A Mate That was Lost

Chapter 10

After Lani and I got back to the packhouse, I decided to walk her to her room. I just didn’t want the night to end so when we got to her door I knew I had to said goodnight and go back to my room alone. I wasn’t prepared for her to ask me to come inside her room with her but I knew that if I had accepted her invitation one of two things would happen. I would either end up making slow sweet love to her, which would either be moving too fast or make her think that this was my plan from the beginning. To just get her in bed which it wasn’t, my plan was to show her that I truly meant what I said and I wanted her to fall in love with me and let me mark her on her own terms.

Which brings me to the second reason why I had to refuse her invitation. Which was that I wouldn’t be able to control Hades and he would end up marking her without her consent. I was already at war with him right now because I wanted to wait to mate with her let alone mark her. So I swallowed my desires and walked away from her with just a quick kiss on the cheek.

Now it was 5:30 am and I was wide awake thinking about our date. I smiled as my alarm went off at the thought of seeing her again. I quickly got out of bed and went to my bathroom to brush my teeth. When I was done I ran my hand through my hair and walked to my dresser and threw on a pair of gym shorts and a loose tank top and headed downstairs to the training field.

When I arrived at the field, Lani was already there with Victor. I let my eyes rake over her body. She was wearing tight and short workout shorts and a loose t-shirt that showed off her stomach. When I got closer, Victor stepped closer to Lani and I growled at how close they were. They were almost touching and Hades was howling at me to rip his arms off. I took a deep breath and forced a smile on my face.

“Good morning,” I said coolly. “Lani, I had fun last night and I hope we get to do it again soon.”

I smirk as I see Victor tense up and Lani just blushes and shifts uncomfortably, taking a step away from Victor. My smile widens.

“Morning,” Lani saids, not looking me in the eye.

Victor glares at me as I turn and wait for my warriors to arrive. The start to arrive and I glanced at my phone to see that it's ten minutes till six. I smile at my warriors and turn to our trainers. I see Lani go from a shy girl a moment ago to a no nonsense trainer. I tense up as I feel a familiar presence walk up next to me.

“Morning, Alpha,” Jenna saids, latching herself onto my arm.

I freeze and don’t said anything as I see Lani’s eyes narrow at Jenna’s arm linked with mine. I feel Jenna press her boobs into my arm. I hear Lani growl.

Oh s**t.

Lani’s POV

I was riding on cloud nine from my surprise date with Jake last night only for it to come to a halt when I saw Victor waiting for me outside in the morning and then my stomach dropped when Jake came out and mentioned it. I was blushing like crazy and my stomach was in knots when Jake’s warriors came out. When they were all gathered the knots quickly disappeared as I got into trainer mode.

I was about to speak when Jenna walked up to Jake and latched herself to Jake and batted her eyes up at him. She was wearing nothing but a tight sports bra that pushed her non-existent boobs up so much they almost popped out and some really tight short shorts that looked like her ass was eating. My eyes narrowed and I glared at her as she said good morning and when she pushed her boobs onto his arm, I growled.

  Jake looked at me with panic written all over his face and his eyes widened when he heard me growled. I looked away and avoided Jake’s eyes as I scanned the crowd.

“Alright Silver Lake warriors,” Vic’s voice boomed. “I am Victor and I am sure you know Lani, as she used to be a part of your pack.”

  Victor paused motioning over to me. Jenna yawned and a few people snickered as she said something to them too quiet for me to hear. No doubt she said something mean and degrading about me.

“Your Alpha, Lani, and I have come up with a training plan,” Vic continued. “We will be training you in human form and then in wolf form. We will start off today conditioning together to see where everyone is and then we will break off and the male warriors will be with me while the female warriors with Lani. We will spar one on one with each of you to see what we will need to work on.”

I nodded my head in agreement.

“Alright,” I yell. “Let's get the conditioning started. Here is how it works. Victor will be running in the back while the rest of you will try and catch me. We will be doing this for three hours and if you can catch me before the three hours are up then we will stop the conditioning and move on to sparring. This will be how we are doing conditioning until you all can keep up with me without any problems. Victor will be watching for people who start to tire out and if you stop before we are done he will add an hour for each person who stops on to tomorrow's conditioning.”

Victor nods and we watch as we hear groans in the crowd.

“Come on,” Jenna sneers. “How fast can this Omega trash be? Just because she lost a few pounds doesn’t mean s**t. She can’t be as fast as those of us who’ve been training our whole lives.”

Victor and I smirk at each other. This b***h has no idea what she just started.

“We will see,” Vic chuckles. “Alright if there are no questions we will get started.”

  He turns and nods at me. I smile and look at everyone before I turn on my heel and take off towards the woods. I hear some scrambling before the others are chasing me. I look over my shoulder and see them far behind me and decide to slow my pace into a brisk jog as I enter the woods. I am jogging when I hear someone closing in fast and I turn my head to see Jake running at me and I quickly jump and push off a tree with my foot doing a flip avoiding his hands. I smirk at him when he stumbles into the tree.

“I’m not gonna make this easy on you just cause we are mates,” I giggle.

When he turns to look at me I hear more of his warriors behind me and I take off again before he can grab me. I hear him curse under his breath as I disappear again. I am laughing as I jog through the woods.

When the three hours are finally up I am standing in the field again as the warriors jog back out of breath. Even Jake is breathing heavy as sweat drips down his face. I am barely winded and am a little disappointed at the warriors' stamina. Victor jogs up to me and I sigh. He barely broke a sweat as well and he just shakes his head.

“We’ve got some work to do,” he remarks.

I nod my head in agreement. I smirk as I see Jenna is trying to catch her breath.

“Alright,” I said, addressing the out of breath warriors. “We will take a break so you guys can get some water and rest before we split up and you spar with us.”

After about fifteen minutes, Victor calls for us to split up. Jake walks up to me and wrap an arm around my waist.

“Have fun,” Jake whispers. “Don’t hurt them too bad.”

“I’ll try my best,” I said, smiling up at him.

My eyes widen when he bends and kisses my cheek tenderly. He walks away toward Vic and I look at Vic. His eyes are wide when he looks at me in shock but then narrow when he looks at Jake. I sigh and realize that I am going ot have to tell him that Jake is my mate before he does something stupid and starts a war between our packs and I am forced to choose between my mate and my pack.

I turn only to run into a glaring Jenna. I roll my eyes and walk around her to the other she-wolves.

“Alright ladies,” I said loudly. “Here is how the sparing will work. You will try and pin me down for at least three seconds. You will not be shifting in anyway. No claws, no teeth, and definitely no wolf form. If you break these rules you will spend tomorrow running until I tell you to stop.”

Everyone nods their head in understanding.

“Alright,” I continue. “Who’s first?”

To my surprise Jenna doesn’t volunteer and instead another she-wolf does. I spar against her and have her pinned in no time. This goes on until it is only Jenna left. The boys are already done and have joined the others to watch us spar. I look over a Vic silently asking if anyone pinned him. He shakes his head. I sigh and look over at Jenna as she walks into the circle everyone has formed around me. I quickly realized why Jenna wasn’t so quick to volunteer. Alicia must have told her Jake and I are mates. She wants an audience and most importantly she wants Jake to watch as she takes me down and proves that she deserves to be Luna. She wants Jake to reject me for her.

I smile. Jenna has no idea what she is getting herself into. I am not gonna fight over Jake but I am not gonna lose to Jenna. She makes her way into the middle and puts her hands on her hips and smirks at me.

“We don’t have to spar,” she said too sweetly. “I don’t want to embarrass you in front of everyone.”

“I think I can handle it,” I said just as sweetly.

She shrugs her shoulders and gets into a fighting stance. I just stand there relaxed. It isn’t long before she launches herself at me throwing a punch. I easily dodge and catch her arm throwing her over my shoulder. She gasps as she lands on her back getting the wind knocked out of her.

“We can stop,” I mock. “I don’t want to embarrass you in front of everyone.”

She growls and jumps to her feet and launches herself at me again. She throws punch after punch and I dodge each of them effortlessly. When she throws a kick at me, I am momentarily shocked but quickly recover and grab her leg and throw her across the makeshift ring. She recovers and gets to her feet growling in frustration. We circle each other and before she can start her assault on me again I launch myself at her and sweep my foot and knock her down. Before she can jump to her feet I am on her throwing punches and she blocks a few and attempts to grab my hands. I grab one of her hands and quickly maneuver so her arm is between my legs and I am holding onto her wrist. I lean back pulling her arm with me.

She screams in pain but doesn’t tap out. She is trying to roll and shake me off her but I am not relenting my hold. I squeeze my thighs together. She is thrashing around trying her best to break my hold.

“Tap out,” I grunt. “Don’t make me dislocate your shoulder.”

She shoots me a glare and I shrug my shoulder and pull more and she shrieks. Vic and Jake are on us to pull us apart before I can actually do any real damage. Vic pulls me off and onto my feet while Jake is helping Jenna to hers. Jenna falls into his arms and Jake automatically catches her. I stare in shock that quickly turns to rage as she wraps her arms around his waist.

“Jake did you see what she did,” she cries. “She’s a psycho. She tried to actually hurt me and pull my arm off.”

Before I can hear his response I turn on my heel and storm off. 

I can’t believe that s**t. She refused to tap out. Now she was playing victim. I growl in frustration. I feel someone next to me so I look over to see Vic walking beside me. 

“Don’t let her get to you,” Vic said softly. “She refused to tap even though she clearly lost.”

“Thanks,” I huff. “She just wants attention and makes me look like a ruthless b***h so nobody likes me.”

“I won’t let that happen,” he growls. “Nobody is gonna treat you like s**t while Derek and I are here.”

I sigh and nod my head. I continue to walk to the packhouse. We walk upstairs and stop in front of my door and I turn to Vic.

“Thanks for making me feel better,” I said. “I’ll see you for lunch in about an hour.”

He nods his head and smiles at me before walking to his room. I walk into my room and stand there lost in thought. After A while I walk into my bathroom and start the shower. I take my hair out of a ponytail and quickly strip out of my sweaty close. I jump in the shower and just stand there letting the warm water run down my body easing my muscles into relaxation. After A while I quickly wash my hair with my coconut shampoo and then condition it with the matching conditioner after washing out the shampoo. I finish by washing my body with my vanilla body wash.

I step out of the shower and towel dry my hair deciding to leave my long waves down for the rest of the day. I walk out of the bathroom naked and walk over to the dresser. I put on a matching lacey deep purple bra and panty set. I throw on some capris that are tight but loose enough to be comfortable and makes my ass look good. I throw on a black crop top. When I am finished I hear a knock on my door. I open the door and I see Jake standing in the hall his hair damp showing he showered before coming to see me.

“What do you want,” I said coolly.

I see hurt flash across his face and he smiles sheepishly.

“I was wondering if you would like to go to lunch with me.” he asks.

“She can’t,” Vic said walking up. “She is going to lunch with me.”

Anger flashes in Jake’s eyes. He growls but doesn’t said anything. He just turns and walks away bumping his shoulder against Vic’s.

“He’s pissed,” Diamond said. “We should go and find him and explain.”

“No,” I answered immediately. “Let him be angry. I’m sure Jenna can make him feel better.”

Diamond growls at the thought but doesn’t say anything. Instead she retreats back into my mind.

“Jeez,” Vic grumbles. “What is his problem?”

“Who knows,” I shrug.

“He acts like he owns you or something,” Vic growls.

“Well he does unless I reject him,” I blurt.

I gasp and cover my mouth as Vic looks at me confused. I sigh. I guess I should tell him now.

“Vic,” I said apologetically. “Jake’s my mate.”
