“The important thing is that you’re both okay. Look, we do have to decide,” Beto said as Carlos and Eugenio recited what had happened while they were driving home. “I think you know which direction I want to go with this.”
It was true. Carlos had already figured out what Beto’s answer would be. Yet he still wanted to hear it from him. “I do, but why don’t you just say it first.”
“I think we should sell. This is getting out of hand. You could have been hurt or even killed. I don’t think even Mami or Papi would have held onto the land if this were happening to them.”
