Chapter SIX: The Coven

I woke up at 4:30 with my alarm screaming at me.  Sometimes I hate having training but I know it is necessary for my pack so we can stay sharp in case of attack.  I stroll to my bathroom thinking of the new nightmare that I had.  Thomas standing with a knife covered in blood.  My blood.  What did this mean?  I thought Thomas was on my side so why would I start dreaming he is the one behind all of this? 

 I washed my face and brushed my teeth.  Wiping my face off, I stare in the mirror.  Who am I really to be out though so much and now have someone trying to kill me.  Sighing I walked to my closet to get ready for training.  Throwing on a red sports bra and black training pants, I make my way down stairs heading to the training field when I ran into Stephan. 

 "Good morning Alpha, I hope you don't mind my Alpha and I joining you and your warriors for training?" 

"Of course not Beta Stephan come on."

 We make our way to the training field meeting Thomas and Henry on the way. "Good morning sugar. Sleep well?" Thomas asked. 

 "Slept just fine thank you." I kept walking. Thinking why is he still here when he has his own pack? 

 "Henry I need you to assign someone to watch Thomas, at a distance of course." 

 "Yes Alpha. I'll look to it". 

 Arriving at the field, I looked forward to the wolf on wolf training today. With everything going on I haven't let Alectrona out in awhile and I know she's been dying to take a bite out of someone.  As we gather around, my head warrior Xavier makes his way to the center.  "Alright ladies and gents we have a couple of visitors with us today who is joining in training.  Alpha Thomas and his Beta Stephan.  Remember fight how hard you want just no killing anyone."

Heading to my normal training spot Thomas follows me. "What are you even doing Thomas I always train with Henry?"

"We are going to spare, you need some difference in your life."

I started stripping my clothes while Alectrona was starting to get excited. I crouched down and let her shift.  Feeling my bones cracking and shifting is almost a relief to me. "Minerva my dear it feels like forever since I've had my paws on the ground."

"I know Alec, I am sorry for that I know more than anything you need the sun and I have deprived you of it."

"It is okay Minerva, I have the strength to take on Blaze with or without the sun."

"Then go for it, I no longer am trusting Thomas after last night."

"I sure will."

They spared for almost an hour when Alectrona finally took down Blaze.  By that time everyone had gathered to watch the two Alpha's fight.  It was easy to that as the sun rose Alectrona was no longer tiring.  With her being tied to the Goddess of the Sun, she soaks up sun as much as possible to help keep up her energy even though I do feel the strength from the sun as well.  "That might be why you have been so drained my human.  No sun to reenergize you."

"I am going to see the Porter's today so I will take my bike to get more sunlight."

"We just need to be careful how much we talk, there is a chance that the Porter's are being held, bugged, and watched."

I waved off what she said as I shift back to human.  As I'm putting on my clothes, I hear a scream at the packhouse.  I take off rubbing as Alectrona takes over and shifts to get there faster.  

When we got to the packhouse, is when I see what caused the scream.  Mr. Porter is tied to the front gates beaten and bloody.  I shifted back and that's when I see he is tied with silver making it difficult for us werewolves to get him down.  "I have us protect dear get this man down." Alectrona said to me.  I reached up and started loosening the chains hissing at the pain coursing through my hands.  As he fell down, Henry caught him and carried him to the pack hospital.  I mindlinked the doctor at the hospital, "Take care of the warlock that is coming in. No if ands or buts. I want him alive do you understand Dr. Reece?" 

"Yes Alpha."

I run into the packhouse up to my room to put clothes on.  I needed to get to Mrs. Porter as soon as possible.  I threw on a new sports bra, a t-shirt and some jeans and ran out to the garage to get on my bike. I sped through the gates and headed for the coven. When I got near the coven I got surrounded by a group of angry witches.

"I am Alpha Minerva, I need to see Mrs. Porter right now. It is about her husband."

"We will not allow you through, first her child is kidnapped and now her husband, you wolves are all just the same." The oldest one stated.

"She and her husband came to me first and now her husband is laying in my hospital.  You have to let me see her."

"Simon is at your hospital?" another one said.

"Yes dammit. I need to see her now before anything else happens."

Another older witch spoke up, "Come I will take you to her."

I got off my bike and followed her on foot not wanting to become a prisoner of theirs.  We walked 3 blocks to the middle of their coven to a large colonial looking house.  The witch tapped on the door and a young teenager opened the door.

"Scarlett I need to see your mother. Is she here?" asked the witch.

"She is in her study Lady Miranda.  I can take you to her. I must say though she is beyond distraught." Scarlett said with sad eyes.

"That is quite okay with us, we have some news for her."

Scarlett stepped to the side to let us in.  Shutting the door behind us, she then walked us up a set of stairs to the second floor.  As we made our way down the hall I noticed the centuries of pictures of past coven leaders and they all look kind of the same.  All blonde hair blue eyed and the same blank look on their faces.  I knew they had a lot of rules and specific ones at that, but I at least thought the coven leaders would have some kind of freedom.

We got to the end of the hall and Scarlett knocked on the door.  "Mom, Lady Miranda is here and she has a visitor with her.  They say they have news for you."

"Celeste it's Minerva with me, please let us in."  We heard the lock jingle and the door crack.  Miranda opens the door and we step in.

"Minerva what is it?  I can't handle much more."

"Celeste come back with me.  I have your husband in my pack hospital.  He was chained with silver on my front gate.  I got him down and came to you as quickly as I could. Pack you and your daughter and lets go."

"What if they come back and hurt my coven?"

"They are not after the coven, they are after me and my pack can help you and your husband. Please let me just help you."

"I will go for the sake of my husband, but I am still unsure what to do about gathering the covens to go against you."

"Don't worry about that. Just get your things and Scarlett and lets go.  I have a group of men right on the outskirts of your coven to escort us back."

"I will get on it. Scarlett!"

"Yes mother?"

"Pack your things for a week long stay with Alpha Minerva. We are going to see your father."

"Okay mother."

I sat outside their home with Lady Miranda. We spoke about what was happening and even she couldn't fathom why I was being targeted. About 30 minutes later Celeste and Scarlett came out and announced they were ready to go.  

"Come on lets go then. I need you to take me to my bike, I left it at the edge of the coven."

"Climb in."

Celeste took me to my back to my bike and met up with my men.  We left for the drive back to my pack.  Upon arrival, Henry linked me that Simon was out of surgery and in recovery.  We parked our vehicles and I took Celeste and Scarlett to the hospital.

When making it to Simon's room, I left them there with two guards and left my number with her so she could call me instead of asking a guard to mindlink. I headed back to my office to go over what I have going so far when Henry comes up to me and asks, "Aren't we hosting the mating ball on Saturday?"

"Oh my I forgot about that. Lets go to my office we need to plan what we need to do." I told Henry.

When making it to my office, I saw the door cracked.  I opened it slowly only to see Thomas sitting in my chair.

"Well my dear Minerva, how was the trip to the coven?" He asked with a smirk.

--Thomas POV--

When I heard that my help got the plan rolling I was ecstatic.  What I didn't plan on is the warlock to still be alive when Minerva found him, or her ripping silver from him without so much as a sound.  When she left to go to the coven I used that time to scope her office.  I literally found nothing that even pointed towards anything about this and I definitely didn't see the letters I sent her. She obviously suspects something of me but I'm not sure what that quite is yet.

My Beta warned me of her return so I sat in her office and waited because I knew it wouldn't be long before she came up.  I heard her and Henry talking and then she noticed the door. When she opened the door, I smirked at her and asked, "Well my dear Minerva, how was the trip to the coven?"
