CHAPTER ONE:THE DEAL
"You will take over Han Corporation." Ji-hoon didn't even look up from the documents in front of him. "You said what??" His father annoyed, "You'll take over the company" he repeats. "No." The word dropped into the huge dining room like a stone. Across the table, his father slowly lowered his glass. "What did you say?" Ji-hoon finally looked up. "I said no." Silence. The Hans were not a family that handled refusal well. Especially not from the heir. His father, Han Seung-min — chairman of Han Corporation, real estate, finance, hotels, tech, everything that mattered — stared at him coldly. One day, all of it was supposed to belong to Ji-hoon. It was supposed to be an honor. Ji-hoon saw it as a prison. "You're twenty-nine," his father said. "How long will you keep acting like a rebellious teenager?" "Wanting my own career doesn't make me a teenager." "Career?" His father laughed without humor. "You call playing around in entertainment a career?" Ji-hoon's jaw tightened. "I'm not playing around." "You are the future chairman of Han Corporation." "And I don't wanna be." "You don't get to decide that." Ji-hoon pushed the papers away. "That's exactly what I get to decide." His father slammed his hand on the table. "Everything you have came from this family!" "And that's exactly why I don't want to spend the rest of my life being told what to do with it," Ji-hoon said, eyes darkening. For a moment neither of them spoke. Then the older man leaned back. "You're exactly like your mother." Ji-hoon's expression changed. Just slightly, but enough. His mother — the woman whose death changed everything, the one who told him never to live a life designed by someone else. The one his father rarely ever mentioned. "Don't bring her into this," Ji-hoon said quietly and stood, grabbing his jacket. "Then stop behaving like her." "I've made my decision." "Ji-hoon — if you walk out tonight, don't expect me to keep cleaning up after you." Ji-hoon turned at the door. "I never asked you to." Then he walked out. His father's voice followed him down the hall. "You'll come back." He'd heard that his whole life. You're going to inherit the company. You're going to marry who we choose. You're going to live like a Han should. For once, he wanted something that was entirely his. Not his father's company, not his family's name. Something he built himself. He knew exactly where he wanted to start — entertainment. --- Three days later, Han Entertainment Agency got an unexpected visitor, and Yuna Lee was having the worst morning of her career. She sat in the conference room, arms folded, staring at her own face on the big screen behind the director. Another headline. Another scandal. *YUNA LEE INVOLVED IN NEW CONTROVERSY.* She sighed. "Is there anything else?" The director looked uncomfortable. "Yuna—" "No, seriously. Yesterday it was that I'm difficult to work with. This morning I'm dating a married producer. What's tomorrow?" Nobody answered. Six years. Six years of auditions, rejections, waking up before sunrise for shoots, memorizing scripts till her eyes hurt, smiling at events when she wanted to disappear. She wasn't born into fame. Nobody opened a door for her. She'd kicked every door down herself, and now one stupid rumor threatened everything. "I didn't date him," she said firmly. "I know. But the public doesn't." "So your solution is what?" Before he could answer, the conference room door opened. A tall man walked in — black suit, white shirt, no tie, dark hair neatly styled, expression so calm it almost looked arrogant. He didn't look like someone who needed permission to enter. He looked like someone who owned the building. The director jumped up. "Mr. Han." Yuna's eyebrow lifted. Han? The man ignored everyone except the director. "Sorry I'm late." His voice was low and composed. "Of course, please sit." He took the chair opposite Yuna. For the first time their eyes met. She expected arrogance, but she saw something else — distance. Cold, but not cruel. "That's the scandal?" he asked, glancing at the screen. "Unfortunately," Yuna said, frowning. He studied the headline, then looked at her again. "You're Yuna Lee. Actress. Model. Six years in the industry." Her eyes narrowed. "You did your research." "I don't enter negotiations unprepared." "Negotiations?" She glanced at the director. "What are we negotiating?" The director cleared his throat. "This is Ji-hoon Han... His family owns Han Corporation." Yuna's expression didn't change. "So?" Ji-hoon's lips twitched — first hint of amusement she'd seen. "Mr. Han is interested in investing in the agency," the director hurried to explain. Ji-hoon placed a thin folder on the table. "Not investing. I want to acquire a controlling interest." Silence. "You're buying us?" Yuna said. "I'm making an offer. Your agency has potential." "That sounds like a business answer. What's the real reason?" "I've decided to enter the entertainment industry." She almost laughed. "You? You don't look like someone who knows anything about entertainment." "I know how businesses work." "That doesn't mean you know how actors work." "I didn't say I did," he said simply, and that straightforward answer caught her off guard. He opened the folder. "I'll provide funding to expand — new productions, new talent, international projects, better contracts." "And you want?" "Control over business operations." "So you want to buy the agency and run it. What does that have to do with me?" His gaze rested on her. "Everything. I want you as the face of the agency." "You just met me." "I've spoken enough. Your career survived six years without a powerful family behind you. You're currently in a scandal that could damage that name. I can make it disappear." Her eyes sharpened. "What do you want in return?" He closed the folder. "That's why I'm here. I want to make you an offer. Not here though — somewhere private." She should have refused. Every instinct told her not to trust powerful men who appeared with impossible offers. But Yuna had never been afraid of difficult situations. "Fine," she said. "I'll hear him out." As they walked out, she glanced sideways at him. "You know, Mr. Han... you're very mysterious." "I don't intend to be." "Then why do I feel like there's something you're not telling me?" For the first time, he smiled. Brief, almost invisible, but she saw it. "Because there is." "What exactly did I just agree to?" The elevator doors opened. He stepped inside and turned. "You'll find out soon." "Wait!" She hurried forward as the doors began to close. He held them. "What?" "If this is some kind of game, I'm not interested." "Neither am I." The doors closed. Neither of them knew that before the year was over, that simple business meeting would change both their lives. Because sometimes the most dangerous contract isn't the one you sign. It's the one your heart makes for you.
