my body and lightly presses into my side with is fingers to grip me so I don't fall but yelped from the pain caused by his touch on my fresh cut making me jump close to his chest. " Hey? You alright?" his deep voice sent a tingle down my spin, raising my gaze to his mesmerising eyes that seemed to flicker from a soft baby blue to a deep green. I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out, his eyes flicked from my mouth then back to my eyes, just his simple touch made it feel like all my worries, all my pain melted away. His voice snapped me out of my trance, "MATE."
"W-what?" I was speechless
