My Second-Chance Mate?

1094 Words
TRIXIE POV "What the hell are you talking about?" I asked, crossing my arms and staring straight into Hunter’s pitch-black eyes. Hunter didn't even flinch. "I'm your second-chance mate, sweetheart." “Yeah…nice try,” I said mockingly. “Now get the f**k out of my way.” “I'm being honest, princess. Do you want to test it”, he asked , leaning awfully close to me. I could almost feel his breath against my face. I let out a loud, mocking laugh, the sound echoing in the quiet hallway. "Wow. The Moon Goddess, or whatever you dogs call her, really loves playing jokes today, doesn't she?" I took a step closer, tilting my chin up. "Listen to me, leather jacket. If I just rejected Liam, what makes you think you stand a single chance with me?" Hunter leaned even closer, his face so near I could smell his cologne mixed with something dark and wild. "Isn't it obvious?" "What is?" I snapped. "I’m way better looking." I slowly looked him up and down. He wasn't entirely lying. Liam looked like a basic, lost puppy. Hunter looked more like a dangerous, giant wolf that could snap a neck with his bare hands. Still, there was no way I was letting his ego win. "Fine. You look just a tiny bit better than that blond i***t," I muttered, rolling my eyes. "But you still look like a lost wolf. Now get the f**k out of my way." I pushed past his shoulder, ignoring whatever the f**k he was mumuring on about. I marched out of the school building and down the steps, ready to get into my car and go home to plot Liam's absolute destruction. But when I got to the parking lot, my sleek black car and my driver were completely gone. "Are you kidding me right now?" I cussed out loud, pulling out my phone and typing furiously to text my driver. Where the hell are you? You're fired! "Need a ride?" a deep, gravelly voice asked from behind me. I didn't even have to turn around to know it was Hunter. I sighed heavily, locking my phone. "Fine. Drive me. At least you can make yourself useful for once." Hunter just smiled, completely unbothered by my attitude. He looked down at my arms. "Need help with your bag?" "Touch it and die," I snapped, pulling it away. "This is a limited-edition designer bag. Your hands aren't even worth touching the leather." "Fair enough," he smirked, gesturing for me to follow him. He led me toward the far side of the parking lot, and my jaw almost…almost dropped. Parked right there was the latest, most expensive sports car on the market. I had been trying to get my dad to buy me that exact car for over a week, but the waitlist was months long. "Is this caveman seriously trying to show off right now?" I mumbled under my breath. Hunter definitely caught it because his smirk widened. He walked ahead, pulled open the passenger door for me, and automatically placed his large hand over the top frame so I wouldn't bang my head on the way in. I slid into the leather seat, and he closed the door smoothly. A minute later, he got into the driver's seat and started the engine. The car roared to life, and we drove out of the school gates. The silence inside the car was suffocating, and the anger from Liam's rejection was still burning hot in my chest. Suddenly, I threw my phone down onto my lap with a frustrated groan. "Ugh, I am in such a terrible mood today," I muttered, staring out the window. "I need to go shopping. Shopping always lifts my mood." Hunter didn't reply, so I just leaned my head back against the headrest, closed my eyes, and let the smooth motion of the car put me to sleep. "Princess. Wake up." A gentle tap on my shoulder made my eyes snap open. I blinked, looking out the window, and realized we weren't at my house. We were parked right in front of the biggest, most exclusive Louis Vuitton store in the city. I frowned, turning to look at him. "What are we doing here?" "Lifting your mood," Hunter said simply, unbuckling his seatbelt. He looked at me with a dangerous gleam in his eyes. "Go wild. The bill is on me." My shopping addiction instantly flared up, wiping away half of my anger. A billionaire Alpha paying for my luxury bags? Yes, please. But I wasn't going to make it easy for him. “Are you sure your bank account can handle me?” I asked, blowing at some invisible dust on my nails. “I might just make your whole wolf pack go bankrupt with just two designer bags, don't make decisions you might regret…boy.” I said lightly leaning on the chair His eyes went pitch black for a second, or maybe it's my low iron acting up again but I could almost swear I saw his eyes went pitch black when I said “boy”. He moved closer to me, his towering height made me feel like a puppy about to get pounced by a big bad wolf. “What did you just call me?” “I said, " BOY.” He smirked lightly, then leaned against me, his head tilted and buried themselves right between my neck. Then he muttered against my ears, “I assure you I look and play nothing like a boy in bed, want to give it a try…dear mate.” He bit lightly on my ears then pulled back, I could feel the heat rushing to my face, I stood frozen for a second before I got a hold on myself. “You perverted wolf”. Hunter smiled then walked around, opened my door, and I stepped out onto the sidewalk, smoothing down my cheer skirt. I confidently pushed through the heavy glass doors of the boutique, ready to drain his bank account. But the moment we stepped inside, my entire body went stiff. Standing right by the perfume display, holding a ridiculous fluffy dog and a pile of shopping bags, was Veronica. My billionaire father’s twenty-two-year-old gold-digging girlfriend. She turned around, her fake, bright white smile freezing the moment her eyes landed on me and then widened in complete shock as she looked at the giant, terrifying wolf…no, Alpha standing right behind me. “Oh…I sure love the attention this wolf brings.”
