Chapter TWELVE: Making the Plan

Crossing paths with Thomas kind of irritated me. He wasn't supposed to be here until tomorrow and yet he's right here. I will have to remind myself to tell patrol to inform me when he's here from now on. "How long have you been here Thomas?" I asked him. "Not long I came across Henry with Josh and followed to see if any help was needed," was his answer. Hmm he was here when the attack hit. Interesting. "No help is needed Thomas. I think you should head back so you can get your people for tomorrow that will come to the ball. Thank you though for the offer." "Sounds like you're trying to get rid of me Mjnerva, is that what you're doing?" "No Thomas that's not my intention but I do have a metting at the office in town to attend." "Oh well, I can warm your bed until you're back then. That's if you want me to of course," he said eyeing Slate. "My bed is plenty warm Thomas. Have a good evening and I'll see you tomorrow," I said walking away from him. Slate slipped his arm of my shoulder so I followed lead by wraping mine behinds his back. He reached down to beush a kiss on my cheek and I looked at him and smiled. We were really working this. Or at least I hope we were. We headed into the garage and got into my truck. I knew with recent rain I would need it, plua I like it better than any of my other vehicles. "Watch for tails Slate. We can't risk anyone following us." He nodded his head and was watching our backs. When we finally arrived it was 8:05 and Zech was waiting for me on the porch. "I was wondering when you were going to get here Alpha," he said smirking. "Well we had a run in with our suspect and I had to make sure we were tailed," I responded back. We walked inside and when to the dining room where 11 other men were waiting on us. Apparently Thomas and I have the same taste on stealth teams as both of our men were damn near identical in build, brawn, and clothing style. "Do yall wear anything else other than black? You scream look I'm an assassin," I said to Zech walking in the room. I could hear Slate stifle a laugh behind me. "Well lets cut to the chase. I have a kidnapped witch child that needs to be recovered. Rogues and vampires are working together. We have a suspect but getting him to slip up might be hard. They biggest problem out of all of this, I have no idea where the child is being held," I told them. One of the men pops up, "I can track her down with the software I have available." "If you can that would be great. I know that he stated over a phone call she's at a house with a rogue woman but that's all I know. Well that and he also some how has rogue vampires working with him. " I said uneasily. This was one of my hardest choices I've had to make and it's not my men or Slate's I'm worried about, it's the little girl. Zech pops up, "We got this Minerva, I see you're mind working. We will work together find her and have back to you tomorrow night. Just listen for the call." I nodded my head. I had faith in these men and most if not all had mates and children so they knew what was at stake without questioning me. "It was also heard she is sick which leads me to believe she has been separated to long from her parents. Just be easy and don't scare her to much," I told them. "We'll get it done for you Alpha and take care of her. Like Zech said, listen for the call. Tom will find her with his tech and we'll go in for the kill," one of Slate's men said. I smiled at that and replied, "I do have faith in all of you just keep me posted----" "Found her," came Tom's voice from my right. "How did you find her that fast?" I asked him. "Easy. Tracked Thomas’s movements with hacking into cameras and long story short found the house." I walked to where he was standing and showed me his tablet. "Well at least it's not in a community for the cops to get called on 11 men in black acting like military breaking and entering," I said with a laugh. Tom smiled at me and the men went to planning what was going to happen next. I felt movement beside me and looked at Slate. "Well Minerva, you ready to head to your office? Got to make your story to Thomas believable." I shrugged and headed out with Slate behind me. We drove to my office building where the "meeting" would take place. I parked out front and headed inside. It's been awhile since I've stepped foot in the building. Owning one of the largest construction companies in the Untied States is no easy feat but it basically runs itself and I'm hardly needed unless I have to sign something major or if I have to meet with other CEOs for their projects. "I don't think I've ever been in here." Slate said as we walked up 5 flights of stairs. "You never had to, we did everything over the phone for your packhouse," I said. We made it to my office turning the lights on making it look legit that I'm meeting someone. I looked out the window and could feel that I'm being watched. I stepped away about the time Simon materialized out of nowhere. "What the f**k Simon. Don't freak the person trying to help you," I yelled at him. "I apologize Minerva. I heard you would be here so I wanted to see you without anyone around." "Do you have any news of my daughter?" "Yes I have a team making the plan to get her. We just have to be careful." "Good good. I also can't thank you enough for doing this and welcoming us in your pack," he said quietly. "It's no problem Simon. No-one deserves their child taken from them no matter the circumstances," I said smiling at him. He smiled and said, "You're a great person Minerva, no matter the rumors. I need to get back before I'm missed I'll be released tomorrow sometime don't need to ruin escaping." "You're right about that for sure. I'll have it arranged for you and your family to stay on my Beta floor so you're close to someone I trust," I replied. He nodded his head and materialized out of my office. I looked at Slate and he was deep in thought. "You don't think he's in on this do you?" He asked. "I'm not really sure what to think anymore. But I don't know I'm ready to head back and get in bed. We have a long day tomorrow." He smiled and we shut down everything and headed back to the packhouse. When we arrived, everything was quiet so I parked my truck and we headed inside. As we were going up the stairs, one of my omegas was coming down the hall. She smiled at me and kept walking. When I reached my landing I felt like I was being watched. I turned around and didn't see anyone. Shaking my head I went towards my door next thing I know I'm pinned against it with Slate breathing down my neck. "We're being watched. Lets make this interesting," he breathed against my ear. He kissed on my neck and shoulder wrapping his hands around my waist boosting me up to wrap my legs around him. I let out a moan trying to make this convincing as possible. "Slate let me down so I can open the door," I breathed out to him. He put me down but kept against me kissing the on base of my neck. I got the door open and he threw me over his shoulder smacking my bottom. Walking through he kicked the door shut and sat me down. "Well that was interesting," I said to him locking my door. "Had to make it believable," he said shrugging his shoulders. "So where am I sleeping?" "The floor," I said stifling a laugh. He looked at me like I had two heads. Laughing, "I'm kidding Slate, you'll sleep on the left side of the bed." He glared at me and I disappeared into my bathroom. I showered in hot melting the stress for the moment. Stepping out I wrapped my hair and went to brush my teeth. I looked in the mirror and noticed I was pale. I've never been a pale woman I've always had a tan complexion like my father. I finished up and went the back way into my closet and grabbed some loose shorts and a t-shirt. I stepped out and Slate looked up from his phone. He smiled then his face grew serious. "You should read part of the book tonight so you can be prepared for the change you're going through." "Change? I'm not going to lose Alec am I?" "No, she will be with you always and you will be able to change into her, but your angel abilities are coming in and you will experience feature changes like your complexion already changing." I walked towards my bed and grabbed my book. Slate went to the bathroom to shower leaving me alone. I opened the book and the next thing I'm sitting on a grassy plane.
