The perfect fairytale
Unguarded Love Chapter 1: The Perfect Fairytale The city of Havenville sparkled beneath the evening sky. Golden lights danced across toweringskyscrapers while luxury vehicles glided through the bustling streets. To outsiders, Havenville appeared perfect, a city where dreams came true and fortunes were made. For Alice Summers, however, Havenville held something even more precious. Standing on the balcony of the Summers Estate, Alice watched the sunset paint the horizon in shades of orange and gold. The gentle breeze played with her long chestnut hair as she smiled at the diamond ring sparkling on her finger. Three years,Three wonderful years,That was how long she had loved Prince Alex Whitmore. The wealthy heir to the Whitmore Empire. The man she would marry in exactly thirty days. "Alice!" The cheerful voice belonged to Chloey Summers. Alice turned as her younger sister rushed onto the balcony. "There you are! Mom has been looking everywhere for you."Alice laughed. "I was only gone for ten minutes." "Mom thinks ten minutes is enough time for you to disappear forever." The sisters laughed together. Moments later they entered the grand dining room where the entire Summers family had gathered. Mr. Benson Summers sat proudly at the head of the table. Beside him sat his wife, Eleanor Summers. Brian Summers was busy scrolling through his phone. "Look who finally decided to join us," Brian teased. Alice rolled her eyes."I was on the balcony." "For twenty years.""It was ten minutes." "Same thing." The family burst into laughter. Mrs. Summers smiled warmly."You seem happy today." Alice instinctively glanced at her engagement ring."I am." Mr. Summers leaned back in his chair. "How could she not be? She's marrying the richest bachelor in Havenville." Alice frowned."Dad." "What?" "I love Alex because of who he is." "Conveniently, who he is happens to be rich." "Dad!" Everyone laughed again. Despite the jokes, Alice truly loved Prince Alex. Their story seemed pulled straight from a romantic novel. Three years earlier, they had met during a charity fundraiser. Alex had accidentally spilled wine on her dress. She had accidentally insulted him without realizing who he was. Instead of becoming offended, Alex had laughed. That laugh had changed everything. From that moment onward, their lives became intertwined. Vacations,Date nights,Family gatherings. Dreams about the future. They had shared everything,Or so Alice believed. Across town, another story was unfolding. One far less cheerful. Jason Wilson sat inside his luxurious penthouse overlooking the city. The rain outside tapped softly against the floor-to-ceiling windows. The room was dark,Silent,Empty. Much like his heart. On the coffee table rested a framed photograph. Sandra Davis smiled brightly from within the frame. Jason stared at it for several moments. Then turned it face down. He couldn't bear looking at it anymore. Three years. He had spent three years loving Sandra. Three years believing she would become his wife. Three years building a future that no longer existed. A knock interrupted his thoughts."Come in." The door opened.Mr. Wilson White entered first. His mother followed shortly behind.Mrs. Wilson White sighed."Still sitting in darkness?" Jason shrugged."I prefer it." "You never preferred darkness before."Jason didn't answer. His father sat opposite him."Have you heard from Sandra?" The question immediately hardened Jason's expression."No."His father nodded. "Good." Mrs. Wilson White shot her husband an irritated look."Richard." "What?" "That wasn't helpful.""It was honest." Jason almost laughed. Almost. The truth was simple.Sandra Davis had left him. Not because they fought. Not because they were unhappy. Not because he mistreated her.She left because she fell in love with another man.Daniel Smith. The name alone felt like a knife. Jason remembered the conversation perfectly. Every word.Every painful second."I didn't mean for this to happen."Sandra had cried while speaking. Jason stood frozen. "What did you mean?" "I met someone."The world had stopped. "What?" "I met Daniel." Jason's stomach dropped. At first he thought it was a joke,Then he saw her tears. And everything changed. Three years of memories suddenly felt fragile. Meaningless. "I love him." Those words destroyed what remained of his heart. Now Sandra was gone. And Jason wasn't sure if he could ever trust love again. Meanwhile, in another part of Havenville, Sandra Davis sat inside a luxury restaurant. Across from her sat Daniel Smith. Tall,Confident,Charismatic. Everything she once thought Jason lacked. Daniel smiled as he reached across the table. "You seem distracted." Sandra forced a smile. "I'm fine." "Thinking about Jason?" Her eyes widened. Daniel chuckled. "You always look guilty when you think about him." Sandra sighed."Three years is a long time." "You made your choice.""I know."Daniel squeezed her hand."And you chose me."Sandra nodded. Yet something inside her remained unsettled. Jason had loved her completely.Unconditionally. A kind of love many people spent their entire lives searching for. Had she made the right decision? She pushed the thought away. Of course she had. She loved Daniel. Didn't she? The following weekend, Alice accompanied Alex to a lavish charity event. The ballroom shimmered beneath crystal chandeliers. Guests dressed in designer gowns and tailored suits filled the room. Alex looked handsome as always. His charm captivated everyone. Especially Alice. "You look beautiful tonight." Alex kissed her hand. Alice blushed. "Thank you." "You know what?" "What?" "I still can't believe you're marrying me." She laughed. "I was about to say the same thing." Alex smiled. For a brief moment, his expression softened. Almost guilty. But it disappeared so quickly that Alice never noticed. Across the room stood a woman watching them. Angela Louis. Beautiful. Elegant. Dangerous. Her eyes never left Alex. And Alex occasionally glanced back. Small glances. Secret glances. The kind Alice failed to notice. But Angela noticed every single one. A faint smile appeared on her lips. The game had already begun. And nobody realized it. Weeks passed. Wedding preparations consumed the Summers household. Dress fittings. Venue inspections. Guest lists. Floral arrangements. Everything had to be perfect. Alice threw herself into the planning. Whenever she felt stressed, Alex reassured her. "We're almost there." Only four words. Yet they always calmed her. One evening, Alice sat with Sandra Davis at a café. The two women had been close friends for years. Sandra stirred her coffee thoughtfully. "Nervous?" "A little." Sandra smiled. "That's normal." Alice sighed. "I just want everything to go smoothly." "It will." "You think so?" Sandra nodded. "You and Alex are perfect together." For some reason, Sandra felt strange saying those words. Almost envious. Not because she wanted Alex. Because Alice still believed in love. The kind of innocent faith Sandra had lost. "Sometimes I wonder," Alice admitted. "What?" "What if something goes wrong?" Sandra laughed. "What could possibly go wrong?" Neither woman knew destiny had already prepared an answer. A devastating answer. One that would change both their lives forever. That same night, Prince Alex sat inside his private office. The city lights glowed beyond the windows. Angela Louis stood nearby. Silence filled the room. Then Angela spoke. "Have you told her yet?" Alex closed his eyes. "No." "You have to." "I know." "Then why haven't you?" Because he was a coward. Though he never admitted it aloud. Angela moved closer. "What are you going to do?" Alex stared at the engagement photograph on his desk. Alice's smiling face stared back at him. She trusted him completely. And somehow that made everything worse. "I don't know." Angela's expression hardened. "You promised me." Alex remained silent. "You said you loved me." Still silent. Angela turned away. "If you marry Alice, we're done." The ultimatum lingered heavily between them. Alex watched her leave. For the first time in his life, he felt trapped. Between duty. And desire. Between the woman who loved him. And the woman he couldn't stop thinking about. Outside, a storm began gathering over Havenville. Dark clouds rolled across the skyline. Lightning illuminated the city. Nature itself seemed to sense the approaching disaster. Far away, Alice sat in her bedroom smiling at wedding invitations. Jason stared at a photograph he couldn't throw away. Sandra questioned her choices. Daniel hid secrets. Angela demanded answers. And Alex stood at the center of it all. Unaware that the decisions he made in the coming weeks would destroy multiple lives. And unknowingly create a love story far stronger than his own. A love story neither Alice nor Jason could yet imagine. Because sometimes destiny begins with heartbreak. And sometimes the greatest love stories are born from ruins.
