CHAPTER 6:
The sun was out in the sky very early in the morning. Sophia got out of bed, hurriedly dressed up and set off to work. The sky was very bright and clear. She watched expensive cars roll in, cleaners doing their work as she walked into the restaurant. Age had already been instructed on what to do the previous day during the interview.
"Hi good morning" she greeted her fellow coworkers.
"Good morning" they all greeted back.
Sophia watched wealthy business men and women, managers, CEOs and the rest walk into the restaurant. She walked from one table to another taking their orders.

Adrian was seated in his office. There was a knock on the door. Benjamin walked in
"Sir it is time for your date with the Walker family."
"Already?"
"Yes sir I will drive you to the venue. Your mom made reservations yesterday"
"Alright then let's go" Adrian said as he stood up.
They arrived at the venue. Adrian walked into the restaurant and looked around. A young lady waved at him. She was sitting at a table at the far end. He walked up to her.
"Hi my name is Marilyn Walker" the lady said extending her hand towards Adrian but he completely ignored that.
"I'm sure I don't need to introduce myself. You already know who I am by now". Adrian said arrogantly.
"Well yes I do but you should still introduce yourself just for the sake of it" Marilyn said.
"Look young lady.............. Marilyn. Am I correct??"
"Yes" Marilyn answered wondering what's up with the attitude.
"I am not here to do this introduction s**t with you today alright. Let's be very quick with this s**t. I need to leave" Adrian said as he rang the order bell on the table calling the attention of a waitress.
A waitress walked up to their table
"You're welcome sir, what would you like to order??"
"Just water" Adrian said without looking at the waitress
"Okay sir, and you ma" the waitress said taking down their orders
"Same" Marilyn said as she was already infuriated by Adrian's attitude.
"No no no no you cannot have water only. I mean you're on a date aren't you?? Don't worry about the bills, I will pay" Adrian said
Marilyn glared at him. She could not stand his behaviour any more but she had to put herself together.
"Yes" said feigning a smile
"Okay please get her the best.........." Adrian paused as he looked up to the waitress. "Found you finally" he said in his thoughts.
The waitress was Sophia Carter. There she was standing before him, Adrian stared at her. His first time seeing her in broad daylight. And she looked very beautiful. He couldn't have a good look at her face the last time probably because it was a rainy night.
"Sir you mean the best meal we have here??" Sophia asked interrupting his thoughts
"Errr....... yes yes yes, the best meal and please be quick about it" Adrian stammered.
"Alright sir. I will be back shortly" Sophia said as she left their table.
Soon she was back with their order. As she placed the meal on the table, Adrian kept staring at her. She felt uncomfortable.
"Why is he staring at me like that. Obviously I have not met him before" Sophia thought to herself.
"Enjoy your meal" Sophia said as she left the table.
"So tell me more about yourself " Marilyn said trying to start a conversation. She found Adrian very attractive.
Adrian scoffed. "Sorry is this an interview or what?
"You know what I am done with this so-called date. I'm trying to be nice and get to know you better but you're just an asshole. f**k you" Marilyn said as she walked away angrily.
"Well, suit yourself" Adrian said smiling mischievously. He rang the order bell on the table.
Sophia walked up to his table.
"Hi it's been a while" Adrian said to her smiling.
"Sorry sir I don't know what you're talking about. Have we met before??" Sophia asked looking confused.
"Oh my, don't tell me you don't remember me"
Sophia found the conversation very weird but she answered "No sir"
"Alright let me refresh your memory a bit. We have met once on a rainy night. You almost got hit by my car while crossing the street."
"Okay you're the guy with the careless driver" Sophia suddenly remembered that night.
She could not have a good look at the man's face that night because she had a lot on her mind and was really down. But looking at the man sitting in front of her now, he looked very handsome and hot, with a nice physique.
"Well my name is Adrian Blackwood, CEO of Blackwood Global Corporation" Adrian paused.
Sophia's face held no expression at all. He normally gets different reaction from people when he introduce himself. Some get excited, others become surprised, while some others start worshipping him but this particular young lady just stood there staring at him expressionless.
"Okay sir"
"So Miss Sophia, I believe you were once working at Morgan and Hayes company, why are you working as a waitress in this restaurant now?"
"Wait what? How did you know my name and how did you know my former place of work?" Sophia asked
"Well I mean I am Adrian Blackwood I can get information on anyone I want to" Adrian said full of pride.
"Actually I find that very rude. So what else did you find out about me? My favourite food? My favourite drink??" Sophia asked filled with anger.
"Well I could have gotten information on that if I wanted to."
"Oh how I hate these rich people" Sophia said as she dropped his bill on the table and walked away in anger.
"Wait come back I need to settle my bills" Adrian said but Sophia ignored him.
Adrian stood up and walked over to the counter to settle his bills. He walked out of the restaurant after that. Benjamin was sitted in the car waiting for him.
Benjamin sited Adrian walking up to the car. He immediately came down and opened the door for him to get in.
Adrian got into the car.
"What kept you so long sir?? Miss Marilyn walked out a long time ago." Benjamin asked
"Do I answer to you now??" Adrian asked
"I'm sorry sir"
Let's head back home. I'm really tired
"Alright sir" Benjamin said as he started the car.

Sophia got home that night. She was very tired. Being a waitress, she was walking around 85% of the time. She barely had time to sit down and rest.
"Hey baby welcome back. So how was your first day at work" Grandma asked giving her a warm hug.
"It was very stressful grandma. My feet's are really sore. I had to walk around in heels the whole day"
"I'm sorry baby. You will soon get used to it. I will give you a nice massage before you go to bed. That should help"
"Oh thank you grandma. You are really the best"
"Come over and have dinner" Grandma said from the dinning area
Just then, Sophia's phone rang. It was her best friend, Emma calling. She walked into her room and picked up.
"Hey Emma"
"Hey Sophia, how was your first day at work?"
"It was very stressful though"
"Sorry baby you will soon get used to it"
"I hope so and some rich psychopath came around to worsen my day" Sophia said angrily
"What happened" Emma asked laughing
"Nothing serious. He just kept bluffing a bunch of rubbish"
"Alright baby just be very careful at work and take good care of yourself"
"Okay bye" Sophia said as she hung up the phone
Sophia quickly freshened up and walked to the dining area .
Daniel walked out of his room to the dining area.
"Hey sis you're back"
"Yes, how was school today?"
"It was fine. I heard grandma asking about your first day at work or something. Do you no longer work at M&H(Morgan and Hayes) company?" Daniel asked it of curiosity
"No I don't but it's nothing to worry about okay? I took care of everything already" Sophia said reassuring him
"Alright sis"
"Alright dinner is served" Grandma said as she walked up to the dining area with a tray filled with different meals and some empty plates for dishing.
They laughed and chatted away while having dinner. That was Sophia's favourite part when she would sit at a table with her loved ones chatting and laughing. "The best feeling in the world" she termed it.

The next day, Adrian was at the office. He just finished having a meeting with the board members. His phone rang. It was his mother calling.
"Hey mom"
"Adrian, what exactly is wrong with you??"
"I don't know what you're talking about ma" Adrian said acting confused
"Tell me why the Walkers contacted me today saying their daughter is no longer interested in dating you?"
"Ooh really they did"
"I'm being very serious here, Adrian. Tell me the truth. Are you gay?"
"What? No mom never"
"Then why are you being like this. Your father and I put in a lot of effort in raising you yet you cannot just do this one thing" Olivia said with a shaky voice.
"Look mom I'll get back to you. Something urgent just came up"
"Hey Adrian listen to me first don't................."
Adrian hung up the phone. He had no interest whatsoever in love or marriage. And now his mom is thinking he is gay because of that. At this point he did not know what to do. Then suddenly, an idea struck his mind
"Sophia Carter" he thought as a smile ran across his face.
Immediately he called Benjamin into his office. Benjamin walked in.
"Yes sir"
Do I have anything else scheduled for today?
"No sir"Benjamin answered.
"I need to go somewhere right now. Don't bother waiting for me. You can head home"
"But sir I can drive you to wherever you are going" Benjamin said
"I said do not worry about that . I can drive myself. Just head home".
"Okay sir." Benjamin left.
Adrian hurried out of the office. He drove over to Empire Foods. He entered the restaurant and looked around searching for Sophia. He saw her at a table attending to some customers. He walked over to her.
"Hey we need to talk" Adrian said dragging her arm
"Well obviously as you can see I am busy at work"
"That's not a problem. Just come with me" Adrian said dragging her away from the customers.
"Wait do you want me to get fired" Sophia said trying to free herself from his grip.
"Don't worry I will make sure you don't get fired" Adrian said as he dragged her to the back of the restaurant.
"So what do you want to talk about? Do you want to tell me how many more information you found out about me?"
"No that's not why I'm here" Adrian said not sure how to put the next set of words coming out of his mouth.
"Then what?" Sophia asked sounding pissed.
"Sophia Carter marry me" Adrian blurted out.
"What? Is this some kind of joke??" Sophia was shocked
"No I'm being very serious right now"
"Truly this man is a psychopath. How can he just ask a stranger to marry him. I mean who does that? First he runs a background check on me now he is here asking me to marry him. He is a total psychopath". Sophia thought to herself.
"Are you sick or did you hit your head somewhere?" Sophia asked not sure about what exactly is going on.
"No, I am sure about what I am doing right now. Marry me Sophia." Adrian said looking more serious than ever.
