The Arab.
He is alone, in front of her.
Her phone falls from her hands to the ground as the elevator screams, stalling and suddenly everything goes dark.
"Oh, my God!!" She screams and forgets that she just ran into the pedantic Arab.
Seconds later, the emergency light stops flashing and comes back on, leaving the elevator dimly lit.
With their hands clasped and their legs half crossed, Amir stops looking at the ground and looks up through his glasses looking straight ahead at her.
"Oh, my God!" She moans again with obvious nervousness.
"Can you shut up?" He whispers arrogantly.
"NO!!" Shouts "You don't understand!"
He denies with the head.
"No I do not understand." He assures "And I don't want to understand either.
Emily snorts in obvious frustration.
"How can you be so calm?" She raises her voice. "We're locked in !!"
"AND?"
"But what is wrong with you?" She sobs.
"Nothing to me, but you do." He whispers.
"But how dare she?"
"I dare because I want to." He tells her without a hint of feeling "You must calm down, yelling will not help you at all.
Amir stops looking at her and closes his eyes again, leaning his head against the stainless steel wall.
Their phones start to ring but Emily ignores hers due to her panic and starts pacing back and forth.
"Yes?" Amir answers the call from his right hand, Mihair.
"Sir, are you okay? Why don't you wait for me? Which elevator are you in?"
Amir observes the whole elevator and snorts mockingly He murmurs:
"I have no idea. Would there be a difference if I had waited for you?" He closes his eyes for a second. "I doubt it."
"The hotel managers will call the fire department my lord." Mihair sounds extremely concerned, because if something were to happen to his prince in his custody, he would be in trouble. Since taking care of the Arab is more than a mission of life, his duty. "Don't worry, we will get you out of there, I assure you. Please tell me if you are okay sir ..."
"I am Mihair, this is not a big deal." He whispers to him and then shuts up when he sees Emily cry. "Although ... you know what? It doesn't seem like a bad idea for the firefighters to come, in fact, I wish they did as soon as possible. Of course! Without making such a fuss, I don't want the media to find out and put on a show."
"Yes my lord, understood." Mihair gestures to three men from the royal security team. "Is anyone else with you, Highness?"
"Yes. A crying girl." He huffs angrily.
That said, Amir listens as his head of security and right hand man begins to whisper things to other people and it makes him tense.
- Sir ... The hotel manager asks who is the person next to you.
"An employee." Answer simply "Get me out of here, now."
Emily sees him end the call and with her eyes rolling, she imagines how she pounces on him and hits him.
This man is definitely unbearable!
Gritting her teeth, she holds back her tears and bends down to take her bag which fell to the ground next to her cell phone and after finding the latter she turns it on and sees that she has nine missed calls from Katherine and four from Jason. She goes to put it back when the phone rings again.
It's Jason.
She attends immediately, at least hearing a familiar and beloved voice will help calm him down.
"Emily !! Honey, where are you?" It sounds and he's distraught because he doesn't know where she is and because he found out that she had looked for him.
" Jason please!!" She screams.
"s**t ..." He groans in horror. "Are you in the elevator?" Are you the one next to the Arab?
"Yes!!" She moans in terror, "Please get me out of here ... I'm dying. I have a panic attack!"
"Dramatic." Amir whispers as he huffs at the same time.
Emily takes the cell phone away from her ear when she hears such thoughtlessness and her hateful gaze says it all.
" Look, sir prince of I do not know where. Do me a favor and shut that poisonous mouth and don't mess with me!" She screams, "You don't know how impulsive I can become when I'm out of my mind and have a panic attack. And believe when I tell you that I have it right now!"
Amir arches one of his bushy eyebrows and c***s his head mockingly and whispers:
"Are you threatening me?"
"Take it as you like." She blurts out. "Heartless!"
She turns her back to him and taps the phone back to her ear.
"Jason ..." She sobs, "Please, this is horrible. Help me!"
"My Emi, hold on a little longer, don't worry, the firefighters are already on their way. Just have a little patience while they try to light the hotel floor."
" Plant? Why?" She asks, shocked. Since that plant has hardly ever been used unless the light ...
"Emi, the light went out on our entire street. A transformer exploded due to the impact of an object. I don't really know what happened out there. There a lot of fuss."
"Oh no ..." She moans at the memory of the announcement on the newscast a few minutes ago.
"Easy ... Emi, I'll get you out ..."
She stops listening to Jason when interference appears and the call suddenly drops.
Emily immediately sees the phone screen and sees that she no longer has coverage.
"Oh god ..." She sighs tearfully as she falls to the hard, cold ground, sitting up reluctantly.
"But what are you doing?" Amir looks at her in a daze.
"Don't you see?" She replies, "This is going to go long, I advise you to do the same."
Amir snorts and shakes his head at the thought that doing such an act is in bad taste and hygiene, since he does not want to get his fine clothes dirty by sitting on the elevator floor, where everyone walks. Stopping looking at her, he takes off her Ray Ban glasses and puts them in the inside pocket of his suit.
Five minutes later...
Emily stops looking at the ground and stops her gaze at Amir's shoes. Beautiful black suede loafers adorn her feet, they are so beautiful and unique, she can bet they were just made especially for him.
When she finally comes out of the spell, she slowly watches him from head to toe.
At least, she must admit, that the Arab has his thing. Because that black dress suit and tight to her body, it looks impressive. Which, makes her imagine how to be the figure of the Arab under him.
He is attractive to her, everything she sees of him is, although all good things go down the drain as he is a total hateful and arrogant piece of crap.
Finally, she stops her gaze on his neck, detailing the nicab that covers her entire head except her face.
Her beautiful nicab is white.
And it really makes it look very interesting.
"Do you like what you see?" He whispers mockingly and Emily flinches as his words take her by surprise, "I don't blame you if it were."
"But what have you believed?" She plays offended, but inside she's dying of grief because he described her looking at him, "Don't be so conceited and even."
"Then don't look at what isn't yours." He alleges.
She opens her mouth wide at what he said.
"Will you also tell me what to look at and what not to look at? But what happens to you?" She says in a small voice, "Are you insane?"
Amir stops looking at himself in the elevator mirror and, gritting his teeth, turns to her, who now stands up.
"One more insult and ..."
"And what?" She raises her voice. "Are you going to report me for putting you in your place? For telling the truth?" She challenges him again and now putting both hands on her pretty waist, ready to debate him, Not being intimidated by him. "What? What will you do?
Cocking his head Amir watches her threateningly.
Although a part of him deep down, admires his loose, and rebellious tongue.
He notices that she has no idea who she is dealing with.
And that makes him feel powerful and at the same time weak, because she makes him bitter, because the meaning of her loose mouth causes him grace and a certain tenderness.
It reminds him of his cousin Zorahida when she tried to catch up with him while they debated a game, but she could never reach him as obviously he has always been much taller.
The memory almost makes him smile but Amir manages to contain himself and his bitterness returns again, in a hurry when he sees reality in front of him.
The crying employee in front of him.
No woman before her had challenged him, not in that way.
Rather, no way.
They would never dare, being Amir who he is.
A prince, his prince.
But it is not of this one who is right here ... And that makes him feel weaker, which he does not like at all. So gritting his teeth, he takes a deep breath and mutters:
"Don't make me talk to the hotel owners. I'll get you kicked out for what you are, a match and anyone." He looks at her in disgust. "Who walks with two men at the same time ..."
"Sorry?" She says open-mouthed "But what did you say?"
"That, what you heard ...!"
Letting out a great laugh Emily interrupts him and raises her right hand to slap him, but halfway ... Amir stops her on the spot and tightening his hand around her forearm, he whispers:
"Don't you dare!" He growls. "You touch me and I assure you I will finish it, I will ruin your life."
Hearing him say such a thing, she laughs hysterically again.
He definitely doesn't know who I am.
"ENOUGH NOW!" He yells loudly. "This is ridiculous"
Emily stops immediately and with her cute angry look, she is silent as she stares at him, and he reciprocates that same look with complete confidence.
"You don't know how bad I can be." He says through his teeth, "So don't provoke me!"
"Well, you don't know who I am, or how bad a girl I can become."
Releasing her roughly, Amir steps away and leans his back against the elevator wall.
"Anyone like you will never be able to intimidate me, so I'm not interested in the least." It's the last thing he says before he closes his eyes again.
Emily pales at what she has heard and, hiding her anger, whispers:
"Look, it is evident that my presence is not pleasant to you, but that does not mean that you have the right to judge me or brand me that way." She sighs to try to control the murderous impulses she now has against the Arab. "You don't know me, so I kindly ask you for your respect. Just because you don't like me doesn't mean I'm just anybody."
Sighing, Amir whispers with his eyes still closed:
"I'm not interested in meeting you either. What I have heard is enough for me."
She frowns.
"Sorry?" She says barely audible at how shocked she is.
But, she gets no response.
******
Twenty minutes later.
They have been the most eternal minutes of his entire life, it is hot and the company is not pleasant. Well, he didn't even flinch to apologize to her.
So in the face of so much tension between the two, panic attacks her again and she begins to sob when she tries to call Katherine in vain, because she is still without coverage.
She puts her phone in her purse, and then covers her face for long seconds.
Until she remembers that the obnoxious Arab also has a telephone.
So totally trapped and swallowing all the pride in the world, she asks the Arab:
"Do you have coverage?"
Amir opens his eyes slowly and looking at her indifferently and mutters:
"Not for you."
"Oh God, no!" She squeals. "This can't be happening to me." She whispers to herself as she starts to shake and in rage she stands up and starts screaming as she bangs on the elevator doors.
"Please help!!" She screams desperately. "Get me out of here, for God's sake!" She moans in frustration. "HELP!"
Feeling trapped and getting no response, she begins to jump from one side to the other within the short space in the elevator and when she bumps into Amir, she falls to her knees to the ground.
He turns immediately and grimacing at her, takes her by the shoulders and helps her to stand up.
"But what's wrong with you?" He raises his voice. "Calm down now, please! Going crazy you are not going to leave."
"Do not touch me!!" She screams sobbing and Amir walks away from her without hesitation, as if nothing had happened. "You don't understand !!"
He shakes his head indifferently and then whispers:
"Explain to me then."
"I suffer from claustrophobia."
"Ahh !!" Amir nods as he understands the whole show of the woman and then ... laughs.
"But why are you laughing? What's funny?" She looks at him indignantly.
- Excuse me. It is that I remembered a person, also suffers the same. -He laughs again- But you are incomparable, definitely, you beat him.
"Ouch!!" She squeals. "I can't stand you!"
Amir laughs out loud and then, seconds later, falls silent as the elevator begins to descend rapidly ... Too fast for his liking. He immediately grabs onto the railings embedded in the steel wall and watches as the emergency light begins to blink non-stop.
Emily's scream startles him, and from looking at the emergency light, he looks down at her.
Emily looks back at him and without thinking and driven by fear-terror that invades her from head to toe, she runs up to him and hugs him tightly. Not caring that she could be rejected. Although ... To the surprise of both. Amir, feeling her, is out of focus not only because of the surprise of her act, but because of what he feels with her hands surrounding her chest. When he manages to understand what is happening, he also does the same and with one of his hands surrounds her lower back, holding her by his side and with his other free hand, he firmly grasps the thin railing anchored to the elevator wall.
"Quiet." He whispers, "It's going to happen." Try to calm her by hiding her own fears. "Think, that at least, if we die together, you will do it next to a beautiful prince. Ehda..." And he again he whispers to her to calm down. But in her Arabic language.
Emily between sobs laughs out loud at hearing his attempt to calm her down. But she stops laughing when the elevator suddenly stops again and screams as she cries again at the same time:
"Please!!" She begs him, "Lord, don't let me go, please. Don't let go of me! I beg you..."
Amir lets go of the thin railing that he was still clinging to with his right hand, in order to embrace her completely and press her tightly against his ample chest.
Seconds later he huddles next to her in one of the corners of the elevator and Emily gradually calms down.
"Quiet." He whispers again but this time against his ear.
"Don't let me go." She grips her fingers against his dress suit.
"I will not do it." He smiles at the thought of what he's about to say. "I don't want to hear your screams again."
A pout forms on the lips of the beautiful Emily, it is impossible for her to laugh this time.
She although she almost does it.
"Sorry." She sobs. "But please understand me, I'm scared. Very afraid, I hate the confinement. I don't like being in small spaces, I feel like I'm suffocating and it creates deep anxiety and panic attacks. The doctor says that my type of claustrophobia is not very common."
Amir nods at what he heard and now feels bad for having been such a beast and calling it dramatic.
- Does a doctor assist you?
"Yes." She nods as she hides her face in Amir's neck. "But it's been a long time since I've experienced something like this, in fact I don't think I've ever experienced something like this." He clears his throat. "My last confinement was a long time ago and it seems that every time it happens again, regardless of the time of the last crisis, it becomes worse, more intense. I can't control my terror."
"I understand." Amir lifts her face to look into her eyes. "I sincerely apologize, I didn't think it was that bad. Sorry. I will never make fun of you or belittle your claustrophobia again.
"Thanks." She sobs softly while at the same time sniffing her nose.
Silence invades them and the minutes pass, but nothing changes.
"I think you were right miss, this is going to last." He says while he looks at the emergency light.
" Yes, and it seems to me that we will have no choice but to sit and wait."
"Sit down?" He looks at her in disgust. "I'm not going to sit on a floor that everyone travels and who knows how many bacteria it has."
Emily laughs and takes refuge in his chest again. Talking to him is helping to ease her anxiety.
"Do not tell me that you are one of those men obsessed with cleaning ..."
"Not to the extreme, but I do like to take care of myself a lot. Hygiene is very important."
"I understand that well, but don't worry, nothing bad will happen to you once you do. Also, the floor is shiny, look." She sees him look and smiles. "The reception and elevators are cleaned here every two hours."
"Good to know that, but just like you. I also have my manias or phobias."
" And like me, you will have no choice. Truth?" She smiles at him wryly and he gives up when he understands what she means.
