(Seraphina POV)
“Okay! I will be there at five in the evening,” Seraphina put the phone down and looked at several files on her laptop. A ton of files were still present, and she looked at her watch, where it was already midnight. She rubbed her temples and slowly pressed the heels of her hands to her eyes for a few minutes.
“Just a few more minutes, Seraphina. We are doing this for our better future,” She said to herself, but her head started spinning with sleep and fatigue.
“Not now… F*ck!!!” She got up to make another cup of coffee for herself when she noticed the bright light coming from her father’s office.
“What the hell is he doing at this hour of the night?” She asked herself, and her sixth sense told her that something was wrong. She walked towards his office without even closing her laptop. Usually, no one cared about her presence in the house, so she slowly learned to deal with her problems on her own.
“What the heck? Is it real or am I dreaming?” She heard her mother squeal as she had won the lottery.
“Keep your voice down, you silly woman. We have to keep all this a secret and then… we will be rich… supre f*cking rich. And all the rich people who sneered at us and looked down on us at every party will be forced to treat us equal to or above them,” His voice turned serious and angry. Seraphina was about to roll her eyes at their silly schemes when their next words caught her off guard.
“We didn’t know that the old woman was worth this much. F*ck! I will be so happy when they turn her into a lab rat. I wasted so many years raising her wh*re of a daughter into a beautiful she-wolf, but that damn bast*rd turned out to be a wolfless mutt.” Raina’s angry tone made her heart race in fear.
“What the heck are they talking about, Julie? There is only one wolfless daughter in this house, and that is me… but why is Raina calling another woman my mother?” She asked her wolf, who let out a painful whimper in response.
“I thought we would earn some quick bucks by auctioning a hybrid, but alas! No one is interested in that wolfless girl now. F*ckiing glad that her mother is still alive and still worth millions,” Raina’s words were like silver daggers piercing her heart.
“Of course! Evangeline Snowhart has the purest Incubus blood on this planet. She was the only daughter of the last Succubus Queen and Incubus King.” There was something different in her father’s tone, like he was proud of her.
“Good! And now she will suffer to save her daughter… how pitiful!” Raina cackled hard when Seraphina burst open the door of the study room. Neither of them was ready for this. She looked at their happy faces and then at the bottle of expensive wine, which they were enjoying while talking about her misery.
“Who is Evangeline, Father?” She asked in an angry tone.
“I-i… who the hell gave you permission to question me like this in the middle of the night?” He tried to sound angry, but she didn’t budge. She wasn’t the same little girl anymore who used to cover after hearing his angry tone.
“I asked you a question first, Father. Answer me,” Her calm tone made him calm down a bit.
“Get the hell out of here, Seraphina! Or I will punish you for disrespecting your parents,” Raina snarled in anger.
“Parents? Are you sure you are my parents?” She asked, and Raina’s eyes widened in shock when she finally realized that Seraphina heard more than enough of their conversation.
“What d-do you mean by that, Sera?” Raina asked again, but one cold look from her was enough to tell them that she wasn’t a fool.
“Okay, fine! I know you have heard everything, so there is no point hiding it from you… Anymore,” She inhaled a sharp breath after hearing his father’s words.
“You are not Raina’s daughter. You are mine and Evangeline’s daughter.” Roberto answered in a dismissive tone, like it didn’t matter to him anymore, but this truth… this truth was enough to shake her to the core. She looked at Raina’s face, who was checking her nails as if they were the most interesting thing on the face of the earth.
“And where is my real mother?” She asked after gulping the ball of tears stuck in her throat.
“She is away and will never meet you. So, get the f*ck out of this room… NOW!!!” Raina used her authoritative tone on her, but it didn't budge her a bit.
“I asked you a question, Dad! Where is my real mother now?” She asked in a determined tone.
“Seraphina! Let adults handle their businesses and mind your own f*cking business… Or I will not think twice before selling you to a research lab too,” His father answered, and she staggered back in shock.
“What?” Her voice was just above a whisper, and Roberto clenched his fists in anger and looked at the wine bottle as if it were the wine’s mistake for his slip-up.
“A research lab? You are planning to sell her off… Are you even human?” She asked through tears, and Raina rolled her eyes after witnessing her emotional response.
“Yes, A research lab because her daughter is a f*cking useless. No one is going to get married to a wolfless mutt like you, so I have to succumb to the last resort… because of YOU!!! You f*cking USELESS!!!” His angry tone echoed in the office, and she looked at his face like a statue.
“Don’t do this to her, Dad. She is my mother… I want to meet her and see her. Please take me to her, Dad. Please save her!!!” She begged, and he shook his head in no.
“Those people work for money only, so we have to pay them double to get her back, and I am not doing it even in a thousand years,” He answered before throwing a file of papers towards her.
“But… If you want to save her, then you have to work for the Romano brothers for 5 years, and I can release her from that hellhole.” He looked at her face with a neutral expression.
“This contract…What is it?” She asked and started reading it. Her eyes widened in shock when she read the first two pages.
“When did you prepare it?” she asked, and at this point, her emotions became numb.
“I was trying to find a good groom for you for a couple of months, Sera. I have already told you,” His irritated tone made her clench her jaw in anger.
“And no one wanted a wolfless b*tch like you, so we have to put it away, but look… it came in handy,” Raina answered in a cheery tone, which rubbed Sera the wrong way, but she stopped herself from saying anything.
“What will I get from this contract?” She asked after putting the file in the center of the wooden table in front of Roberto.
