"Obsessed with your smell," he whispered, leaning his forehead slightly closer until it rested right against my stomach, his breathing hot through my shirt. "Obsessed with your voice, your presence, your very existence."

"But you know what?" he murmured, a faint, dark smile touching his lips. "I adore that you haunt me. I... I crave the insanity you ignite within me. The desire to be consumed by you and only you."

I reached out with my free hand, my fingers trembling slightly as they touched the soft hair at the back of his neck. "You're crazy."

Trixie is the richest, most arrogant human girl in Silverdale. When her secret werewolf soulmate, Liam (the school's golden-boy hockey captain), publicly rejects her for being too much of a brat, she doesn't cry—she sues his entire pack! Enter Hunter, the terrifying Alpha captain of the rival hockey team. He is completely obsessed with Trixie’s wild attitude. To mess with Liam, Trixie and Hunter start fake dating. But between dirty hockey games, a crazy school prank war with Hunter’s sister, and a massive secret about their bond, fake feelings quickly turn into a dangerous, burning passion.

Rejected... Then Claimed
TRIXIE POV I walked down the crowded hallway, my pleated cheer skirt swishing with every step, the diamonds on my designer bag glistening with the sunlight. Every single eye was on me. I knew it, I liked it, and honestly, I expected nothing less. "Oh my god, Trixie, I love your shoes," a sophomore muttered, though she didn't look me in the eye. I knew she’d been whispering about me yesterday, but I didn't have the energy to crush an ant today. "Thanks. They're Prada," I said, breezing right past her without stopping. "Step aside, babe, you're blocking my light.” She turned bright red and stepped aside. Instantly, the whispers started behind my back. I had overheard this b***h and her friends talking about me in the ladies restroom yesterday, they talked about how much they hate me and would beat me up if they ever had the chance to and now she's trying to suck up to me? If she's going to be a b***h she should at least be a b***h all through. "Did you hear her? Such a total bitch." A girl muttered, how dare her tattledtale ass talk about me. I wasn't going to reply to her before but her dress? Questionable. She was also among them yesterday and she had the audacity to talk about how I dress like a clown and she's in that…that dress? Two years ago they had all bullied me, they had me collect money from my dad for them then they talked behind me about how dumb I am. These bitches would collect my designer bags from me and claim it as their own and stupid me that's just how friends behave, but not anymore. They don't even dare look me in the eyes now. I'm not the same dumb girl, and if arrogance is what it takes, then that's what I'm going to be. "Did you get dressed in the dark, or does your mirror just have a personal vendetta against you?” I finally said without turning to face her but I know she definitely heard it. She gasped lightly, her face scrunched up like some spoilt bread. "I don't know how anyone stands her. She acts like she owns the school," her friend muttered. I heard every word. I just smirked. “Two face bitches,” I muttered under my breath and pushed through the heavy double doors leading to the ice hockey rink. The freezing air hit my skin, smelling like shaved ice and sweat. Down on the rink, the human-majority team was just finishing practice. The scrape of their metal blades echoed through the empty building. The moment my high heels clicked loudly against the concrete bleachers, the golden boy of Silverdale looked up. Liam, the hockey captain and the future second-in-command of the local wolf pack, stopped dead on the ice. He stared at me like I stole his tail or something. But I guess I should get used to it, I mean I am gorgeous. I suddenly felt like a physical shock wave hit my chest. My heartbeat quickened, as he stared at me. “Why do I suddenly feel like this?” Liam skated hard toward the barrier. He ripped his helmet off, his blonde hair falling perfectly across his forehead. He looked completely shocked. "Trixie?" Liam breathed, his voice carrying across the quiet arena. "You... you're my mate?" Oh…that explains the heartbeat. I crossed my arms and let out a triumphant smile. I was already planning how many diamonds he’d have to buy me to celebrate. "No. No way," Liam suddenly said. His shocked face hardened into a cool, annoying smile. He shook his head, looking at me like I was a charity case. "I can't accept this. The Moon Goddess must have made a mistake. I reject you, Trixie." My smile froze, my hands dropped to my side. Down on the ice, his teammates stopped skating. Up in the stands, students who had followed me gasped. "A Beta needs a calm, supportive girl, Trixie," Liam said, his voice entirely too reasonable. "You're too loud, too bratty, and frankly, you're a nightmare. You would ruin my future pack. I reject you as my mate." My smile froze. The physical pain was one thing then a sharp, agonizing rip in my chest that made me want to double over and scream. But the humiliation? The rejection from someone who was supposed to be my other half? It felt like drowning. Where was he when I was being bullied by those who called themselves my friend? And now he thinks I am rude? Don't cry, I screamed at myself, swallowing the burning lump in my throat. Do not let them see you bleed. I would rather swallow glass than let these wolves see me cry. The girls who won't even dared to look me in the face before suddenly started murmuring. “Suits her well, she's too arrogant”. I am arrogant? No, I just refuse to apologize for being the best thing in this room, and if he can't handle a woman who knows her value, he belongs on a leash. “She's a b***h, Liam could never be with her.” “What was she expecting? There's no love for a villain like her, even the moon Goddess couldn't make it work.” “She's going to spend the rest of her life with her designer bags.” Another girl replied to her. ‘Watching Trixie Wells get humbled, today is going to be the best day of my life,” another girl mumbled laughing. I? Get humbled? It will never happen. I let out a loud, mocking laugh that echoed off the walls, the murmurs died down instantly. "A mistake? Oh, honey, you're absolutely right," I snapped, my eyes flashing. I leaned over the glass barrier, looking down my nose at him. "The Moon Goddess must have been completely blind or high on drugs to pair a queen like me with a basic, blond charity case like you in the first place." Liam’s calm smile twitched. "Look at you," I mocked, aiming straight for blood. "Your hair looks like wet straw, my horse looks better, your hockey form in the third period is embarrassing, and everyone knows your defense line carries your entire career. You think you're a prize? You're a local tragedy." The crowd gasped. Liam’s face flushed a furious, dark red. I spun around on my heels, flipping my hair right in his face. I marched toward the exit, keeping my chin high as the gossip reached a fever pitch behind me. How dare he? my mind screamed. My blood was boiling with rage. How dare that worthless, over-hyped dog reject ME? I was furious that I didn't get to say the words of rejection first. I am arrogant? Please. If he had half my spine, he’d actually deserve that captain's patch.” I clenched my fists so hard my nails dug into my palms. I will destroy him, I vowed. I will ruin his life, his pack, and his precious hockey career until he is begging at my feet. I threw open the exit doors, ready to storm back into the school hallway and walked straight into a solid wall of pure muscle and black leather. “Are you f*****g blind?” I stumbled back, my eyes traveling up a massive chest, past a sharp jawline, straight into a pair of pitch-black eyes. Hunter. The terrifying, quiet Alpha captain of the rival all-werewolf hockey team. He shouldn't even be on this side of town. The entire hallway fell into a dead, terrified silence. Hunter didn't move an inch. “Blinded by beauty? Yeah.” “At least you know beauty when you see it…not like that foolish puppy, Liam.” I said, rubbing my forehead. A dark, dangerous smirk spread across his lips. He leaned down, his face inches from mine. His voice was a low, gravelly vibration that sent a crazy shiver straight down my spine. "I heard the trash threw itself out," Hunter whispered, his eyes locking onto my lips with an intense, creepy hunger. "Which means you're completely free for the taking, sweetheart."
