Chapter Five

“The end of the week we’ll be your sister’s birthday?” Theresa asked as she sipped her iced coffee, she really have this obsession with this drink

I nodded as i eat my dessert, we’re back at Philocaly again, It’s friday and we were dismissed earlier than what used to.

Her family received an invitation for Farra’s debut party, And that’s expected, Both families run at the same circle.

“I’m not really in the mood to attend any parties this week and especially your evil sister’s birthday party” she scoffed and sipped her drink

Theresa is not clueless about how Farra treats me, she witnessed it first hand and that’s how she grew her hatred towards my sister

“I remember how she bullied you, You are her older sister but she doesn’t respect you, all she does was insult you infront of her wanna be queen bee bratty minions, trying to embarrass you and make fun of you, who’s in the right mind would treat her sister like that?!” she vociferously exclaimed

I tapped her shoulders trying to relax her, “She’s just young Theresa, she may really act like a brat sometimes”

“Oh really?” she looked at me flatly “She’s just a year younger than you! and pardon me, you don’t act like that at when you’re at her age, please don’t justify her actions by saying she’s young and it’s understandable that she acts like a brat” she rolled her eyes

“She has her reasons” i only answered, making her slap her forehead, She might not understand my reasoning right now, but i hope she will. Farra despises me for i’m the fruit of her father’s infidelity, Dad cheated on her mom, with my biological mother, i understand where her hatred came from.

“This is why nice people are always taken advantage, they would always try to understand the situation!” Theresa exclaimed

She grumpily sipped her drink, i didn’t say another reason for i don’t want to fuel the fire, she didn’t like my reasons so i should just shut up.

“I’m not going to her party, i don’t want to be a pretentious b***h around there and act like i’m friends with the celebrant”

I paused, then looked at her pouting, she raised her brows at me.

“If you won’t attend the party i’ll be alone there, you’re my only friend, and i’m not in good terms with my sister, i hope you’ll change your mind” i gived her a puppy dog eyes, she groaned

“Fine, i don’t want you to feel lonely so i’ll come” she rolled her eyes

I cheered and hugged her, Theresa is really a softy.

THE MILLER household is very busy, today is Farra’s birthday and everyone is busy doing errands, the party will be held in the wide garden beside the pool area, they created a nobreakable sturdy glass platform that covered half of the pool. It would be the dance floor for the debut.

The theme is enchanted forest, the place are filled with flowers and and fake trees. A beautiful arc was made with vines and decorated with beautiful flowers.

The pool was designed and theres even a smoke machine to create magical effects, a man made pathway was made of dainty lights and rustic lamp post. This theme is really versatile, it’s a combination of rustic, mysterious, magical and elegance.

I entered the household and went to the second floor, I felt like i’m the only one having all the free time in this place so i decided to spend my time in the mansion’s library, it’s located in the third floor.

When i entered the library, i went directly to the shelf where my favorite genres can be found, after choosing a book i sat on the bean bag in that room, i didn’t turned on the lights for the whole room but only the lamp beside where i’m sitting.

I was immersed into what i’m reading when i heard the door creaked open, a sound of heels and fast paced footsteps made me pause.

“How can those Lewis tell us to cancel the announcement of engagement?! It’s like we’re the only one who could get something from all this!” I heard mom’s angry voice

“It’s Hercules request, and we won’t cancel the engagement, we’re just going to delay the announcement. Maidelyn understand that boy maybe he wants to be a bachelor just until he finishes his masters” Dad’s calm voice answers mom

Mom frustratedly sighed “They made us look stupid planning about it! I even told my amigas that there would be a important announcement in my daughter’s debut, God! my amigas will think i’m a joke!”

“Let’s just cross the bridge when we get there, this is not the time to get into this mood, it’s Farra’s birthday, we don’t want to ruin her day” Dad relaxed mom

Muffled of voices, until no trace of their sounds, seems that they went out from the library. They didn’t realize i’m here, maybe because i’m in the corner and covered with big bookshelves.

Night came and everything is now ready, I passed through the halls where Farra is having her pre-debut photoshoot, she’s wearing a dark green off shoulder long sleeve banquet party performance ball gown, She has her brown hair soft curled.

She has a silver vintage Baroque tiara with emeralds on, her jewelry are mostly designed with emerald stones.

I felt my phone vibrated, to see Theresa’s message.

Theresa:

I’m at the garage now, fetch me please.

I excitedly went to the garage, the wide garage is now filled with cars, i didn’t had a hard time finding Theresa’s car for she has a flashy one, i can identify it easily.

I went to her, i smiled seeing her wearing her gray Louis Vuitton Monogram Tweed skater dress, pair with her LV 4 inch pumps, Theresa is really tall, she’s taller than me and right now she looked like a model.

“You’re a walking thousand peso Theresa” i teased her, she just rolled her eyes and checked me in my outfit, I’m wearing the dress she bought me before, she seems delighted.

It didn’t take long when the debut started, Dad is Farra’s first dance for her eighteen roses, Kuya Finral is present too and he’s the second to the last partner, dashing in his three piece suit, Diemos Hercules Lewis.

“Is he her boyfriend?” curious Theresa whispered beside me

“Fiancé” I answered, whispering back

Theresa’s eyes widen “Arranged?”

I nodded and gestured her to stop whispering, we we’re both infront and there are some looking at us.

There was eighteen candles, eighteen treasures and eighteen cakes, as she blows the candle one by one, i felt happy for her, because even though she’s mean to me and she seems to hate me so much she’s still my sister. She’s very lucky to have the life i’ve always dream about, affectionate parents and a place where she can say she truly fits.

Mom gived her heartwarming message, Farra even had her tears, the same with Dad. When it was Kuya Finral’s turn, she teased Farra and just shared some of the silly moments.

I didn’t had any part of this event, as per Farra’s request. It did hurt but it’s still fine with me, i’m not really confident speaking infront of many audiences, i’m really socially akward

The party went on smoothly, it was a successful celebration.

Dad and Mom friends and business partners have already gone home, still the teens are still here for there is an after party. I didn’t want to attend and decided to sleep, it’s already eleven pm and i felt tired.

Theresa didn’t stay for the after party too, she went home with her parents.

I was picking clothes for bed when i heard a knock outside my door, I went to open it to see kuya Finral.

“Hey little sis” he smiled

“Kuya?” i asked him, i’m a bit confused why he is here infront of my door.

“You’ve been a little distant, and it seems like something happened while i’m away, you can tell kuya about it”

I didn’t want to worry him so i shook my head, maybe he didn’t knew that i’m only his half sister, that i have different mom and i was one of the reason why their family is a mess

He nodded “If you don’t want to share it i respect your decision, but always remember that i’m here for you little sis”

I gived him a small smile and nodded

I thought he would be leaving now but i was mistaken, before i could close my door he stopped me

“Maybe you should join the party outside, so you can meet people, new friends perhaps?” he asked

I wanted to say no but it seems like kuya Finral wanted me to go out from my shell, i couldn’t say no so i nodded, he smiled happily and pulled me.

When we arrived at the pool area, everything was different than some hours ago, most of the guest are now wearing their swimming attires, girls wearing their bikinis and boys who’s only topless

I felt very uncomfortable, it might be visible in my reaction for Kuya Finral worriedly asked me “Hey are you alright?”

I nodded and gived him a assuring smile “I’m okay, i’m not really used with the crowd” i reason out

“Then this is the time now to face your fear, no man is an island Adira, it’s convenient when you know how to interact with others”

Kuya Finral would stop when someone approaches him, maybe his friends or common friends, they would ask him if who i’m I, he would get confused why most of the elite circles who knew both of him and Farra didn’t know that they had another sibling, but i explained to him that i don’t really attend any social events that’s why i’m a mystery to some.

The truth is mom doesn’t want me to be known, i’m not really a secret but i never had an experience where i’m introduced by mom to any of her friends nor colleagues. but i didn’t tell him about that.

She’s my sister, Fearless Adira, He introduced me to some of his friends, they were pretty nice.

They conversed and i can’t relate so i excused myself, i planned to go back to my room now, kuya Finral seems busy and seems like he wouldn’t notice that i have already left the party.

I walked in the midst of the crowd, i’m really determined to go back inside, but unfortunately i met the people i didn’t want to run to, Farra’s mean friends, or Theresa would rather call, Farra’s bratty wanna be queen bee minions.

“Oh look who’s here” Justine, one of Farra’s friends exaggeratedly exclaimed, she put her arms around my shoulders and pulled me to where their group is sitting.

Farra who’s holding a red cup looked at me in disgust, seems like she didn’t want my presence here, well i didn’t want to be here also!

One of her friends suddenly gived me a red cup with liquor in it, i shook my head for i don’t drink, I never tasted an alcohol in my whole life and now i’m really scared.

“Oh girl don’t be such a spoil sport drink up” one of her minions really force the drink into my hand

“No, i don’t want to drink” i mumbled

Justine groaned “You’re such a loser, drink up and we’ll let you leave” she then laughed

I looked at Farra to ask for help but it seems like she’s enjoying the scene where here minions and friends bullies me

“Go on Drink up Adira” she said

I wanted to cry but i have no choice, i chug the drink they all cheered, they were all laughing at my misery.

I thought they would let me go but no, this poured another drink and they would push me to drink up. they did just let me go when my vision is already spinning.

I am having a hard time going through the people, the music blasted everyone was dancing and it made feel everything spin more. I was bumping to i don’t know who, some complain for i accidentally step on their foots but i didn’t care, i just wanted to get out of here.

I felt so nauseous and dizzy and i feeling that i’m really gonna pass out but before i could feel the impact of my fall, i felt some strong arms catched me.

He carried me and gently disposed me on one of recliner chairs, i couldn’t see his face for it was all blurry.

“Drink some water to sober up” i heard him say, i felt something cold touched my lips, i open my eyes to see what it is, it was a glass of cold water.

I drank up slowly, but when i felt the water running through my throat, i wanted to puke, and i couldn’t stop it, i really did puked.

I heard different reactions from the people around me, i felt embarrassed that i couldn’t say thanks to the person who helped me, i run toward the house, i just want to escape.

When i finally entered, i sighed deeply, i’m drunk! and i’ve made a mess. I slap my face. i planned to get to the second floor, but before i could step at the first step

I felt pain because someone was angrily pulling my hair

“You f*****g slut, you didn’t just made a mess in my party but you flirted with my fiancé for the second time!” she pulled my hair as she angrily slap me “Your a b***h like your mother! you pretentious wanna be goody goody two shoes!”

It hurts so much that i wanted to protect myself too, because of pain my body had sudden reaction, i pushed her, maybe a bit too hard that she went off and bumped her head

“Farra!” I heard mom’s hysterical voice, she was running from the second floor to check on Farra

“I’m so sorry Farra i didn’t mean to” i apologize while crying, i didn’t mean it, it was not my intention to hurt he, i just wanted her to let go of my hair.

My eyes widen when i saw some blood cascading from the side of her forehead, she got wounded! she bumped her head into the pointed side of the stairs

“Oh my! i’m so sorry i didn’t mean to hurt you im so sorry” i wanted to help her up but i fell again, i got pushed down and it was mommy this time

She checked Farra’s wound worriedly, when she saw that Farra got injured she slapped me

“How dare you hurt my daughter?!” he voice thundered

As i cry i mumbled “I didn’t mean to, i’m sorry”

I knelt down, i cried as i apologize, i didn’t really mean it, it was never my intention.

“You’re going to leave this house! i will never forgive you for hurting my daughter you ungrateful child!”

My heart sank, after hearing those words
