Khael's POV
"What do you mean you can't find her!" I thundered at my now shivering guards who were incompetent.
"She managed to fool us and ran away away." Levi; the head of the guards stammered.
"You incompetent fools! How dare you let her go? I specifically told you that I'll have your head if anything should happen to her and you're foolish enough to let just one petite girl outsmart you all? Bunch of idiots!" I cursed.
They had their heads hung low in shame as I fumed angrily. All my life I've been searching for my mate, my other half and supposedly the one to be the Luna of my pack and when I was invited to the Azure moon pack I wanted to refuse at first but as the sovereign alpha I wanted to be there, as Klein; my wolf sensed our wolf's presence I was excited beyond bounds but the feelings soon morphed into pain.
Sensing our wolf was hurt, I barged into the place only to find out that she was being rejected by the puny alpha there and worse she was slapped, I saved the day the took her to my hotel to keep her safe while I attended to an important business only to return and find out that she was gone. Klein was restless but so was I, angry that we found but lost her.
"You idiots!" I growled and they instinctively moved away from my, my fingernails were replaced by deadly talons and I was about to take out on frustrations on them when someone suddenly stood in-between us.
"Damien, step aside." I growled warningly.
"Calm down Alpha, please." He pleaded.
"They lost my mate!" I thundered.
He sighed.
"I know and I also know how we can find her but you have to trust me." He said.
I suddenly felt calm hearing his words and my talons were gone, he signaled for them to leave which they hurriedly did.
"Speak, it better not be a ruse to protecting them." I warned.
"Of course not. I did some check on her though you didn't ask me to and she's in Massachusetts, she works as a sales rep at LRW Empire as well." Damien informed me.
"Then what are you waiting for? Got get my mate!" I growled.
"You don't want to hurt her alpha, I know how you feel but it's best if you don't act impulsively, she needs time to figure things out by herself, besides; you have business in Massachusetts in two weeks time and trust me you'll both meet, just give her sometime. All you've worked for won't be in vain, remember you once told me to always be rational, it's your turn." Damien explained.
I was uncomfortable but I saw the sense in what he was saying and realized he was right, she probably ran away because she was scared of me, I didn't plan on scaring her away so I reluctantly agreed to staying away from her. It was true I had business in Massachusetts, it was the official opening and launch of my company there, one of the many things I own, it was also the unveiling of my identity since it has been hidden from the entire world for so long.
"Okay, but only because you said so else I'd be flying to Massachusetts two minutes ago." I concurred.
Damien nodded and I sighed. All these happened two weeks ago and I was currently in Massachusetts, the two weeks was like hell to me since I had to wait that long but it was also livable as I had to put things in place.
"Mysterious billionaire who topped the Forbes list of youngest billionaire set to unveil his identity tonight at the launch of his company; Cielo Azul, a really estate company different from any other happening tonight at Massachusetts." Damien read out loudly.
"So?" I asked, unsure of what he was driving at.
"Tabloids." Damien hissed.
"Find the source and sue them for leaking a private invitation card." I said dismissively.
Damien hesitated.
"What? You think I'm being unreasonable?" I asked.
"It's a bit extreme, everyone is bound to find out one way or the other, your identity has been hidden for too long, don't you think?" Damien explained.
I groaned.
"Fine, let them be but only because you said so, I just want to get this over with, I'm only revealing my identity so I'll expand my territory and also prevent my investments and companies to fall into the wrong hands." I muttered.
Damien gave me a subtle nod and a smile before turning to leave. He wasn't just my beta but also my right-hand man and the only friend I had, he managed all of my finances and companies, represented me wherever the need be and most importantly; stayed with me when no one else did. Our parents died when I was eleven years old and he was nine due to a pack raid and ever since we've been not only on our own but also together, we built the Empire together and gave it a name, making our pack the most formidable one in the whole world.
I pushed my thoughts aside and went to sleep, I prioritize my rest a lot since I'd be needing my stamina and the party was all night. By the time I woke up; it was almost time for the party so I freshened up and wore the the tuxedo worth twenty million dollars which Damien had laid out for me. We got to the venue a little after the party had started, and I stayed hidden among the crowd, hating the attention.
Damien went upstage and gave the opening speech since he was the acting CEO and to also lengthen the suspense, all eyes were on him and his every movement, a part of me wanted my mate to be there tonight or to at least see me on TV and somehow reach out, I ached for her presence.
""Are you outrightly dumb or straight stupid? You should have been here an hour ago, what the hell are you up to?" I heard a malicious feminine voice scold.
I was interested and made to walk away but froze at the spot as I heard a familiar voice.
"I'm sorry, I got stuck in traffic."
Klein howled and growled in my head simultaneously, excited and fired up.
'Mate!' He exclaimed.
The goddess sure had plans for me tonight, an interesting twist.
