"Let me in!" I heard someone yell. I turned around peeping over the recliner to see Noah standing in the doorway of his office door with it cracked while speaking to whoever was on the other side.
"She's resting!" He whispered, "I don't want any of you people bothering her, you're lucky I even allowed you to be near the Palace!"
"I must see her! I need to know if the rumors are true!"
"Are you really going to spit me that bullshit excuse? You know they're not rumors but the truth. You were her best friend!" Noah replied and I could tell that he was getting pissed.
I turned around and looked around the dimmed office. Noah invited me in for lunch and I ended up sticking around while reading a book, I must have fallen asleep. The only source of light was coming from the fireplace while the curtains that were opened earlier were now closed.
I slowly pushed the blanket off to the side before standing up and making my way to the door. Noah's looked at me out of the corner of his eyes before scoffing and pushing the door open wider so the woman standing on the opposite side could see me.
"Ororo," She gasped once her eyes laid on me.
"Hello?"
She quickly zoomed past Noah and stood in front of me with her arms wrapped around me, "My Goodness! Look at you!"
"I'm sorry but do I know you?"
"You don't remember me but that's okay. You were only a child," She answered.
"Who are you?"
"I'm your Godmother,"
I grabbed her hands before pulling her down into the chair next to me, "You knew my mother?"
I heard Noah close the door softly before he returned to his desk, the woman sitting next to me stiffened up a bit when I brought up my mother, "I knew your mother for thousands of years but in the last few years of her life... I didn't know her,"
"What do you mean?"
"We were best friends. I was turned in 1948. It was 1952 when me and a few more vampires were traveling in America and found a woman in an abandoned building bleeding to death. The leader of our group was Edward and he knew she was dying. We walked in and spoke to her, she was weak and could barely speak but she still did it. We asked her what happened in which she responded saying that she was beaten by a group of white men. Racism was very bad back in these days. Gideon never saw color, there wasn't any racism regarding skin color in Gideon so this was news to Edwards ears. He wanted her to get revenge and she wanted it too so he took it upon himself to turn her. Jennifer hunted the men who beat her and killed them." She explained.
I watched as she looked down and shook her head before continuing to speak again, "When we returned to Gideon, I was assigned to help her out. I showed her around our side of the country and told her about the wolves, I helped her adjust to her diet. We were close. We became the best of friends and were like sisters but she changed later. She became this different person a year before she was pregnant with you and when she got pregnant, she was completely different. She was so mean to everyone else except for me and your father and three years after she had you she changed on me too. She was greedy and wanted nothing but power. She would kill anyone who got in her way, she was evil so I left. I moved to London and started completely over. When she died, I got a phone call from Edward and he explained everything to me. I cried. I wondered where you were but I didn't know where to start looking. It all changed when I saw you marry Noah, I had to return to Gideon. I needed to see you!"
"What's your name?" I asked her. I was still trying to register the fact that my mother wasn't who I thought she was.
"I'm Elizabeth," She replied, "I know there are lots of people after you because you wear that crown and I'm here because I want to protect you,"
"Oh no you don't!" Noah said while standing up and making his way over to me, "I can protect her just fine,"
"You're busy! Whenever you're away, who will protect her?" Elizabeth asked.
"She's with me at all times,"
"I'm the only person inside of this palace who has a connection to them! If anyone knows their plans it's me! I can help!" Elizabeth yelled.
"Noah," I whispered. I watched as he slowly turned his attention from Elizabeth and onto me, "I think we should let her stay. I believe her. Can we give her a chance?"
"I tried giving vampires a chance long ago and they betrayed me so how will I know if she's any different from them?" He asked.
"I have a gut feeling that she's telling the truth and sometimes you've got to go with your gut,"
Noah stares at me before sighed heavily and pinching the bridge of his nose, "Fine! She can stay. I'll get one of the workers here to show her to her room,"
Elizabeth sighed in relief and I smiled at him, "Thank you, my Noah."
Noah chuckled before walking out of his office, "You're welcome, my Ororo."
