Chapter ELEVEN: Finding Out

I tried getting up and pushing off of Slate but he wouldn't let me go. 

  "Minerva stop.  He doesn't mean us harm.  I feel some way connected to his wolf." 

 I continued to struggle when Xavier spoke. "Minerva stop. I have something from your mother that will explain a lot of what is happening." I stopped struggling and just looked at him. I didn't know what to say or do. My mother died having me and 26 years later he claims to have answers. "I know it's been a long time and I know you're trying to gather why I waited. We had an understanding that I would not reveal any of this until you called asking for us to help you. It would be then that I show you the letter and give you the gift to understand better on why your father and her were mates." 

I looked at him. I was speechless. Henry spoke up instead, "Xavier, why would they ask you to hold onto something like this?" 

 "Katherine could see snippets into the future and she knew she would die having Minerva, it was fate. She and Richard came to me because my mate was a demon and she to would come to pass when Slate was born. These two have a destiny and until Minerva reads the letter and opens the gift, it will still just be as confusing." 

 "Xavier, will you give me the letter please?" He smiles sweetly at me, reached into his brief case and handed me my mothers letter. I got up and stepped to my office window. I could feel Alectrona soaking up the sun so I stood there and slowly opened the letter. 

  My Dearest Child, 

I am writing this with tears in my eyes knowing what my fate is.  Please know that no matter what, I will love you and watch over you for as long as I can.  You are a blessing to your father and I and also to the supernatural realm as well. I am not sure if you have found out yet, but I am an angel and your father's fated mate.  We set all differences aside and made the all the necessary decisions to make our bond work for us.  We had several long years together before finally getting pregnant with you and as prophecy would have it, I will not be there to help you through this. 

I have spoke to Xavier about this matter as his fated is a demon and they too are having a child.  She also will not make it through child birth and her child will have a wolf directly from the Goddess of the Moon.  You both will not be mated in such a way of a bond but you both will be bound in a way that you both will conquer what lies ahead and discover what it means to be blessed in such a way.   I have faith the both of you will discover your abilities together and teach each other how to develop them. 

I have given Xavier the book that will lead you to the prophecy, the history, and hopefully the way to your destiny. 

I love you my child with every ounce of my being.

I sat quietly for a moment with tears streaming down my face looking out beyond my territory. My mother knew of this day and my father tried to change this day by making me a Luna instead of an Alpha. He just didn't count on being killed and the course coming to action. 

 I wiped my tears and turned towards the men. Xavier quietly got up with book in his hand and walked to me. Silently he grabbed and hugged me and just held me, almost like he knew I needed it. 

 "Minerva I can help you develop the abilities that has surfaced already. As long as you let me." Slate said quietly. 

 I let go of Xavier and walked to Slate. He reached out for my hands and I gave them to him. At first I felt nothing, then I felt Alectrona start purring and almost reach to touch Slate. 

 "Slate, what is your wolf's name?" I asked. He smiled at me and said, "Ironically, it's Erebus.  What is the name of yours?" 

"Alectrona"

He smiled and Alec spoke to me,  "I feel Erebus, almost as a bond but I have no feel to mate with him.  This must be what mother was talking about. We should take his help and become what we are destined to be." 

 I smiled at Slate and we went to sit down and I taking the book, setting it down on the edge.  Lingering for a moment, I took a deep break and decided to break it to them of why I really asked them to come."I actually asked you here because there was a set of coven leaders from the next town over that came to me asking for help to find their daughter that was kidnapped.  Of course I said yes, but I also believe I know who it is behind it."

They both looked at me expectantly, continuing, "I believe it is Alpha Thomas.  He has made a couple phone calls that the person I have following him when he is here at my pack picked up on that really pushed me to suspecting him."

I watched their eyes cloud over for a moment, when they cleared Slate spoke to me, "We will help you with him.  It would be better for more witnesses than just you and your pack if the council comes to investigate."

"Thank you for agreeing.  I have a plan to get him to slip up and we also need to meet with both of our teams to try and get this child tomorrow while he is here at the ball."

Slate nodded in agreement with questioning, "How are we getting him to slip up?"

"I was thinking about us 'sleeping' together, then making a grand entrance at the ball, and while at the ball, flirt and make it like we are having moments so he gets jealous."

"That can be done for sure, when do you want to meet tonight?"

"Dinner is at 6pm so say 8pm.  I have a safe house outside pack territory close to town that will be perfect so there is no questions on why our teams are moving.  I will send you the pin right now so you can forward it."

I sent him the pin and was working out how we were really going to pull this off.  We didn't even know where the child is.

"Minerva, you're thinking to hard.  Let's retire to our rooms and take a few hours," Xavier stated.

"Yeah sounds good, Henry, please show Xavier to his guest room, I will take Slate to mine."

"Yes Alpha."

We left the office and headed towards my room, I unlocked and walked in with Slate behind me.  I sat down my book beside my bed and faced Slate.  "I really need to go finish preparations for the ball and then go to dinner.  Want to go with me?"

"Sure why not."

We headed down to the ballroom meeting up with Kelly.  She smiled at us and gestured towards doing the table setting.  Of course we complied to what she wanted and within an hour and a half we were finished and heading to dinner.  We were sitting there talking about pack problems when I received a mindlink from pack patrol. "ALPHA WE HAVE BEEN ATTACKED ON THE WEST SIDE."

Henry and I ran from the dining hall.  We shifted into our wolves as soon as we cleared the door heading west.  I felt another wolf near me and seen Erebus running beside me.  When we made it to the attack site, all we saw was blood and body parts scattered around.  I shifted to human form and looked around, Slate doing the same.  "Where is my patrol?"  

"Alpha I found Josh."  was Henry's voice that came through my head.  I shifted and ran towards him.  Upon approach I saw my Delta coughing and sputtering up blood.  

"Minerva what was one of your abilities?" Slate asked.

"Healing but its only been minor cuts nothing to this degree."

"Now I need you to focus on his wounds and think heal.  You have got to try if he is going to survive."

I hesitated and dropped beside Josh.  I looked him over and I felt Alectrona open a gate I have never felt before.  I put a hand on his forehead and one on his chest and thought about healing them.  I watched my hands glow soft yellow and I moved them around his wounds.  I watched them heal and the bleeding stop.

"Henry get him to the pack hospital I will meet you there."

Henry picked up Josh and headed towards the hospital.  Slate and I both shifted looking for the other two patrol guards.  I caught the scent of blood and headed towards it with Slate behind me.  We reached a clearing with both guards laying there not moving.  I shift back and seen it was Tony and Charlie both 18 years old.  I knelt beside them and tried to find pulses, which I couldn't find.  Their necks were snapped.  

Slate and I picked them up and headed to the hospital.  When we arrived we dropped them at the morgue and headed to the packhouse to get clothes.  "Henry I will be back, I have to get clothes."

We got dressed and headed back to see Josh.  When we got in there, he was hooked to a blood transfusion and a monitor.  He turned his head and looked at me.  "Alpha, you healed me, I only needed transfusions."

"That's great Josh.  I am glad you are fine though I need to steal Henry because we have a meeting to attend.  Sherri has been notified and will be here any moment for you.  If anything is needed let me know."

"I will Alpha thank you."

We headed out of the hospital when we crossed paths with someone that should not even be here.
