Chapter 2.

1515 Words
They made me a slave, and an omega. I might have alpha blood running through my viens, but I'll only ever be an omega slave now. I'm not legally a slave by pack law, but it doesn't matter. I make my way downstairs, and outside to where my aunt, uncle, and Andrea are waiting for me. I'm dreading going to the park, but at least I'm getting fresh air I remind myself as I get inot the car with my rotten family. We drive to Century Park. There is already a fancy picnic set up for the Alpha, Sev, and their precious daughter. I'm only here to serve them. There's a white tent set up on the hill overlooking the massive water fountain. We make our way up the small grassy hill and to the tent. My family takes their places while I grab the mimosas that have been prepared. Before their ridiculous breakfast can start, my uncle is already starting off the morning with a gift. Andrea always gets showered with the most expensive gifts for her birthday. I'll be lucky if I get a damn cupcake. As I serve the drinks, Andrea opens the dark blue velvet box. Inside is a simple golden chain bracelet with a wolf howling. It's my mother's bracelet. The one that I thought was in tucked away in my room. How did they stea it? How did I not notice it was missing?.in fairness I had it hid in the floorboards with the picture of my parents. I kept the two items in a black box "Hey, that's mine!" I shout as I'go to snatch the bracelet. Before I,ean even get close my uncle grabs my hand in his firm grasp. I yelp from the force of his grip. "Do not interfere with Alpha affairs, slave. Don't forget you are a slave, Anna. Whatever Alpha blood in your veins is wasted because you are wolfless. This bracelet belongs to a real werewolf, not some pathetic excuse for one." My uncle's voice is cold, his eyes void of empathy. I know what happens next. A hard smack across my face echoes in the park. It's not long before my uncle is punching me. Yes, out in the open. No one is foolish enough to interfere in the Alpha's affairs. I'm the only one brave enough to try, but without my wolf I'm powerless. The darkness comes like it always does when my uncle decides to show his power on me. He likes to beat me to remind me of my place, except I'll never fully learn my place. Call it stubbornness, stupidity, or the alpha blood in my veins. Either way, I'll never fully bow down. I think my family knows this, which is why they resort to such poor treatment in attempts to convince me otherwise. As always I embrace the darkness knowing I'll feel like s**t when I wake up. Darkness falls around me as I give into what will be my only rest for a few days. As I predicted, I feel like crapy as I find myself back in my bed. One of the omega males must have brought me back. Tonight is a lavish party for Andrea's birthday. As if I summoned her, Andrea barges into my room. Her golden blonde hair is already up in some crazy, faney updo. She's in her pink satin robe. "There you are, you lazy b***h. I know you can't keep it together as evidence of your passing out this morning, but you need to move. I need assistance getting ready. Daddy is having all the neighboring Alphas and Beta tonight at my party. Even the lycan king is coming, so you better get your lazy ass moving and help me get ready." Andrea scolds. My body is sore. Thankfully, most of the bruising has faded. I still have my werewolf healing to some extent. I might not have many visible bruises, but I still, feel it internally. I drag my body out of bed and go to Andrea's room. I help her dress in her soft pink cocktail dress before I do her makeup. Somehow, I've become Andrea's personal makeup artist. It took me foreverto get good at it too. I'd pay handsomely every time I f****d Andrea's makeup. I had no choice but to get good at it. She will do her day to day makeap, but anytime she has a bigevent i'm expected to do il. There are a lot of things I've had to-get good at as a personal slave. Sewing would be another thing I've had to master in order to please my rotten family. My aunt barges into Andrea's room to give her approval. Andrea always needs her mom to approve of her look for big events. My aunt looks her up and down before she smiles. "You look lovely, sweety." She compliments before she turns her sights on me. "Why are you still here? There is work to be done, and make sure you cover up the rest of your bruises until you heal. It's embracing you can't heal quickly like a real werewolf. You might as well be a pathetic human. The moon goddess wasted a gift of a wolf on you." My aunt scolds. Maybe death is better than this I briefly think before scurrying off to figure out what else must be done for this terrible party. I should be attending the party, not setting up for it. It's my eighteenth birthday, which means I could find my mate. Although, I'm not sure I'd find my mate or know who he was. I don't have a wolf and it's our wolves who scent our mates. Still, eighteen is supposed to be a big deal. Especially for a daughter of an Alpha. I wish my parents were here. I wish this wasn't my life, but the sad truth it is. It's why sometimes I think about death being better, but killing myself means giving up. I'm not sure I'm fully ready to do that just yet, but if things get any worse, I might consider it. The dreaded party arrives. I'm back and forth between the kitchens and the party. I'm bussing tables, serving food and drinks, cleaning up messes, and other annoying things. The party is lively. feels like no one even knows I'm here. Eventually, I get a break and I stand in dim corner sipping some champagne. I know my uncle will beat my ass, but like I said I won't bow-down so easily. Then there's the possibility I have a death wish. I'm watching Andrea dance on the floor with her snooty friends. Andrea suddenly stops dancing as she sniffs the air. My heart drops. I've seen other she wolves sniff the air like that before. They always do it when they sniff their mate. It's the way they scrunch their nose unsure if they truly scent their mate. Andrea sniffs the air a few more times before an Alpha from one of the neighboring packs barges through the crowd and stops right before Andrea before saying the dreaded words 'Mate'. "Alpha Steven, you're my mate!" Andrea happily exclaims as jumps a little like a school girl. "I am. I'm happy to have such a beautiful alpha female such as yourself as my mate." Alpha Steven responds before he romantically picks Andrea up and spins her in the air before kissing her. This can't be happening. My world is frozen. How does Andrea get everything? I don't mean to be a jealous monster, but she's a nasty person yet she has everything. Her parents are alive, she has an education, she's got nice clothes, friends, and now she has her mate who is an Alpha, I know her finding her mate means she will most likely leave our pack and live with her mate, which should be a good thing for me. Yet somehow it fills me with more dread. I decide to chug the rest of my champagne. I debate about swiping a bottle and taking it back to my room. I decide it's best not to. I can't leave the event. I have to stay because I'll be needed to help With food. The main course hasn't even been served yet. One thing about werewolves is we have long parties that can last for several hours. This horrible birthday is maybe halfway over if I'm lucky. Deciding it's best to gain some fresh air, I attempt to make my way out of the room. I can see my aunt iS looking for me, and I'm not ready to face her. I've already seen her and my uncle smiling like fat cats who just got fresh warm milk. They know with Andrea mated to another Alpha gives them an alliance by mateship. Alpha Steven has well established pack that's fairly wealthy. They hit the jackpot with Andrea's mate and the whole pack knows it. That's why Andrea's birthday party has become even more lively. The Alpha's daughter found her mate. It's a big deal.
