CHAPTER SIX

Blinding Lights... Flash... Camera.. and Make ups, it was never new to me. I stare at the mirror seeing my reflection, it was far different from before, gone the innocent eyes, gone the naive smile. all left was a lady who grew up from such world many taught fortunate but is suffering in reality.

"Your face doesn't need much make up babe, you look regal without make up and with it, makes you look gorgeously stunning." Seth said, my make up artist

We are getting ready for another runway show for a known brand this week, my week has been fully packed. i couldn't remember when was the last time i had proper and enough sleep. but i'm used to this, this has been my life for the past four years.

'You always say that Seth, that's always your compliment, i would think now that it's the only only asset i have." I teased him

He scoffed, "Girl you got everything, if i would numerate it one by one, you'll get to sit here until tomorrow and still i'm not finished." he rolled his eyes on me

I give him a smirk, "You're exaggerating Seth, I don't have everything" yes. i don't have everything, they might consider me as someone who's lucky but i'm no lucky for i don't have even a tiny bit of what i wanted the most.

Seth looked at me flatly "You got yourself an actor whose my ultimate crush as a suitor! girl he's my everything do you that? If i were you, i can now pronounce my life perfect. that hunky daddy has always his eyes on you, I'm so jealous"

"I turned him down Seth, you can have him for yourself"

He looked at me like he couldn't believe what i said, "What?! Fearless you dummy! Hes a jackpot!"

I rolled my eyes on him. "He's not my type Seth"

He sighed "It's never new, but the tabloids still believe He's courting you" He pouted and dramatically sighed "God how to be you Fearless Adira Miller?"

"Shut up Seth"

He continued doing my make up as he teased me, We we’re both comfortable with each other for we have been together for years now, he was my make up artist and stylist since i started modeling.

“Fearless this will be the last show, scheduled this week, you can have your rest then” Gia my manager said as she scan her ipad.

I nodded. The brand provided us the outfits that we will be wearing for the runway show, Prada runway show.

My co-models are getting ready with me too, when it was 15 minutes before the start everyone was ready, Some of them are talking, i saw some of the rookies look nervous so i went to talk to them.

“You can do it guys, it would take a matter of time but you will be used to this”

“Thank you so much Miss Fearless, we’ve been your fan, you’re so nice” One of them said, ‘a fan’ it wasn’t new to me, I’ve been in the industry for Four years and unexpectedly i stand out in this field, people says that they admire my beauty and soft features.

I started after I got scouted, I entered training class and posted for small brands, it was never easy, but fortunately the agency that took me in is one of the best in the industry, little by little i got gigs, I caught the attention of many, I started to pose with bigger brands until I reached this stage. It was a starting line, Four years of hard work and yearning this stage and Four years after I’m here, one of the known brands faces.

“I really hope I can be like you” the other shyly muttered, I gived her a soft smile, but in my insides i wanted to tell her no. being like me is being pretentious, you have to live of showing your smiling mask.

“Walk on your own pace, you can be whatever you want to be”

The show started, We all took turns, and for the last ramp, I got to be second to the last since i’m one wearing one of the designers best design for Prada spring collection.

After everything was done, my co models are happily celebrating, we took photos to post to our social media accounts, Seth took photos with me too, saying he wants to flex his best model. I rolled my eyes and teased him with that.

Kelly and Maicah, Suggested that we should all go to a high end club to celebrate, I felt tired but everyone is going so i did too.

Years in the modeling industry made me make friends and expand my circle. Being alone wouldn’t make me stand out and reach for what i am aiming for, so i did what i’m not used to, and that is to be open for others, i had to build up connections and i can say i succeeded with that, i am friends with those who has fame and the brightest spotlight.

Thankfully most of them are nice, I met mean ones, no one can avoid that, but i did choose my circle.

We went to a club in the middle of the city, New York really doesn’t sleep, it’s already ten and the club is starting to be filled in with people, some with familiar faces some i’ve known in the industry.

I already change my outfit, i’m wearing a sexy backless drawstring strap silk dress, coloured champagne. it was above the knee, I partnered it with a strap heels.

We got ourselves in the VIP area, thankfully Maicah already made a reservation, there was no hassle. We already have different liquors in the table since that’s the perks in the VIP but both Kelly and Maicah pulled me to the bartender area.

I ordered margaritas while both had vodka, we cheered and click our glasses, after that Kelly boyfriend arrived, he was with his friends.

“This is Simon and Gab” Kelly introduced the two to us, Simon talked to Maicah, while Gab went beside me.

“Hey I’m Gab Williams, Your Fearless Adira Miller if i’m not mistaken?” he had a boyish grin, he does look handsome, a hunk if i may describe, he has a dimple.

“I am” i gived a small smile

I met different men, some are in the spotlight, the same from where i stand, some are known business men and some are unknown for me but surely from known families, But as of now, i’m not planning to get myself into a commitment, a relationship that would make me end up in the side of a gutter, crying for my broken heart.

“You look so beautiful, Your photos didn’t give justice to your beauty in personal” he tried to flutter me.

“Thanks”

“I can call you Adira right?” he suddenly asked “Fearless seems too long”

Surely my face suddenly went blank, I didn’t let anyone call me my second name, it reminds me of the past.

“Just call me Fearless” i said coldly as I sip my drink. He maybe got my point that he change the topic.

I excused myself after minutes, Kelly and Maicah looked at me when I stood up, “I’m going back to the sofa, I’ll go first” I said, both of them nodded

“Excuse me” I gived Gab a small smile and proceeded in our sofa

I saw the girls talking and drinking, thankfully there were no strangers in our sofa, i sat down and joined them.

The drink on the table are hard liquors, but it didn’t stop me, since that i can hold my drink just fine.

Shot after shot we enjoyed the night, Kelly and Maicah joined in too, seems that Kelly’s boyfriend and his friends had another table.

“Cheers to those whose exceeding the game!” Maicah cheered

“Cheers to us beautifuls!” Kelly cheered too, we laughed and raised our glasses

“Cheers!”

I lost count on how many shot i took, i can seem some of the girls getting tipsy, Laliene who’s the youngest among us is now sleeping on the couch, i tried to wake her up but seems that she blackout.

“Fearless let’s dance!” Maicah who is a bit red too called me and pulled me up and because of the sudden movement i felt the world spinning.

“f**k! i’m dizzy” i muttered, Maicah laughs at what i said

“You’re tipsy! now it’s the best time to dance!” she cheered as she pulled me to the dance floor.

“Wooooh! she happily shouted when we arrived at the dance floor, Kelly and some of the girls are dancing there too. When they saw me thay all happily cheered.

“Fearless show us what you got!”

I shake my head and laugh “No! i’m a bad dancer”

Maicah sayed her hips and suddenly twerks we all cheered and laughed, We were all having fun when men came and tried to talk with us, I saw one approaching Kelly but she shook her head and pointed at a direction, telling the guy she’s with her boyfriend

Maicah had a man behind her back but she pushed him and told him that she’s taken

The girls had their own reactions to men, one went infront of me and tried to flirt with me, I secretly got my ring from my other finger ang put it on my ring finger.

“Engaged” I told the man, unfortunately he is persistent, he gived me a smirk held my waist and pulled me closer to him.

I tried to push him but he is stronger than me

“Let me go bastard!” i tried push him

“Stop being so stubborn baby girl” He whispered in my ear giving me goosebumps

“f**k off!” i successfully pushed him

He had a glare and a wicked grin, he was making me feel nervous, i keep my cool, we are in the middle of a crowd, I won’t let him hurt or harass me.

“You’re very pretty but you’re acting like a f*****g hard to get b***h!” he sharply sighed and tried to seize my hand

I planned to shout but i paused when someone suddenly grab the jerk’s shoulder and punched him in the face

“When a woman said no, then no, accept it you bastard and keep that fragile ego of yours”

The Jerk was now lying on the floor and the guy who save me from him bent down to punch him more, he then held the jerk’s collar and pulled him up, and pushed him on the side. He went flying in the chairs, it made a loud crash

That bastard surely had a broken nose, he was bleeding and his face was bruised, i didn’t feel any remorse, that jerk deserves it anyway.

Because of what happened, we got everyone’s attention, the music stopped and everyone was looking at the guy who was still beaten up by the gentleman.

It didn’t took long when bouncers came and stop the two, or rather the person who’s teaching that p*****t jerk a lesson.

He had his back on me so i didn’t know what he look like, he surrendered that guy to the bouncers and seems to tell them what happened, i hurriedly went to them and testify.

The bouncers nodded and promised to throw the guy out, i thank them before they exited the area. the staffs from that known club cleaned the mess, the guy who save me talked to them, I heard him saying that he would pay for the damage he caused.

The guy who helped me drank something from the bartender station, he has his brood back on me, I gently tapped his shoulder to get his attention.

He went stiff, “Hey Mister, thank you for saving me from that jerk, i didn’t know what to do and got scared, thankfully you save me from him, i owe you one” I said

It felt like a slow motion when be turned to look at me, when i meet his brooding eyes, my eyes widen, that familiar eyes!

“Adira” he muttered

I lost words to speak, i felt my legs shaking.

I lost my balance.
