Chapter 8

Mia's POV: "Alright, Mom. How about if I don't want the mates? How do I reject them?" I asked, watching her face intensely. Her eyes widened at my inquiry. "Mia, you cannot reject your mate. It's against the pack's law to do that. A mate is a gift from the moon goddess, creating a special bond for us to love and trust each other. If you reject your mate, you risk losing your wolf, and finding another mate isn't easy. So, I will not advise you to do that. Even if your mate is crippled, deaf, dumb, or a person you hate the most, you have to accept the bond. The bond exists for a reason. Unless you don't want him, but it's not easy to move on after rejection. You will be in constant pain, and it might take years for you to heal. Take me and Alpha David, for example. Though Alpha David lost his mate, while your father only left me. It's not like your dad rejected me. But whenever he cheats on me, I feel the pain, and he surely will feel mine from last night, since he stubbornly refused to accept my rejection." "What? You feel pain whenever Dad cheats in London?" I asked Mom, my eyes widening in shock. "Yeah. I feel pain in my heart, and he surely will feel the pain too. Since the bond is still there, but I cannot continue to wait for him," Mom said, her voice filled with sadness. "It's fine, Mom, but what if Dad shows up before the wedding? Will you still reject Dad or call off the wedding?" I asked my mother, watching her face curiously. "No. I will not call off the wedding. Your father will still leave me and return to London. That's the fact. He will not return, and I cannot compromise for him again. Did you call your father and tell him? I didn't inform him. He will receive the news after the wedding or on the wedding day," Mom said, and I sighed. "I didn't call Dad. My wolf asked me to tell Dad, but I refused," I said, looking at my mother's face guiltily, and she smiled. "Why would your wolf advise you to tell your dad? I thought you were in support of my wedding with Alpha David?" Mom asked me sadly, and I nodded. "Yes, Mom. I am in support. My wolf is only concerned about Dad and not keeping him in the dark, but I thought about it. Since Dad doesn't want to come home, then I cannot deny you being happy," I told my mother with a melancholy expression on my face. There was no way I was going to tell her that it was because of Triple L. It's better Mom doesn't know what will happen to me if, possibly, the triplets were going to be my mates. "I love you, Mom, and I want you to be happy," I said, crossing the space between my mother and myself as I pulled her into a warm hug. "I love you the most, Mia. Hurry up and dress up. Let me go and prepare our breakfast," Mom said, before she left the closet. Sighing, I put on the yellow dress after wearing my bra and underwear. Then, I left the closet and went to my room. I picked up my phone and saw a chat from Vivian. "Are you coming?" Vivian asked. "Yes, by noon," I replied to her chat, and she agreed, "Alright. I will be expecting you." I put my phone down on the drawer and rushed out of my room to have breakfast with my mother, so that she didn't think I was sad or avoiding her. As I got to the kitchen, Mom was preparing a cup of tea for us, and I informed her that I wanted to hang out with Vivian. Since I got back to the pack, I hadn't gone out. Though I didn't know how to drive a car yet, my mother had a driver, and she allowed me to use him. "Mom, I will be going shopping today with Vivian, my classmate. Can I go with her?" I asked softly, looking upward at Mom's face as we sat at the dining chairs. "Sure," Mom replied to me, and I smiled. "I will not stay out too long." "Alright. You are an adult, and you will be 18 in a month. You can get more privileges to do as you like after that," Mom said with a grin, and I smiled. "Alright." After my breakfast with my mother ended, I assisted her in cleaning the kitchen as her maids arrived. Mom turned to me and said, "Mia, I would like for us to visit my brother and his family, so that I can talk to Veronica." "Mom…" I pouted, not wanting to talk to Veronica. "Don't worry. Get going. We will meet them in the holy ground tomorrow." "Alright, Mom. Take care," I waved to my mother, rushing out of the kitchen as I went back to my room on the top floor. I found my phone ringing on the drawer. Picking up my phone, I saw it was a call from Dad, and I froze. Who told Dad about the wedding? I was anxious as I moved over to the bed to sit down and answer my father's call. "Hello, Dad," I greeted my father calmly. "Hello, Mia. How are you doing today?" Dad asked, and I relaxed. "I am fine, Dad. Mom told me that I am a werewolf, and I found my wolf, Molly. Why didn't you tell me about who I am?" I asked Dad sadly, and he sighed. "I am sorry, Mia. I didn't want to scare you. I know that I shouldn't have taken you away from the pack, but you were still young and clingy, and you cried to follow me," Dad explained, and I sighed. "Why didn't you take Mom too? You left her alone for years," I said, and my father sighed. "It's complicated. I know that I offended your mother by leaving her, but I still love her. I just cannot quit my job and my aspirations too," Dad said, and I felt pity for him. "What if Mom wants to move on? Are you okay with that? If she doesn't love you anymore and wants someone else? Aren't you willing to let go for your aspirations and return home? Are you going to base in London forever? What if you shift and they take you away?" I asked my father sadly, tears streaming down my cheeks. "Hahaha," Dad laughed, despite hearing the brokenness in my voice. "No one will take me away. And yes, I know that I will grow old. I will come home soon. I heard your mother is getting married to Alpha David. I do not want to stand in her happiness since she likes him," Dad said. "And you are okay with that?" I asked Dad, surprised, and he sighed. "I am not okay, but I have a project that I am working on. Maybe after this one, I will be back. I promise you," Dad said, and I sighed. "What if Mom doesn't want you after your return? How will you cope?" "Mia, don't worry about your mother. I know that she is mad at me. When I am back, I will settle that with your mom. If she wants me and Alpha David, it's fine. But if she doesn't want me anymore, I will not force her. After all, I was the one who left her alone in the pack. She tried, staying single for me all these years. Despite that, I got to cheat on her here. I will accept whatever she gives me." "Mmm. It's alright, Dad. Just be safe," I told him. "You too, my angel. That reminds me, when you find your mate, you should let me know and send his photo to me. I pray the moon goddess gives you a good mate who will treat you right and not like how I treated your mother," Dad said, and I wiped the tears from my eyes. "Alright, Dad, take care, and I will keep that in mind," I replied before my call with my father ended. I didn't know why I wasn't truly happy about finding my mate. I feared what if I am truly mated to the triplets? Will I be able to reject them? What if they reject me after Mom gets married to their father? I hope I can be able to do this right. I sighed, answering my incoming call from Vivian.
