It's 7:30 a.m., and after Jessica reaches the college, she struggles to find her friend, Laurence. She was in the utmost grief and anger, searching, but couldn't get her to where they usually meet in college.
Jessica's fear was her mother's condition, which took her down. She had never heard such a condition happen to anyone. But her mother is testing it now.
Jessica's mom, Lydia, is an old classroom teacher who has taught students for more than twenty years. She manages the income she gets from the job to cater to some of the family's needs. She barely went out to teach with an unprepared breakfast. Despite the fact that she is taking her time at school, she used to get home early to prepare for a launch before coming back with Amelia and Jessica from school.
She is so kind to the extent that she follows her husband to the bank with food to make sure he doesn't leave tarnished.
Major Dad's work was to build a home. But her major aim is to keep a strong home filled with love and affection. An affection for missing everyone that moves somewhere around.
And now, mom is not around. She is being moved to the hospital. She doesn't know what brought her down.
She then moved to the theater hall in search of Laurence. Her heart was filled with temptations and fear of losing mom.
Three feet from the hall, Jessica heard a name being called far from where she stood. It's Laurence calling her name as the voice is recognized.
She took a step back to where she was sitting without answering the call. Her face filled with anger, while her eyes turned red after crying for a long time.
Laurence had never seen Jessica in such a moment before. She dove into an ocean of confusion about what might be wrong with her.
She quickly stood up and confronted Jessica in a pleasant manner. She stood up front to her and held her shoulder, her eyes filling with confusion.
"What's wrong with you, Jessica?" Laurence asked while keeping eye contact in anticipation of a response from her.
"Everything… my everything…Maybe she is leaving," Jessica said while sobbing uncontrollable tears.
"What's that, everything? Can you please elaborate?" Laurence asked.
"Mom, my mom is down. She is taken to the hospital," Jessica asked, pointing at the gate.
"Which hospital? Let's go and find out what's wrong with her," Laurence said.
"No! Laurence, my dad and sister are there taking care of her, though; I don't know which hospital they attend," Jessica said while nodding her head left and right in seeping tears.
"Why would you say that? Is mommy not important to you?" Laurence said.
" No! She is my everything, but I have to go to school. Remember, it's our final day. We have been here for years waiting for the day, and it has come. So I don't have to miss it for the sake of my future, even though my future is down." Jessica said.
She holds her hands tightly to the hall where they are supposed to take the exam.
Dad and Amelia arrived at the hospital at exactly 7:45 a.m. A wheelchair was granted to them by one of the health personnel in white.
Lydia was pulled to the emergency unit, where she was accepted by the head of the unit in a blue gown.
The patient is gasping; she is struggling for oxygen. The man in blue, who seemed to be the boss of the department, told Amelia's father.
She just nods her head constantly. The girl in the white moves the chair to VIP, as ordered by the doctor.
Amelia and her dad were asked to go out of the room to give them a full chance of understanding their patient's condition, so as to begin treating them appropriately. And they did as asked.
After a series of investigations, the doctor found out that she needed oxygen for ten days while continuing treatment.
A girl in white, who seemed to be the nurse of the unit, was asked by the doctor to bring an oxygen saturation monitor.
Lydia was unconscious, despite having all her eyes opened. She's just seeing their movement without understanding what's going on in the surrounding area.
She is still gasping before the replacement of the oxygen. After that, she turned to her normal senses until mild abdominal pain kept pushing her against the wall.
Amelia and her dad were seated in a waiting chair. Their eyes were on the door, anticipating one of the health personnel asking about her condition.
The doctor comes out in a hurry; the stethoscope is on his neck, followed by a nurse.
Doctor, what is her condition? What's wrong with her? Amelia asked hurriedly after she stood up from the chair.
He remained silent and went directly to Dad. "We're doing our best to make sure she's not in danger and glad she is safe." The doctor said, "But she is suffering from insufficient oxygen supply in her body and also has a liver to problem. But there's nothing to worry about since we provided her with oxygen. And we're still working on making sure we treat the underlying condition well, '' the doctor said while calling Dad's attention directly to his office.
"Let's have a seat," the doctor asked while pointing at a chair beside him.
As I have told you, your wife needs oxygen to survive in this critical condition. It's our responsibility to remove patients from danger, or danger from the patient; that's why we didn't ask for you before giving her oxygen.
"Now, you'll make a payment of $1000 per day and continuously for the equivalent of ten days." The doctor said, "After all, we're doing a quality check on her liver to confirm it's working condition.
Jessica's father stood up with a tear-like face. A sudden sweat that keeps oozing out of his face and body entirely alert the doctor that there may be a problem with the payment.
He spent more than a minute without saying a word to the doctor.
A minute later, he got closer to the doctor and asked for a discount after he stated his condition and his financial problems, but the doctor refused to listen. Instead, he allowed him to take a rest and come up with ideas on where to find the money.
Jessica's father heads to the door and leaves the hosp
ital without knowing where to go in search of the money to pay for the bill.
