TRIXIE POV
Veronica walked up to us, her sky-high heels clicking on the glossy floor.
"Trixie, sweetie," she purred, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. "Aren't you going to introduce me to your handsome friend? I didn't know you hung out with Alphas."
I rolled my eyes so hard it practically hurt. "What, do you want to seduce him too? Is my billionaire father’s bank account not enough for you anymore?"
Veronica’s fake smile twitched, but she quickly forced it back on. "Oh, Trixie. Stop sulking over your father and me. He really loves me, you know. You should just accept that I’m here to stay."
"The only thing you're staying is desperate," I retorted rudely, flipping my hair.
I scanned her from head to toe and I just couldn't stop myself from offering a piece of advice…okay maybe more than a piece.
"Who the f**k pairs a classic monogram Speedy with neon pink spandex bike shorts? Like... is the vibe 'I just came from a spin class but I brought my sugar daddy's credit card'? Because it’s not giving what you think it’s giving.
Hunter chuckled behind me, he seems to be enjoying the show.
“Look, I get it. You're new to this tax bracket, so you think putting the biggest logo possible on your body makes you look like you belong here. But honestly? It just looks loud. And exhausting. You can keep looking at the bags, sweetie.Oh, and by the way? That shade of pink makes you look incredibly washed out. Just a thought.”
She opened her mouth and then shut it back, and then she smiled widely.
She sure knows how to keep a smile, no wonder she successfully seduced my father.
She completely ignored me, her eyes locked onto Hunter like he was a giant piece of meat. She smoothed down her dress and smiled, showing all her fake teeth.
"Come on, Hunter. The air in here suddenly smells like cheap perfume and desperation. Let's leave."
I turned to walk away, but Veronica wasn't
giving up that easily. Desperate for Hunter's attention, she actually reached out and grabbed his arm to stop him in his tracks.
"Wait just a second," Veronica said, her voice dropping the sweet act. "I'm just trying to be friendly. An Alpha of his status shouldn't be dragged around by a bitter little girl."
Hunter pulled away, no…he didn't just pull away, he jerked his arm back so violently it almost sent Veronica flying.
A look of pure, unadulterated disgust crossed his dark face. He looked at the spot where she touched him like she had just wiped mud on his expensive jacket.
"Don't touch me," Hunter barked, his voice dangerously low.
"I…I was just…" Veronica stammered, her face turning red.
Then, Hunter turned his eyes to me, a lazy, dangerous smirk spreading across his lips.
"Sweetheart," Hunter said, his deep voice echoing in the quiet luxury boutique. "I really think it would be best to introduce us to avoid any misunderstanding. Or what do you think... dear mate?"
Veronica gasped loudly, her hand flying to her mouth. "Mate? No... that's impossible. You're a human, Trixie! And he's... he's Hunter Blackwood!"
I felt a sudden rush of pure excitement. Watching Veronica turn as pale as a ghost was better than any luxury shopping spree.
I leaned back, crossing my arms, and looked at her shaking form.
"Need I say more, Veronica?" I smirked, enjoying every single second of her panic.
"Now carry your little basket and go dig some more gold before my father changes his taste. You're dismissed."
"You arrogant little b***h," Veronica hissed, completely forgetting where she was.
She turned to Hunter, her voice shaking with anger as she pointed a manicured finger at me. "You... you don't know what you're getting into! Trixie is the most bratty, rude, and spoiled girl in this entire town! Everyone hates her! She is completely unsuitable to be a mate to an Alpha. She'll ruin you!"
"Are you done crying?" I asked, yawning into my hand. "Because your foundation is cracking and it's getting hard to look at you."
"Shut up!" Veronica screamed. She looked back at Hunter, practically begging him to agree with her. "Look at her! She has no respect for anyone! She thinks money can buy her everything. She doesn't even have a wolf! How can she lead a pack? She's a nobody!"
The temperature in the room seemed to drop to freezing. Hunter stepped forward, his towering body completely shadowing Veronica.
His eyes went pitch black, and his Alpha aura flared so hard that even the fluffy dog in Veronica's arms started whimpering.
"My woman is exactly how she needs to be," Hunter growled, his voice vibrating through the floorboards. "She can be as bratty as she wants, and I will worship her regardless. Now get out of her sight before I make you.”
