"Will you be late tonight?" Jude asked, his voice small and hesitating.
"Why do you ask? " Alexander questioned nonchalantly, buttoning up his suit jacket.
"I-I want to have dinner with you," The omega looked up at his mate, his eyes gleaming. His face reminded the alpha of a puppy.
Alexander rolled his eyes. "Maybe, " His reply made Jude beam as he flushed red.
"Great! I'll make your favorite dish," Alexander didn't turn to the omega who was practically bouncing with joy, instead, the alpha walked out of the room without looking back.
Jude hurriedly followed his mate with his bag of files and laptop. "Umm….Be-before you go… uhh…. Can you give me your number? " He stuttered out, nervously.
Alexander's brows furrowed, he looked at omega for a second. Sighing, the alpha extended his hand towards Jude who stared at him dumbfounded. Alexander groaned. "I don't have time to waste," He snapped.
"Oh! Wa-wait a minute, " The smaller stuttered out running back to the room. He came back rushing with his phone in his hand. "Here, " The boy panted.
Alexander took the phone and typed in his number, giving it a call before he gave it back to the omega. He took the bag and walked out without sparing a second glance at his husband.
"Bye! Have a great day!" Jude shouted, waving at his mate with a big smile. Even though the alpha ignored him, it didn't really affect Jude because he was excited about the fact that he got his mate's number.

"You seem happy today, " Matthew raised his brows as Jude helped him with the gardening. The boy was humming and giggling for a few hours.
"I am! " Jude beamed before he realized what he said. "Oh-umm… it's because it's a...umm...beautiful day?" Jude scratched his ear.
"That's clearly not the reason," The old man chuckled. "You had a good moment with your mate today, didn't you? It's good. Newlyweds tend to be more romantic," He said, cutting some rose stems.
Romance? The moment he had with his mate was far from anything romantic. Alexander barely spoke anything to him today but why was he being so happy?
Jude looked down but didn't correct Matthew. He was starving for any kind of affection that a little attention from his mate drove him crazy. It made him feel pathetic.
The gardener noticed the change in the atmosphere. "Hey, are you okay?"
The boy looked up with a wavering smile. "Matthew, are you a beta?"
"Actually, I'm an alpha but it will be hard for anyone to tell that now since I'm old and my scent is becoming weak. I'm not a top-tier alpha like Mr. Ivanov. If I was, that heart disease wouldn't have taken a toll on me as it did." Matthew chuckled.
Jude felt pity for the old alpha. "When did you meet your mate? "
"When I was in high school," He smiled, replying to the omega's question. "I was kind of like a bad boy then," Matthew laughed. "You know, really muscular and all. Everyone was scared of me but she wasn't. Her name is Stella," The old man sighed. "She's still fierce as she was before, "
Jude listened with a small smile. Having a mate is really a wonderful thing…….If you're not a male omega.
The boy felt a burning pain inside his rib cage.
Growing up ignored by everyone, Jude was ecstatic to meet his mate. A person made just for him. Someone who would love him no matter what. Even though that wasn't what he was gifted with, Jude still loved Alexander with all his heart because the alpha was the only person he can claim as his. But is Alexander really his?
"Matthew," Matthew turned to the omega. "What… what would have you done if your mate was a m-male omega? " Jude's voice was barely above a whisper.
The gardener's smile faltered. At that moment, he knew that the boy in front of him wasn't happy as he thought.

"What are you making? " Cheryl asked, leaning on the kitchen counter.
"Shrimp fajitas! I'm cutting vegetables for it. I promised him I will cook his favorite. Oh god, I'm so excited about this! I made this once with Nancy and it was so yummy!" Jude said with a beaming smile.
"Tell me how it went tomorrow, " The maid took her bag.
"Of course! Tell your son I said hi," Jude looked up. "You didn't tell me his name, " He pouted.
"Oops, I forgot. His name's Milo, " Cheryl smiled. "And he told me to tell you thanks for the gift. He's making a thank you letter but it's work in progress." She chuckled.
"That's great! I would love to meet him one day,"
"Sure, I will bring him with me one day when he doesn't have school," Cheryl looked at her phone. "I'll be going then, it's late."
"Bye, see you tomorrow," Jude waved at the girl who smiled before she walked out.

"Why is he late? " The omega asked himself while he paced the front hall. He took out his phone again.
11.38 PM
Jude bit his lip, pondering the idea of calling his mate. He sighed and put the phone away, deciding to wait a little more.
He didn't want to come off as clingy and make the alpha regret giving him his number. He was afraid of disturbing his mate.

Jude picked up his phone again when the clock struck 12.30 AM. He mustered up some courage to call the alpha since he was getting worried.
The omega felt his palm getting sweaty as he held the phone. He stared at Alexander's number for a second, he quickly hit the call button before he changed his mind.
Alexander picked up at the second ring. "What? " The alpha's voice was cold.
"Umm…. Y-you said you'd c-come home… I-I made dinner," Jude stuttered out.
"I'll be late," His mate replied nonchalantly. His voice sharp, with no hint of emotion. It was sure he didn't forget it.
He just didn't care.
Jude's chest tightened. "O-Oh, Did you eat—" The alpha hung up before he could finish the sentence.
The omega looked down. He felt stupid for thinking Alexander will have dinner with him. "I don't know if he ate or not.… "
Jude sat down on the couch, a heavy sigh slipping past his plump lips. If this is how things are going, then he would have no chance with his alpha. He wanted to talk to Alexander, get to know him. And tell the alpha something about himself. That's how a relationship develops, isn't it?
The omega had no idea about relationships. He wasn't taught about it. Nobody told him how to get close to someone.
Everything Jude knew was, there is someone destined to be yours and they'll love you but that turned out to be a lie. And the omega didn't know what to do next but he is trying. He is trying the best he could.
The sound of the door slamming woke up the omega. Jude squinted, looking at the figure in the doorway. Alexander swayed slightly as walked, taking off his tie and throwing it on the floor.
"Alexander, are you okay?" Jude was worried. It was the first time he saw the alpha so messed up.
The smell of alcohol made the boy scrunch up his nose as he got close to the alpha. "You're drunk? " He asked, his hand reaching to hold Alexander steady because the alpha was swaying.
"That's none of your business," The alpha snapped, slapping the smaller hands away. Jude flinched, stepping back for a minute before he gulped and went to help Alexander again.
"I'll help you to the room," He said, gripping his mate's hand.
"I know how to walk to my room, " He slurred but his voice still sounded charming to the omega.
"Just stop touching me!" Jude quickly stepped back and looked down.
He quietly followed the alpha as he walked to the stairs. The omega walked right behind Alexander, worriedly glancing at his mate as he was afraid about the alpha falling.
"D-Did you have dinner? "Jude questioned, his voice hesitant and soft. Alexander didn't reply; instead, he laid down on the bed with a sigh. Jude took off his shoes and put them under the bed. The suit jacket looked uncomfortable.
Jude tried to get the jacket off but the alpha was heavy. Alexander was slipping in and out of consciousness and a glimpse of the omega on top of him made the alpha think of it as something bad. In a quick movement, he pinned Jude under him with his hand tightening around the omega's small neck.
The boy gasped, repeatedly slapping the alpha's hand to free him. "What the f*ck do you think you are doing!? " Alexander screamed, making Jude flinch at the angry alpha voice.
He couldn't talk with the alpha's tight grip on his neck. He couldn't even breathe properly. Tears brimmed his eyes as he gasped for air. Alexander threw the boy off the bed causing him to fall on the floor. Jude laid there in the same position, taking deep breaths and gasps to fill his lungs. He coughed a few times before he looked at his mate, panicked.
"Don't.touch.me." The alpha glared at the trembling omega. Jude couldn't help but shiver at his cold voice. He never thought Alexander would hurt him but now he was terrified of what the alpha could do.
"Get out," Alexander spat out. "I don't what to see you in here,"
Jude got up, biting his lip to stop breaking down in front of his mate. He stumbled towards the door. It seems like his leg got hurt when he fell.
That night the omega slept on the living room couch, sobbing into the pillow.
Alexander hates him.
And he was sure about it.
