"Ok..ok..." I said softly as I scrutinised every single thing I was wearing, "these earrings don't capture my attention the way that they should," I complained to myself as I walked back to my dresser and took off the diamond earrings that my father had gifted me on a rather forced father and daughter occasion, though I would say I quite enjoyed myself that day.
Taking them off, I replaced them with pearl earrings paired with a pearl necklace. I felt a small smile grow on my face as I made my way to the full length mirror that was in my bedroom, eager to see my entire outfit. I was sure that I looked absolutely perfect right at this moment.
I looked into the mirror and my eyes widened a bit at the reflection that was looking right back at me. I’d hate to brag, but I looked beautiful. That was it. I was never one to be insecure because I’ve always been comfortable in my own skin and I was always happy with the way I looked. I’ve got what I’ve got and nothing could be done to change that.
My doe shaped average brown eyes which were surrounded by short eyelashes. A button nose and plump lips that could take the exact shape and form of my mother's pout. High cheekbones which were perfect for highlight and contour. A well shaped jawline that most girls prayed for and lastly I had bangs that covered most of my forehead, leaving enough room to see my ever perfectly shaped and tinted eyebrows.
I knew that I didn’t look like either of my parents, well none of their features immediately stuck out when I looked at myself, but sometimes I could see a little bit of a mix between the two when I looked at myself. I would say it was quite an exquisite mix of the two. My facial features were from my mom, but my facial structure was definitely from my dad.
I looked into the mirror one last time before deciding I looked perfect for whatever the night brought along. The dress I wore stuck to my figure like a second skin. It was quite a showcase because the entire dress was bedazzled with crystals and diamonds. I would surely stick out like a sore thumb with my extravagance.
The dress was long sleeved with a plunging neckline that stopped just below my breasts, so it gave off an elegant look instead of a raunchy look. It nipped in at my waist with a thin belt that was the same material as the dress and flowed out with my figure until it reached the ground. The peachy-pink color did wonders for my skin tone. Most light colours did.
The sound of the doorbell was what snapped me out of my thoughts. I made sure everything was in place before making my way downstairs to see what was at the door. It was either Arthur or Janice. She said she would be coming over to "help me out" with my outfit, as if I’d actually need it, but her intentions were still quite appreciated.
I didn't want to waste any time, so I opened the door and when I did I was greeted with a much appreciated sight. Mr Charlesworth in the flesh, dressed in a slim navy blue suit that hugged his muscular form in the most delicious way possible. I had to stop myself from drooling right there and then. His suit was paired up with a black skinny tie and a crisp white shirt underneath. I would’ve asked him to take me right there if I had no shame.
"Wow..." I breathed out as my eyes traveled up his form, looking up just as his eyes met mines. Guess he decided to check me out as well.
"You look...unreal..." He breathed out as he took a step closer to me. His eyes looked at me like I was something that should be placed in a museum. Like I was a part those expensive pieces of art I always gawk at when I fly to Rome. He looked at me the same way that my father looks at my mother whenever she walked down the grand staircase in our mansion. He looked at me the same my brother looked at his wife on their wedding day when she was walking down the aisle. He looked at me with an intensity that I couldn't stand, with an emotion that I couldn't quite explain, but an emotion that made me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. At that moment it felt like we were the only two people in the world.
"Thank you..." I whispered shyly as I tucked my hair behind my ear, "you look just as amazing," I said to him honestly as my eyes trailed away from his and to my feet. Unable to keep the smile off my face, I gathered my hands together as my heart raced a pattern against my rib cage. From my nervousness, it felt like I was going out on my first date.
I felt him place a finger underneath my chin and delicately bring my face up so that I could look into his eyes. The smile that lit up his face was nothing short of perfection. It felt like I was blown away by the breathtaking view. This rare smile of his very much suited him. If it were up to me I’d keep a smile on his face all day.
"I really...don't think you know how beautiful you are, Diamond..." He whispered as he got closer to me until I could smell his cologne that was imprinted in my memory. He pulled closer to me until I could feel his body warmth seeping through his suit, "you're the most beautiful woman I've ever set my eyes upon," he said as his smile got smaller and he leaned in, planting a small kiss on my cheek.
I looked at him through my eyelashes, "let's get going, I would like to dance the night away," I giggled as I stepped back from him, feeling overwhelmed with how I was feeling at the moment.
He nodded and extended his hand for me to take, "let's get this night started with," he said as I looped my arm through his.
“The moon never stays for too long."
