Chapter Four

Months passed, and the changes are very visible. I couldn’t forget how dad couldn’t say anything, Mom acted like nothing happened and Farra who i think doesn’t even care about the situation.

I sat infront of my vanity as i combed my hair, my hair got a bit longer as months has passed by, and i looked more lonelier than before.

I heard a knock from my door made me pause from what i am doing, i stood up to open it to see Nanna.

“Hey” she gived me a smile “Ruben is waiting for you in the garage, he asked me to call you because you might get late”

Mang Ruben is our family driver.

I nodded and went to my study table to get my bag, after that i went out and followed Nanna, we we both silent, when we arrived at the garage, Nanna gived me a paper bag, i didn’t notice that she was holding it the whole time.

“You didn’t eat breakfast again Adira so i made you a packed meal, It’s just a chicken sandwich and lemon juice, i hope you will eat that” she gived me a affectionate smile and tap my head.

“Thank you Nanna” i hugged her before getting in the car.

I attended my class, We had a surprise test but thankfully i reviewed my notes last night, It wasn’t that hard but it’s not that easy either, it’s business mathematics, when did it become easy on my part?

I sighed heavily, i sit next to the window and it has the full view of our school field, i just looked at some students roaming around, there are some athletes doing their training, some are just around the field to watch.

“Fearless Adira Miller” I was called by the teacher, i was startled a bit but he was just giving our papers back, seems that the test result are out.

I stood up, he gived me my paper “Keep up the good work Ms. Miller, you got the highest score again” he gived me a smile then called another name

I thanked him and went back to my seat, our test was 30 questions and looked like i only have 1 mistake.

It was lunch again, I forgot to eat Nanna’s prepared meal so i just decided to eat it for lunch, I am alone today, Theresa texted me that she has to skip today’s class because something came up.

I spend my lunch under a tree, on the side of the field, i decided to eat here for it looked peaceful, i saw this spot while walking around.

After I finished all of my class, i went out to see Mang Ruben waiting, he helped me with the books i’m holding. I thank him after getting on the car.

“How’s your day young miss?” He asked, i am looking through the window as he drove through the streets, the streetlights are now lit, for it’s getting dark

I turned to look at Mang Ruben, I gived him a thumbs up and a smile, he chuckled and he continued driving.

We arrived home after he parked, he open the car’s door for me because i’m having a hard time to, when i got to finally get out of the car, i saw a familiar car parked besides mom’s car.

“Dad’s home?” i whispered and seems that Mang Ruben heard it

“Sir Francis came home just this afternoon, i fetched him at the airport” he said

“Oh” that’s the only i could say. before getting in i thank Mang Ruben for fetching me.

When i arrived inside the house, the helpers are all busy, they are readying about something. when i pass the living room, i saw Dad with his phone, he was alone sitting on the couch, He was talking to someone over the phone

He saw me, and that made him stop what he is doing.

“Good evening Dad” i said

“Adira, How’s school?” He asked, he ended his call.

I gived a small smile, “Fine” I answered briefly, i don’t know what to say anymore that i felt a bit akward.

He nodded slowly, It appear to be that he also don’t how to prolong our conversation “Take a rest” He said after some moments

I nodded “Then i should be going now” i said and walked again but before i can make another few steps i heard Dad called my name again.

“Adira?” He called

I turned to look back at him, He was looking at me and seems like he was observing my reaction.

“Take a good rest, We will be calling you for dinner”

I REVIEWED my notes, our teachers love to give surprise test that i oath to always be ready, i don’t want to disappoint Mom and Dad.

I was reading my Business Ethics notes when someone knocked at my door, when i opened it i saw one of our helpers.

“Good evening young miss dinner is ready, your father want you in the dining room” the helper said

I thank her before closing the door, i took off my reading glasses and untied my hair, this is always my look when i’m studying, messy hair bun and reading glasses.

I checked myself in the mirror, i am only wearing a simple white shirt and my strawberry designed pajamas.

I went down to see the helpers still busy, i got a bit confused but i didn’t mind it, i went to the dinning room.

But what i arrived to made me want to run out, The table was set not only for my family but also for some guests, I froze to where i am standing.

Two familiar faces we’re sitting with my family, One is the guy whose i would met by accidents and Dahlia Hebe. What are they doing here?

“Adira come sit” Dad said, he looked like he was expecting me but both Mon and Farra’s expression says the opposite.

I sat next to Farra, one of the helpers placed a plate and utensils infront of me.

I probably look stupid right now, except that i look so taken back, i’m also wearing my pajamas unlike then who look like they’re all having formal dinners with their clothing.

“This is Fearless Adira Miller, our second child” Dad introduced me to the guest

A woman looking elegant smiled and spoke, She looked the same age with mom, she look strict, but probably nice because she wears sincere and sweet smile as she talk to me.

“You look exactly like your father dear, Adira right?”

I nodded, she smiled “this is my Eldest, Deimos Hercules Lewis and my youngest Dahlia Hebe Lewis” she introduced them

“Ahm” i cleared my throat “Hello” I akwardly said, Mrs. Lewis chuckled

“What a shy kid” she said.

Mom seems like she’s not really happy still acted like she’s okay, she open a topic about business that it caught the attention of the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis

We started eating as they conversed, Farra would answer when she is asked the same with the siblings infront of us. Deimos Hercules and Dahlia Hebe.

I was really out of the picture, and i’m okay with that, i don’t even know what i would say.

The desserts was served when Mr. Lewis spoke, “When will be the announcement of the engagement of Hercules and Farra?”

Mom wiped her lips elegantly “In Farra’s Debut, it will be a double celebration” she answered smilingly

The Lewis couple agreed with it, i stole a look at Farra, she seems like she knew about it, for she just continued eating her dessert not looking bothered.

I continued eating, but i felt weird a little bit, I feel like someone is staring at me, i roam my gaze only to meet his cold blue menacing eyes, i choked with the food i’m eating, Everyone looked at me.

I acted like i’m okay, but i silently grabbed the water infront of me.

Thankfully they continued to talk like nothing happened, it was really embarrassing.

The dinner ended, i silently thanked the heavens for that, it’s feels like forever.

I decided to walk outside the house to get some fresh air, I arrived at the pool area, It was full moon so it wasn’t that dark and the light from the house reaches the area.

I sat on one of the pool reclined chairs as i look at the pool, i sighed, i leaned on the chair as i look at the sky, it was full of stars and no trace of bad weather.

I closed my eyes to feel the peacefulness when i heard some footsteps, i didn’t mind it at first for i thought it was just someone passing by but when i felt someone’s presence beside me, i opened my eyes.

I check who it was and i nearly fell when i meet his blue eyes again “oh s**t” i whispered

“You’re always startled when we see each other” he stated as he sat at the lounge just beside mine

I open my mouth to say something but i couldn’t grasped what word i should say so i just shut up and avoided his gaze.

I played with my fingers as i look at the pool, i don’t know how to start a conversation, and i didn’t expect that i would see him again

“I-ahm” i wanted to speak, but i felt like i don’t even know how, i turned to look at him, my eyes widen when i caught him staring at me.

“I’m sorry for the accident last time, i wasn’t able to compensate” i said as i remembered how we saw each other last time

He chuckled “As i said, It’s alright just forget about it”

I nodded, well that’s for a start of conversation for me.

“You’re quite timid unlike your sister” He stated

I didn’t give him any reaction, i would get that phrase a lot, Farra has always been social butterfly, She’s really good bringing herself

Unlike me who’s socially akward, maybe because i’m not used with interaction for i have only one friend and i don’t attend any social gatherings, well except when Theresa would insist or force me to.

“Oh don’t take it as a bad thing” he suddenly said, maybe he thought that i felt insulted

I shook my head “Oh no, i really get that a lot”

He sighed and breath out, “Your pajamas looked cute by the way” he suddenly said

I gived him a confused look, he just gived me a smile making me chuckle “Did i look stupid?” i asked him as a check my clothes “I didn’t know there was a dinner with guest that i didn’t change into something decent”

He shook his head, “You look fine, i envy you for having comfy clothes, this coat is making me feel itchy” he said and then tap and scratched his arm.

I secretly chuckled, when he pouted as he does it, His character is a bit far from his appearance, he seems mean and cold but he is a bit silly.

A ring from a phone made us stop, he got his phone out of his pocket and answered a call

“Dad? Yes, i just went out to get some air” he stop, and listen to his dad talking, it seems like his parents are looking for him.

“Oh, yes i’ll get inside now” he said then ended the call

He stood up and fixed his pants “Sorry for suddenly disturbing you, i should be going now, i had fun talking to you” he said then smile at me

I didn’t know what to respond so all i did was a nod

He waved his hand and went back inside the mansion

I sighed and look at the sky again.

“What a flirt” I mean familiar voice said behind me, I turned to look at her, she gived me a raise of a eyebrows

“You act so dainty and good but you’re obviously a flirt”

“I’m not like that Farra” i muttered with finality

She scoffed, “Then what’s that? just a normal talking?”

I sighed “Farra that’s no-“ before i can finish talking she cut me off

“I don’t want you near my fiancé Adira, you’re a pretentious b***h, surely you’ll try to ruin my engagement.” she went infront of me and look at me from head to toe “you’re like your mother a harlot, the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree after all”
