“Ugghh! Remind me why I agreed to come to this charity gala?” Blaze grumbled in annoyance, and Caine chuckled.
“Because you didn’t have a choice, Big bro,” Aiden chimed in when he noticed Dominic’s angry face.
“What happened to you, Dom?” Blaze asked, then gestured for them to follow him and headed towards a secluded corner.
“What’s the matter, Big Brother?” Aiden asked in a worried tone.
“I saw Seraphina’s father in this charity gala,” He answered, and Blaze looked at his face like he didn’t get the point.
“And? Is it weird for him to attend a gala like this? I didn’t get your point,” Aiden asked again.
“Yes!!! He was talking to Masimo about selling… selling his daughter to him for some quick money,” He answered in a seething tone, and all of them took a moment to register his words.
“You mean he is selling his own daughter even though she is earning millions for them already,” Blaze asked, and Dominic gave him a curt nod.
“What the f*ck! How can he do this? What should we do now?” Aiden asked and balled his fists in anger.
“We can’t let that happen. She belongs to us and us alone… No one has the right to even lay a finger on her,” Caine added, and Dominic took a deep breath before looking at Caine’s face.
“What should we do now? We can’t start a fight at this gala… too many witnesses. We can’t stop them by telling them that we overheard their conversation. Masimo is the twisted and meanest f*cking guy on this earth. He will raise hell if he doesn’t get what he wants,” Blaze added while looking at his champagne glass as he was in deep thought.
“Roberto is going to sell his daughter, but what if we offered him more money than Massimo? Do you think he will be able to back out of his words in front of Massimo? It will be a fair trade. Besides, they didn’t sign anything or accept the payment, which means… There is still a chance for us,” Caine answered, and their heads whipped towards him like he solved the most complicated puzzle of their lives.
No wonder he was the strategist and planner of their group. His mind was really a devil’s workshop, but they decided to praise him for his quick intelligence later because, firstly, they had to deal with Seraphina’s greedy a*shole father. Dominic decided to talk to him about this. He approached him with unhurried steps.
“What’s up, Roberto? How is everything going?” Dominic asked, and his face lit up. He was a sucker for wealthy and powerful people, so he already knew about the famous Quadruplet Romano brothers and their billion-dollar empire.
“Everything is going well. I am getting a bit of resistance in business, but other than that… no problem at all,” He said while letting out a fake a*s laugh, and Dominic snorted after hearing his answer.
“Well! We are going to attend an auction to find a suitable temporary wife for us to avoid our mother’s arranged marriage,” He answered in response, and Roberto’s eyes widened like he just won a lottery.
“Wow! That’s… that’s good.” He stuttered with happiness.
“But I am worried about their greedy nature? You know how hard it is to handle a billion-dollar empire and keep all the gold-diggers *tches at arm's length, right?” He agreed quickly.
“If you don’t mind, then I have a proposal. It is not intentional or anything like that, but it will solve your problem in a better way,” Roberto said and rubbed his hand like he was getting nervous in Dominic’s presence.
"Sure, sure! What is it? I am always in for the lucrative business offers," Dominic gave him a cue, which he happily caught without any suspicion.
"Umm... My daughter, Seraphina D'Angelo, is a very capable girl and is really making me proud of her progress so far, but... there is a problem with her," His tone turned low, like he was very unhappy or sad about something.
"But what, Roberto?" Dominic started getting impatient with him.
"But she didn't get her wolf on her 18th birthday. We waited for her 21st birthday too, but she is still wolfless. We have to find her a suitable person for her marriage before she turns 22; otherwise, she will lose all the property that her grandmother left for her," He explained, and Dominic acted clueless after hearing his sob story.
"I really feel bad for you and your daughter. What can we do to help you in this situation, Roberto?" Dominic feigned concern, and he took a deep breath like he was becoming hopeless with everything.
"I don't want to cage her forever or in any kind of unpleasant situation, so I decided that contract marriage would be the best option for her in this situation. But... But no one capable is ready to accept a wolfless girl like her... She is going to be 22 in just a few weeks," He finally came to the point, and Caine fought himself to keep his snarl in control. Roberto was portraying an image of a sad and helpless father, but in reality, he was far from that.
"Contract marriage? Is she ready for this? I mean, she will have many concerns about her future groom, right?" Dominic asked, and he gulped hard before answering his question.
"Nope! Actually, she is ready for this temporary arrangement, which can give her permanent freedom." He answered, but before Dominic could give him an offer, Massimo came behind them.
"Roberto! I was waiting for you, and you are here. You know we have to close the deal before tonight because I have to catch a flight to attend tomorrow's business seminar." His words made Dominic pause. Aiden mind-linked with him.
"What the heck! They have already agreed to sign a business deal about Seraphina's marriage. F*ck! Are we late? I don't want to lose her at any cost, brother," Dominic's grip tightened around his champagne glass.
"Don't worry! She belongs to us and us alone," Dominic answered, but he couldn't calm his inner panic down after hearing Massimo's words.
