Danny
It was hard seeing her hurt. Her feet and toes were red with dried blood and her ankles were skinned. As she laid asleep, hugging herself, she shivered and I knew that the only way to keep her warm would be if I held her, but so far she hasn't let me near her.
I knew she was wary of me because of everything I'd done. I f*cked up. I killed the Alpha of her pack after planning an attack on it. There were no excuses for me. I'd just have to live with the fact that I had hurt her even before I met her. I glanced out at the opening of the cave and hoped that nothing or no one would come by so that I could help her warm up. If Onyx were awake, she would be so warm if she let him cuddle her.
I laid down behind her and scooted as close as I could to her. I wrapped an arm around her tiny waist and laid my head behind her, inhaling the mouthwatering scent coming from her. It had been so hard all day to be near her and not touch her.
I had fought with myself all day to leave her alone. Don't talk . Just move. Get her somewhere safe. And all she did was fight me. All of her smart a*s comments to aggravate me, I knew, were to make herself feel better about being with a man that she thought was bad. It was her defense mechanism and I tried my hardest not to let her get to me, but thinking of her with any other men just fried every sane brain cells in my head and made me see red.
I grinned at the thought of angering her earlier too. I told her the truth and she didn't seem to like it very much when I told her about my women.
She cuddled closer to me, her a*s rubbing against my crotch. I bit my lip to keep myself from rubbing against her. She was so soft and warm. I felt like I could rip the clothes right off of her and take her and mark her. I had seen the way she looked at me when she thought I wasn't looking . She liked what she saw.
But I had to be good. I had to show her she could trust me. I needed her to know that she could.
I fell asleep and even though it was cold and I was supposed to keep an eye out, it was the best sleep I had gotten in such a long time. When I woke up, it was to her having turned around in the middle of the night and curled up against me, her face and arms tucked to my chest and her legs entangled in mine.
Light shone through the opening of the cave and I knew that it was early enough to keep walking. Onyx still hadn't stirred and I hated not having him. He could have gotten us a few small rabbits or something substantial to feed her. I could hear her stomach growling as I held her and knew that it would take her a while to get used to eating less.
I unwrapped myself from her gently and crawled out of the cave just to see where we could go next. We would have to hide in the mountains for a bit until her pack was either tired of looking for us or they thought her dead. After that, maybe I could move her to a human town for a bit and let her stay somewhere with a bed and heat.
I couldn't see anything good, even after climbing some trees and figured maybe staying here would be okay for another day. It would give her feet enough time to recover from the long trek out here.
I found a couple of squirrels and was able to find a couple of eggs in a nest to feed her. I gathered some wood and began trying to make a fire. With the morning dew, everything was a bit wet, so it was hard trying to get anything to light.
When I finally did, I found a sharp rock and gutted and skinned the squirrels to cook them for her. Wes and I would just eat them in wolf form, raw, but I knew she wasn't used to this. She wouldn't want to eat it like that. She seemed to be sensitive.
"Did they bite you or something?" I looked up at the sound of her husky, sleepy voice and became breathless staring at her. She was...Goddess she was beautiful. She was looking down at the squirrels I put on a stick to cook over the fire and I shook my head.
"No. Just thought you'd want to eat something other than the junk you packed."
"I like junk. It's the reason I got it." She rubbed her arms and walked to sit next to the fire. She sat across from me and held her hands out to the fire.
She shivered and I scooted around the fire and slowly wrapped my arm around her shoulder and rubbed the small, cold bumps on her arm. She leaned in against me, yawning and laid her head against my chest. She turned her body so that she was curled up against me like she had done last night and yawned again.
"What are we doing today?"
"Staying here until your feet feel better and then finding somewhere further into the mountains to stay."
"So no walking today, for now?"
"No."
"Thank the Goddess. My feet hurt." She grumbled and took one of her feet in her hands. She glanced down at it and grimaced at all of the dried blood on them.
"I need to wash myself. Maybe we can look for that stream we saw yesterday on our way up?"
"Sure."
"Will it be cold?"
"Most likely."
"Ugh. I just want to be warm!" She growled and settled under my arm. I rubbed her back and arm, hoping the friction would help warm her up and she quieted, watching the squirrel cook in the fire.
"Question." She said after a bit. "Would you be awfully offended if I transformed to eat that thing? I don't think I'll be able to keep it down otherwise."
I shrugged. As long as she got food in her, I would be fine.
"No. I wouldn't be offended. I probably could have kept it uncooked though."
"Ew. I know Peri would have eaten it but....gross."
I rolled my eyes and sighed. "As long as you eat, I don't care."
"So did your wolf come back? Or did you catch these in human form?"
"Human. He's still not awake. You'll know when he's awake." She furrowed her eyebrows.
"Why do you say that?"
"Because he will want to be all over you. He's been angry at me forever because we haven't been able to get to you. As soon as he knows you're with me, he won't want to let you go."
"So...are you saying that your wolf is more attracted to me than you are?"
"No. I'm saying that you're lucky that he wasn't here last night or I wouldn't have been able to stop him when you rubbed your ass on me last night."
"I did not." She pulled away and glared at me. She had on her cute little glasses on her face and her hair was a rat's nest on the top of her head.
"You did. But I was a perfect gentleman. You're welcome."
She rolled her eyes and moved her hand to her hair. Sh pulled her hair tie out of her hair and pulled it all tightly into a bun and stuck her tongue out at me.
I had an urge to grab her back to me and take her tongue in my mouth, but I knew it would be too much too soon. Besides my wolf would be forward enough for the both of us as soon as he was awake, so I needed to be on my best behavior until then.
The squirrels were done cooking and I placed them on a flat rock by the entrance of the cave. We needed to eat them quick before they attracted any hungry animals. Last thing I needed was for a giant cat to attack us while Onyx was asleep.
"Transform quickly. You need to eat it fast before we get any unwelcome visitors."
She grimaced and sighed. She crawled into the cave and it took about five minutes before a slender grey wolf walked out of the cave and looked up at me. She whined and pushed one of the squirrels towards me with her snout. She took her own squirrel delicately and ate it with such a sophistication for a wolf. I kneeled down next to her and ate mine quickly, and sucking the meat off of the bones. She licked her lips after she was through and I knew she was still hungry so I brought over the small eggs I found and held one out to her.
She took it in her mouth, cracking it with her teeth and then chewing it as the insides seeped out. I gave her the next one, but she refused it and looked at me with expectant eyes. I cracked the egg and slurped down the insides and handed her the shells. They would help with her fur. She ate the shells quickly then sat down and continued to look at me.
"What else do you want?" She walked to me and like a cat, rubbed her body against my body. She wanted me to pet her. I smiled. Peri seemed to like me a lot more than her human counterpart. I sat down and let the wolf lay in my lap. She was big, but not enough to overwhelm me. She was heavy and warm and if we weren't out in the open, I was sure I could fall asleep with her on me. She licked my face gently and looked at me with large brown eyes.
I could see them full of love and I grinned at her. I wished I could tell her that I already loved her too. But I doubted that her human would like that very much, so I just placed my forehead against hers and rubbed the sides of her neck and down along her body.
She unexpectedly rolled onto her back and whined. She wanted me to give her belly rubs. I had yet to seen this in any other wolves. This was the most vulnerable position a wolf could be because she was baring the most delicate parts of her body. But she didn't seem to care. I rubbed her belly and watched as he leg moved, my rubs tickling her.
I liked this side of Jocelyn. She was so docile and not angry.
"You're going to love Onyx. And Onyx is going to love you. He's going to be so excited to meet you."
She turned back onto her stomach and nuzzled my throat. I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around her. I wished in that moment that it was Jocelyn that wanted me like this, but I tucked that thought back to the back of my head. Maybe soon enough she would want me as much as I wanted her.
After an hour of just lounging with her wolf, she stood up and walked back into the cave. Jocelyn came back out with a scowl on her face. She walked to the fire that was beginning to go out and sat in front of it, away from me.
"Peri is such a kiss a*s. You won't ever catch me acting like such a pushover, so stop smiling at me like that."
"Seems to me that she might give you some issues when Onyx clocks in. "
"She can try, but she won't win." She shrugged and laid down by the fire, pillowing her head on her arm. I walked over and sat next to her bare feet. I thought about grabbing them to examine them to see if she was looking better, but she seemed to know what I was thinking and curled her feet to her bottom.
"It's okay. I'm content just being here with you."
"How? I mean this freezing sh*t sucks and nature and not knowing where to go pee or anything sucks."
"Do you have to pee, Jocelyn?"
"No."
"Do you?"
"Fine. Yes. But I don't know where to go and I didn't want Peri to go out on her own either. And I don't like feeling dirty, which I already do and..." She took a deep breath and chewed the inside of her cheek. I could see her eyes cloud with tears and I felt guilt rock me to my core. I was used to living like this, but it was all new to her.
"We can go to the stream afterwards and you can wash up there."
"But it's cold. I'm already freezing as is, I don't want to freeze to death after washing up." I looked up at the sky and knew that around midday, it would be a lot warmer for her.
"I'll take you somewhere close to the stream to go pee, you can wash whatever for the time being, and then around midday, I'll take you back to wash everything else. How does that sound?"
She smiled and sat up.
"Okay. We can do that. But I lied...it's actually number two."
"Number two what?"
"I have to go number two."
"Jocelyn, I don't know what the heck number two is!"
She blushed and turned away from me. "Poop. I have to poop." She hid her face in her hands and I couldn't help but chuckle at her embarrassment.
"Why didn't you just say that? How was I supposed to know what number that would be?"
"Everyone knows that pee is number one and poop is number two. Its like... universal."
"Obviously it isn't. What's number three?"
"I don't know. I think it's when you get an upset stomach and have the really bad poops."
I grinned incredulously at her and nodded slowly. "Okay, well, I guess let's go dig you a hole for your number two and then get you washed up."
"You don't have to repeat it."
"What? That you have to poop?"
"Yes! Just take me and stop saying it!"
I chuckled at her flustered face and stood up. She crawled back into the cave and came back out wearing the shoes that scraped the sh*t out of the back of her ankles.
She winced as we began walking away from our cave and into the woods. I walked us a bit away, close to the stream and dug a small hole for her to go in behind a tree.
She waited until I walked away from her and then she squatted down. I stared at the water and wondered if I could catch some fish without Onyx. I knew with his claws he could easily get them, but I wasn't so sure about it without him.
Jocelyn cleared her throat behind me and I looked at her. She was blushing. "Can we go to the water now?"
I took her to the stream and turned around so that she could 'clean herself '. After she was done, I walked into the cold water just enough to cover my ankles and peered into the clear water to see if I could see any good fish.
"What are you looking for?
"Lunch."
"I can fish."
"In human form with a pole?"
"No. Peri is a good fisher."
She motioned for me to turn around again and the asked me to close my eyes so that I could take her clothes from her. I closed my eyes and felt her set her clothes in my arms. And then I heard a small yip and I opened them to see her wolf wading through the water, looking down and getting ready to pounce. I felt pride in my chest when she snapped down at the water and wagged her tail as she brought me a giant largemouth bass. I quickly put her clothes down at the edge of the stream and took the wriggling fish from her mouth. She went back into the water and I quickly killed the fish and waited as she caught another.
Goddess this girl was amazing. I was already starting to fall for her. It was also then that I began to feel Onyx stir. I knew that after this, it would be a long day. I just hoped that she was ready for it.
