Chapter Three

HAPPIEST birthday Adira! Wishing you all the best! i love you so much <3

I happily smile after reading Theresa birthday message for me, she sent it exactly at 12:00 am to greet me. it was already morning when i read her birthday greeting

I replied

Me:

Thank you Theresa! I love you too <3

My phone rang, Theresa called after i messaged her.

“Hello?”

“Happy Birthday to you~ Happy Birthday to you~ Happy Birthday dear Adira! Happy Birthday to you!” I heard her sing making me chuckle

“Thank you”

I can hear in the background that she’s getting ready, maybe doing her makeup. “Get ready okay, i’ll be fetching you and we will have the best birthday shopping and treats ever!”

I laugh at her excitement, Look’s like someone is more excited than i am. “Okay, okay” i happily chirped “I’ll go take a shower now”

“Be ready at eight!” she last said and bid her goodbye, Thankfully it’s Saturday, We can have all day to spend

When the line ended, i still didn’t lose my smile, This day is going to better.

After taking a shower, I went to my closet to find something to wear, and i decided to wear a contrast color knitted tank top and a black loose jeans with belt. I wore a white high cut rubber shoes to go with my outfit and only I brought my wallet and phone.

I went down to have my breakfast and also to inform Mom that i’m be going out but i’ll be back before dinner, surely she would be in dining or in the garden this time in the morning.

I made myself a sandwich, I went to the dining but it seemed that mom isn’t there, even Farra. I roam around to find mom nor Farra but i didn’t find them, i would run into the helpers but none of them knew where mom or Farra is.

I am in garden looking around while munching my sandwich when Nanna Diday saw me, she was holding a glass of iced tea and when she went near me she gived it to me.

It has been thirty minutes and i haven’t find them.

“Are you looking for someone Adira?” she asked

I nodded and scratched my head shyly “I’m trying to find Mom and Farra, I just wanted to inform them that i’m going out but i’ll be back before Dinner”

“Madam Maidelyn is with her friends for their spa day and Farra is with her future fiancé, Madam Maidelyn has been talking about it since yesterday” Nanna Diday said as she fixed my hair a bit

“Well they be back before dinner?” i asked hopeful

“Of course” She smiled “And your father might be traveling home now to celebrate your birthday” she continued

I smiled hearing that, I’m very excited for our family dinner tonight.

“I WANT this and hmmm.. this one!” Theresa has been choosing different clothes in this well known boutique for hours now, She said that she wants to shop her clothes but it seems that most of the clothes that she bought are for me

“Oh my! look Adira, this will really suit you!” she went to me and showed me a cream colored off the shoulder drawstring ruched dress

I looked at her flatly “Theresa, you said you wanted to shop for your clothes, and you already bought me three tops! it’s already enough” i stopped her for too much spending

We’ve been shopping clothes for hours now, it has been the fifth boutique that we shopped to, and this boutique is the sixth for the record. Theresa wouldn’t stop until she drop. It would be better if she chose cheaper ones but no, She’s obsessed with Luxury brands.

She pouted “But it’s your birthday, i want to treat you with some clothes, come on this is the last one” she pouted and lightly pushed me to the dressing room when we arrived she gived me the dress for me to try it on

“This is so much spending Theresa, and it’s not smart” i told her

She rolled her eyes “You always say yes when i invite you to eat and tell you that it’s my treat but you will pay it your self, now that i have a reason treat you for real, i don’t want you saying no on me”

I sighed, “This is the last one” i gived her a serious look, she nodded and clapped happily before going out to give me some privacy

I took off my clothes and tried the dress, i may deny it but it looked good on me, it seemed that it was tailored for my fit, fixing it a bit i went out to show it to Theresa.

She’s checking some clothes when i caught her attention, her expression made me chuckle, she’s like a mom in awe and so proud to her kid

“Oh my! it really suits you Adira, it says alot alike of your personality oh my well buy it!” She excitedly chirped and called the sales lady

“Oh add this too” she gived the lady another white dress and gived her black card.

“Don’t your parents check your expenses? they might really scold you with your spending expenses” i said as we went out from the boutique.

She proudly smile and showed me her card, “They don’t know about my spending this week love, because this card isn’t mine” she smirked at me and winked

My eyes widen at what she said “What? Then whose card is that?”

She went near me and whispered “It’s my sugar daddy’s” shw giggled after saying that

“What?!” My eyes widen more

Her laugh thundered, she’s holding her stomach and clutching herself, People turned to look at our direction, they might be confused why a pretty girl laughing her ass off not minding anyone’s stare and reaction.

She was breathing heavily, trying to suppress her laugh, she held my shoulders, “I’m just kidding! your reaction is priceless!”

I looked at her flatly, she giggled “It’s my brother’s card, i won some bet and i can keep his card for a week, he’s freaking rich and i have his limitless card, i’m a millionaire for this week”

I slap my forehead, this girl really..

We’re both famished so we went to one of her favourite restaurant, Spettacolare, an italian restaurant she’s been obsessing about.

The place looked so elegant and… expensive, fashionable interiors and the eye-catching stained-glass windows reminiscent of those at the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. The ambience and upscale fare make this restaurant the ideal place for a first date or a celebration.

Since i’m new to this place, I let Theresa order our lunch, we did had scrumptious dishes, they even gived me a free cake for it’s my birthday and the three of the restaurant’s staff serenade me.

I felt so embarrassed and grateful at the same time, Theresa took videos and took pictures to save the memory. I payed for our meal for i want to treat Theresa too, she was so happy about it.

We didn’t go home after that, We spent all our time in that mall, We went to a salon but only Theresa had her hair done, and the remaining hours we watch a movie.

This has been the best day ever…

“Thank you for the birthday treat Theresa, I’m very happy” I told her after we arrive infront of our house.

She brought me home before it turned 6, she didn’t want me to be late for the family dinner for she knew i’ve been so eager about it.

“I’m happy that we spent your birthday together, and also i made you happy, i’ve done my mission” she winked at me

I laughed “Silly, but really thank you” i gived her the most sincere smile making her tear up, i’m bewildered when she went out of her car and hugged me.

“I’ve seen you the happiest today, i’m very happy too” she whispered, she then ended her embrace and wiped her tears “Ugh! enough of the drama, get inside now Adira, your family might be waiting for you”

We bid our goodbyes and then she went back to her car and drove it.

I went inside our house, seeing some helpers doing errands, when they saw me they greeted me, i greet them back. I went to the kitchen and I saw Nanna Diday readying the dinner, i hugged her happily and asked her if my parents and my sister has arrived home.

But sadly they’re still not home. Maybe they will be late and i can wait for them.

I washed up and wore a simple dress, i helped Nanna and some helpers ready the dinner, they didn’t want me to help but i insisted, i don’t have anything to do.

By seven, the dinner is ready, i excitedly sat down and waited for them.

Seven thirty and they haven’t arrive yet..

Eight still they are not home, i invited Nanna and the helpers to eat first for it’s already late a bit, the helpers hesitated but i insisted.

10:00

No one in my family arrived until late that night. the helpers are now resting except Nanna Diday who stayed by my side all the hours.

“Adira, maybe you should rest too, it’s already late” she sadly said

I wanted to cry, i expected that this birthday will be different, that i may spend it with them but expectations can really lead to disappointments.

I slowly nodded and smiled sadly at Nanna. “Maybe i should” i looked at her teary eyed “Thank you for staying by my side Nanna, i really do appreciate it” I stood up and went to her to hug her after that i walked out to go to my bedroom.

I spent the night crying as i hug my pillow, i shouldn’t expect that a happy day would just continue, a day can never be done without any tears, and that has always been my days.

Next day came, even i slept late last night i still woke up early, maybe because of habit, a body clock.

I strolling around the garden near the garage with our mansion dog Ruby, i was playing fetch with her when i saw a familiar car arrived, It was Dad, Mom and Farra.

Farra went in inside our house with Mom, Dad seems to notice that i’m there, he looked so tired and seemed like he just came from work.

“Adira, i’m sorry i couldn’t be home yesterday something happened, but i will compensate for it okay?” He kissed my forehead, before getting inside the house

Even they were all confusing, i felt a bit happy, they’re now home, even it’s late i’m happy that they’re here.

I brought Ruby back to her cage and went inside our house, i went to the second floor to get something from my room, before i reached my room, i heard muffled noises, like there was someone fighting.

I checked where it is and it’s from my parents room, i don’t want to eavesdrop but i heard my name making me stop.

“Why did you went home when the business is still facing some problems? It hasn’t been resolved yet and your here?!” it was mom’s voice

“I want to be with my daughter for today Maidelyn, it was her birthday yesterday i want to make up for it, I didn’t come home yesterday because i thought that you and Farra will be with her for the dinner per what you said but i learned that she was alone here last night waiting for us! I’m not around and you intentionally didn’t go home too! how can you do that to our waiting daughter?!” It was dad, he sounded so frustrated and upset

“Huh? our daughter?! Adira isn’t mine! I don’t have a responsibility to be a mother to her!” My eyes widen in shock after hearing those words

I’m not my mom’s child?

“You cheated on me! you fcked your b!tch ex behind my back then you got her pregnant! she didn’t want any responsibility that’s why she left her daughter with you! and it doesn’t mean that i’m your wife, i should be responsible with that child! she’s that b!tch carbon copy, she has always been a reminder to me of your infidelity!”

I heard a crashing sound it seems like something broke, I wanted to run away, i can’t accept this revelation. but my feet was glued i couldn’t move.

“I don’t feel an ounce of affection to that child, she will never be a part of this family! Of my family!” she shouted

“I thought you loved her?” It was my father’s voice he sounded hurt

“Well now you know! i despise her and her mother! i just treated her like what you and your parents want me to treat her, I raised her with you because it’s my responsibility as your wife and i don’t want anyone to know that she’s the fruit of your betrayal. For i don’t want to look stupid to our colleagues, that the well known elegant Maidelyn Revo Miller was cheated on by her so called loyal and perfect husband”

The door suddenly open, i met my mom’s red from crying eyes, her eyes widen but it only lasted for seconds, she’s back from being sophisticated and composed, while dad has the opposite. He looked so shocked that i’m just behind the closed doors

Mom walked out but before she pass through me she stopped.

“This is why i couldn’t be so affectionate to you, you will always be the reminder of my husband’s infidelity, You will always be the reason why this family is ruinous” after that she left head lift high.

I couldn’t absorb it completely, i lost it.
